I was not very satisfied. because I asked him to itemize his costs. when he was on-site and I was showing him the bathroom I asked him to be completely itemized because I can't spend thousands of dollars on the bathroom so I need to know what stuff is going to cost so that way if something costs way too much I could decide to cut some stuff out and not end up doing it that way. He said that was fine, everything was fine and that he would do that. Then when he did send me the quotes plus the 3-D sketch drawings, which were pretty lame, the $7,000 quote was not itemized. He itemized some things, but the things he did itemize only added up to about $3,000 so I needed to know where the other $4,000 was being spent because it was not all broken down so I had no idea what the actual costs are. He said $7,000 was a very reasonable price for what I wanted done in the bathroom and I told him I don't think he understood what I was asking for. He did not listen to me. I have had people come in and give me free quotes. I thought this was a good deal because I thought I was getting a blueprint, but the blueprint was not what I wanted. I grant you that there was a communication breakdown.
"Angies List Member is correct with the exception that we did not miss "appointments". We missed one appointment which was totally my fault. I did have to reschedule two times, not three times, due to illness. I had emergency hernia surgery and it caused our appointments to get backed up. It was difficult after the surgery to keep up with my schedule and I did reschedule an appointment with the homeowner for 5 PM in the afternoon. I don't normally make appointments that late in the day but it was the only time that the homeowner had available. When I finished with my 4PM appointment I was in pain from the surgery, as was normal at that time of the day, and I headed home. The homeowner called at 5:30 and I realized that I had missed his appointment. I told him that I would be right out. I arrived at 6PM and apologized for my oversight. I spent well over an hour with the homeowner and another gentlemen, discussed his project, provided my ideas, and followed up with a design and quote for the project. The homeowner never responded to my design or quote. Normally, after we submit our design we then communicate with the homeowner to fine tune the design and to incorporate any ideas that they may have. . The missed appointment did happen as stated but it is definitely not the norm. We have completed well over 500 remodels over the past 14 years with a record of less that 1% critical reviews. It is a record that we are proud of."
What I received was a 2" x 3" drawing with the refrigerator where I said I didn't want it and my kitchen range in an impossible configuration (oven opens out towards me). There was no cook-top or wall oven in the drawing. The cabinets were the same cabinets I currently have in the house. I also received four computer generated drawings showing several angles of the same wall of the kitchen. The drawings showed the granite countertops I said I did not want. There were no drawings of the opposite wall.
After explaining again what I wanted, Mr. Rosetti tried several times to reconfigure the drawing on his computer to no avail. I gave up. I'm out $75, but the good news - they are not remodeling my kitchen.
"On our initial visit we spent more than an hour listening to [member name removed] and taking measuremets. We returned a week later with our preliminary drawings. As [member name removed] viewed them she expressed concern with the placement of the refrigerator and the range. I explained why I placed them as I did and she said that she would like the refrigerator on the opposite wall. We use a CAD program for our drawings and as she spoke I switched the refrigerator to the suggested wall and explained that it disrupted the flow of traffic in that position. I also made several other changes as she expressed her ideas and in the end it seemed that our original design appeared to work the best. [member name removed] was not happy with our original design or any of the changes that we made at her suggestion. In any event this was our initial visit and we always anticipate additional visits until we are able to complete a design that is functional, attractive and pleasing to the customer. On this occasion we left with the understanding that [member name removed] would , at her suggestion, visit the appliance store and look for new appliances that might make a better fit in her kitchen. We did not hear back from [member name removed] and were surprised when we read her review. [member name removed] remarks at the end of her review, " the good news - they are not remodeling my kitchen. We never asked to remodel her kitchen. Our intention in providing a design service is to provide a workable design that is pleasing to the customer. We never anticipate that we will be doing the job when we complete a design. In this project we had not reached that stage. At the conclusion [member name removed] would have received completed drawings. The drawings that she was shown were our working drawings , not meant to be a final drawing. We would be happy to meet with [member name removed] again and work on her design until she has a workable design that she is happy with as that was our original intention. We never gave [member name removed] reason to believe that we were finished with her project . We are not new to this business and have been involved in all aspects of the construction business for over 40 years."
