The Vet clinic that I went to previously always gave me the impression that their priority was reimbursement, rather than animal care, Angie's List had listed them as great doctors, high prices.
I found Strickland Veterinary whose priority is animal care. The receptionist was caring and empathetic. She quickly got us in and told me about their Senior Discount, which I appreciated. Dr. Thomas diagnosed a severe limp in one of my dogs, that was difficult, as Buster didn't wince during the exam, which would have made it easier to pinpoint the exact spot of the problem. Dr. Thomas gave me care options and included the cost estimates. The option I chose was followed up closely by phone calls from Dr. Strickland inquiring how Buster was doing, and making suggestions as the week went along. Today, Buster is doing great, and I've found a new Vet clinic that I LOVE!

I really wish hat this whole thing had turned better than it did. Near the end of 2011 I had moved back to town after living in another state for about 10 years. The vet I had in the other state was absolutely by far the most amazing and best vet I had ever had in my entire life. He made himself available 24/7 if it was needed for emergencies. I guess that is a perk of living in small town America. When I was getting ready to come back I asked him if by chance he had any peers that he could recommend as Tucson is a big town and full of many vets. Lucky for me he was able to give me a few names of people that he had went to school with and was able to help ease my fear of not having good quality care for my animals. Especially after having the kind of quality of care that I had become accustom to.

My cats were elderly and one of them were diabetic and so it was important for me to establish a client / doctor relationship as soon as I got back to Tucson. I discovered that one of the three doctors was out of business, one was way very far from me and so this was the provider I chose. I also had a few friends here in town that said I should use their vet....which also just coincidently happened to be this provider, which made me feel really good.

When I went to the office for the first time I of course mentioned that this doctor came recommended from a classmate over 1200 miles away and of course gave the name of my vet and also mentioned that a few local friends that happened to be clients also said this is where I needed to bring my pets. I was really looking forward to meeting Dr. Strickland. I also thought she would more than likely appreciate the referral from her classmate and at least want to exchange hellos with me. Unfortunately I never got to meet her. The doctors that helped my animals were working for her in her office. Each time I was there I would tell her staff how I ended up in their office and would ask if Dr. Strickland was available to at least say a quick hello as I was looking forward to meeting her after so many good things had been said about her...I was happy and excited to have found a good place to bring my pets.

The doctors that she has on staff were real nice and helpful....thankfully they had the time to meet with my and my pets because she sure never did, even after asking every time I went there. That just never really sat well with me. I mean I always have time for my clients to give a quick hello in my business. Maybe I just have this thing in my head that a quick hello kind of says you care about your clients..you know, the whole customer service thing.

On one of my visits my cat required a antibiotic shot. When I got home and was looking over the invoice I noticed that I was charged $15 for giving my cat a shot, then the cost of the medicine and the office visit. I was confused as I have never heard of such a thing so I called to just clarify my confusion. Yes, they charged me $15 for the needle and to administer the shot. You have got to be kidding me I said. Would that not be included my $50 office visit? or maybe even included in the cost of the medicine? That really did not sit well with me....I could have given the shot to my cat myself as I had been giving 2 diabetic cats insulin shots twice a day for years...I know how to give a cat a shot...I also know that I can get a box of 100 needles for about $20.

When it came time that I had to put one of my cats down the front desk lady was very nice and sympathetic and told me how she just recently lost her cat and what not so she really knows how I feel. I chatted with her briefly about this and then went on my way.

Just a little over a year later and my last cat was nearing the end of her life and so once again I had to go through the whole sad event of losing another family member and had called for a euthanasia appointment and once again was speaking to the front desk lady on the phone as I made this appointment.....imagine my surprise when she told me the same story she told me a year ago. That was the final straw. As if losing my cat was not bad enough but to hear the same and quot;I know how you feel too storyand quot; I mean really.......you don't need to tell such a story if it is not the truth just to try to be sympathetic to someone. No reason to lie about something like that.... a simple and quot;sorry for our lossand quot; would suffice instead I felt like I had been lied to just to help ease my pain or something.......that did the exact opposite....needless to say, that is the last thing that I have experienced that did not set well with me.....it was also the last time I will ever go there again. My animals deserve better and so the quest for a good quality, caring and honest vet continues. I was / am SOOOO DISAPPOINTED as I had very high expectations by all the recommendations I had been given.

I am very pleased with them. I spent about $24 on that visit. I go there pretty regularly. Their staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They are great about getting us in if there is an emergency. Their hours are pretty long and they work half a day on Saturdays.

We've used Strickland for a long time and they have always been very good to our pets. The people there are friendly and knowledgeable. They make you feel like your pet is special and they handle the animals very well. The place is also very clean and the prices are very fair.
