Some of the issues consisted of the following:
1. Refused to clean our floors with the product I requested, even if I offered to purchase and supply it for their use. She cleaned the floors with straight ammonia which was too powerful of a smell for us. I requested PineSol . After many onversations, she changed to lemon scented ammonia, but would not use what I requested.
2. I repeatedly had so ask for tasks to be done that were to be included in the ?normal? house cleaning, such as cleaning my bathroom baseboards from dirt, dust and hair, cleaning the dust from the top of the tub surrounds, cleaning dried food stuck to the baseboard and wall where my pets were fed, cleaning ceiling fans, and wiping the hanging glassware on the bar when they became gray because of the dust. When pointing these items out, they may or may not be done because she ?forgot? or in the case of wiping down the glassware, ?it takes too long?. Sometimes these items were done and sometimes not, but I had to continually ask when I noticed dirt accumulating on the above areas. From what I could tell, the ceiling fan in the living room was not cleaned beyond the first cleaning.
3. I asked that she stop using Comet to clean the porcelain toilets. It?s very abrasive and I also noticed that the toilet got a film and dirty quicker than when I used a disinfecting toilet bowl cleaner. This was a battle withSage. When I tried to talk to her on the
phone about it she did not agree and hung up on me. I called her back and was going to terminate her services, but she apologized and became very nice. She agreed to use the liquid toiled bowl cleaner that I requested. I again even offered to supply this, but she would not let me. After this, I do know that Comet was used again on my toilets.
4. Routinely noticed items being cleaned around instead of moving and cleaning the complete area. I brought this up regarding
chairs, floor lamps and other items that were able to be easily moved by sliding them on the tile.
During the year, when I had problems, I would call and talk to Sage. She told me many times that she appreciated the way that we communicated and liked the fact that I worked with her and allowed her to fix any problems or issues. She also commented multiple times the challenges of being 75 years old and running this business.
Before the last cleaning, we had moved two small surround sound speakers sitting on the floor, from against the wall. It looked
as if these speakers had never been moved to clean behind them. There was dirt, pet hair and dead bugs (I wish I could post the pictures). I left a note for Sage for the 12/3/14 cleaning asking that they be pulled out and cleaned behind during this cleaning as well as for any future cleanings. Her hand written response to the note was ?We will be happy to do this?.
The next day on 12/4/14, I received an email from Sage saying ?This is to notify you, effective immediately, we will no longer be available to clean your home.?, and that was all.... I called her because she still had the keys to our house. She said that she ?would get them back when she could and that she was out of town right now?. I asked that she not come to our house but to mail them. I told her that it was very unprofessional to send me an email with no explanation about anything, at which point she cut me off and said ?It?s not up for discussion? and hung up on me. After a week of time and not receiving my house keys back, nor hearing from her, I emailed and told her that I would be changing the locks in my house and she would be responsible for that unnecessary cost. Within two days, I received the house keys sent by Express Mail.
The examples I listed above were the major ones. I didn?t list many minor ones along the way. I gave this service many, many chances and see now that I shouldn?t have. She chose to quit with no reason or notice before the Holidays. With my busy schedule, this really left me stuck and in a bind. If you want quality work and professionalism, do not use this service. I could never recommend it to anyone.
