Arrived at ER and was admitted. Was put in room and the toilet overflowed and the floor was soaking wet. Nurses stood around staring and did nothing. My husband had to demand they get me out of that room due to unsanitary conditions. They brought in a wheelchair and moved me over to another room. The wheelchair left wet marks all over my new room floor. That was not cleaned in the 3 days I was there. Very upset and no one would discuss this with us in person. Now I am getting billed for the difference of what my insurance paid even though it says quite clearly that patient responsibility is 0. I have sent copies of my insurance to them and was turned over to collections. Funny thing is when I called AGAIN to explain that I owe nothing I received a letter from collection several days after my call offering ten percent off if I paid immediately. I feel they are pulling insurance fraud and they need to be reported and investigated.

This was my second time for surgery at this hospital. The nurses and all the staff are very good and caring.
My only complaint with the hospital is that patients waiting for surgery are made to use the same small crowded waiting room with visitors who are there for family members having surgery.
I don't think surgery patients should be exposed to all the germs of the general public.

I spent an entire day in a hole in the wall. They sent me for scans....but I waited for scans for hours. If I had been having a stroke I would have died. I had NO CALL BUTTON!!! I had no PILLOW!!! I was screaming for help because I had to pee and could not move. I had vertigo so bad I literally could not move. I was terrified and no one cared! There were staff outside the curtain when I was calling for help...no one came in. They finally sent a physical therapist when the Doctor decided I had an ear condition. She turned me upside down and it almost went away. By then I was so angry and scared to stay there any longer I got up and walked to a bathroom. I made it that far so I decided I did not want to stay overnight. WHY did I need to stay overnight anyway was beyond me! I called a taxi and signed myself out. Nursing staff there sucks. Even the young men who pushed bed to scans were rude. One of them treated the ride like a car race! Do NOT go here if you expect anyone to take care of you. Never go here alone. I was alone....no one to get me help or even a pillow. This hospital needs a serious overhaul!!!! Stay away. Several neighbors of mine have had similar experiences. We all agreed we will never go back here again!!!

My treatment was extremely good and I was treated with respect, kindness, and excellent treatment by all the staff; RN's, Physical Therapists, and Techs. They made sure I was comfortable, medicated, and checked on constantly. They all were always friendly, patient, and sensitive to my needs and comfort. They are a top rated number one care hospital. I highly recommend them. The Physical Therapy department are stellar and well trained. They explain what they are doing, why, and the benefit to you you will receive from it, and why is is necessary to you healing properly. What a great team who work well together in team work. Records are carefully kept on your as you progress with your healing. They are careful to keep you within the bounds of your capability as you progress.

Went to the Emergency room at 5am and got right in because no one was waiting. I even got a little private room. It was slow going but eventually all tests were run. The doctor wanted to rule out everything before sending me home. I had bloodwork and urine and eventually I had a CAT scan. That took a while. The nurses were all very nice and kind. I had one problem. When the nurse came to take blood she must have been new and got right in the vein and almost got one tube when it wouldn't give any more so instead of moving it a bit and giving up, she worked for about 10 minutes slapping, poking and squeezing my arm and moving the needle around to try get it working again. No luck. They did use the arm for the intravenous, but when I was done and they removed the needle my vein hurt and was hard. My arm has continued to hurt me for the past 3 weeks and the vein still has a hard section to it. As I was walking out I was not allowed to leave unless I paid. The woman at the payment desk told me I had to pay something, but the gentleman that took my info earlier that day told me they would send me a bill. So here I am all drugged up and this woman is shaking me down for money. I did convince her to let me out, but I got a dirty look. All in all it was bad and I wasn't as sick as I thought I was. Just wish the beds in the ER were more comfy since I was in one for so long.

Staff extremely friendly, but obviously overworked and often not available when needed- they do try hard, though. My father was admitted through ER on a Monday morning and did not get bathed until Friday- no one even offered to clean blood off his hands (I took care of this). Physical plant very poor. Elevators not working properly, toilets leaking, cords and wires stretched everywhere, including across the floors. Entrances to hospital are kept pretty shiny but the patient areas seem a little dirty. The patient rooms are sadly in need of major upgrade. The hospital still uses multi-bed wards on some floors for patient care. My father is severely hearing-impaired and due to being in a noisy 4-bed ward (only 3 patients during his admit), he was usually unable to hear instructions or explanations or to converse with family.

NO BIG DETAILS. I received a CAT SCAN and the problem was correctly diagnosed I was requested to stay I refused and I was sent home with the proper medication I would recommend ST. Josephs to anyone. Dr. David Lane is the doctor who helped me. And after I got out of the hospital he told me to follow up with my primary care doctor and he told that Dr. David Lane did exactly what he would have done and I could not ask for better treatment.

I had surgery here twice and the care was very good. The nurses are wonderful. I don't happen to like hospitalist and they do use those and that's one of my complaint and I don't know if the other hospitals do too. I had surgery there last February 2012. I had a private room both times that I was there. The care and the physical therapy and things that I received there were excellent. I don't know everybody who could say anything other than he is an excellent doctor. I have medicare and Medicare takes care of my billing.

I was having a full blown gallbladder attack and needed help
immediately. The ER staff at St. Joe's was actually quite good. My
biggest complaint was with the ER Physician. This woman was 9 months
pregnant (should not have been working!!) and clearly felt worse than I
did. She was very unpleasant and most disinterested. I would not go back
to St. Joe's ER just because of of this Dr.. I would be afraid that I
would be seen by her again and I might as well have just stayed home.
She reported to me that I had and quot;pancreatitisand quot; which was not true. (My surgeon advised me of this).
I ended up having my gallbladder removed at St. Mary's hospital and was
very happy with my Surgeon (Dr. Pedersen) and the St. Mary's hospital
staff.

It was excellent all the way around and it turned out to be an allergy. If you go in with a breathing issue, they'll take you, faster.

It was really good. The test itself was not that good. The people did a great job. The customer service was really good. Their customer service stood out. They were very friendly and knowledgeable. My experience was short with them but it was pleasant. In terms of availability, I do not remember feeling negative about it. They were very punctual. The billing and administration were good. I did have to call their customer service at one point to get my questions answered and it was good. I would go back to St. Joseph's Hospital without hesitation.

The care was exceptional overall. There was only one doctor there, the admitting doctor, that I didn't care for his bedside manner. But overall they were quick, efficient, and thorough. The lower grades are directed for the admitting doctor, but the emergency room treatment was good. The admitting doctors attitude was you smoke and so you deserve everything you get. Yes, I do smoke but that doesn't mean I should receive any different care from anyone else.

I was well taken care of. My husband has had two surgeries there prior to that and he received excellent nursing care. The only negative that I would say is the cleanliness of the rehabilitation section. It's an older section and with the economic situation I assume they cut back on staff. Not perhaps nursing staff but certainly maintenance staff so that did leave something to be desired. Check in was excellent.

It took a long time to get in. Everyone had a very good manner. They gave him a cat scan which was scary. The hospital staff felt bad about it because he was shaken up. It was a good experience.
