I recently had the misfortune of hiring “Rogos” to redo the floors in my home. What was supposed to be a simple renovation turned into a full-blown horror story. Let me share my spine-chilling experience: 1. The Unholy Installation Ritual: we paid a moving company to move all of our furniture out into a pod, moved our three dogs and three cats, two kids and two adults into a small Airbnb for three weeks. Imagine that all this costs at least $8000. 2. The “Artistic” Approach: Gabriel Rodriguez. To start, he is a misogynist and spoke down to me on the phone and in person when he came for an estimate. When my husband was present, he was a different person and stated that our current tile was “fine”, and they would just pour concrete over the top. Little did we know this would just be a band aid for still having tile cracking underneath in multiple areas of the house. When we called to have them reevaluate about six months after when the floor started to crack and elevate, they returned and said they would fix it for Amir $3000. Once I was done, the floor in this 2’ x 10’ area was a completely different color than the rest of our house. They then stated they would fix the color of the rest of the house to match for another mere few thousand dollars. Fast forward another two weeks, we have dog hair stained and sealed into our floors. The staining is now becoming bleached and cracked in multiple areas as in photos below. 1. The Stain Saga: the colors in this house are absolutely egregious (after their “fix”, but also before). None of the floors are the same color as other parts of the home, there’s a whirlpool right in the middle of our living room (see photo), the baseboards were supposed to be same color as the floor however, at least 10 shades darker and still multiple different color, also with deterioration less than a year out. 2. The Creaking Symphony: the two year warranty on the contract that Hass to be signed, does not cover anything, so why do they have one? We have multiple areas of cracks and splits in the floor due to the fact that they recommended we didn’t rip out the current tile. 3. Customer Service Nightmare: When I called to express my dissatisfaction, Kevin was the only reasonable human. He came to the house and admitted it was horrible, he couldn’t fathom what a horrific job and stated he wouldn’t be able to live here. He also admitted Gabriel has had a history of treating females in a derogatory manor, then we quickly learned Gabriel’s brother is the owner of the company. Their only offer was that they could redo and repaint the floors for “”free, however, again another 8000+ dollars would have to be spent to move out and rent an Airbnb for a month which is not possible for us after we spent $25,000 plus on this hack job Conclusion: Avoid “Rogos.” at all costs. If you value your sanity, stick to carpet or invest in a pair of levitating shoes. My home now doubles as a haunted attraction.

I don't know how I discovered Rogo's Finishing Touch (I put out a multiple requests on Facebook for nearby neighbors that had epoxy work done). I should've looked at their reviews here first! They came in with the cheapest rate and the largest military discount, but I guess you get what you pay for. They didn't arrive on time for the first day. Apparently the installer's truck was too low to make it up my driveway. Don't know why he wasn't in a company truck...that they ended up using anyway. They used a standard floor buffer to grind the floor, unlike the other companies that I got estimates from that said they use machines that are attached to vacuums to minimize the dust. Well I've been cleaning dust from everywhere in my garage, unfortunately. They did a good job at masking the baseboard, but did a lousy job removing it! I knew that there would be some damage to the baseboards, but I anticipated painting them as soon as the epoxy was cured. Unfortunately, I had to spend over an hour going around on my hands and knees removing stuck on masking tape from the entire perimeter before I could begin painting. The actual epoxy job was ok. I found some areas that were missed or the the colored chips were way too thick and have rough edges sticking up through the epoxy. After doing some research on polyasprartic coatings there a number of variables to determine quality and the primary one is thickness. Can't tell you if they cut corners there and only time will tell. I have a 2-year workmanship warranty and I will be watching the calendar closely! Unfortunately, I cannot recommend them and recommend paying a few hundred dollars more and to with a company that has a proven track record as verified by reviews.

The experience was soooo disappointing. They had previously done our kitchen and it was fabulous. When we reduced our job from the living room to the hallway, they sent out someone (nice person) who didn't speak a word of English. I honestly don't know how to communicate well in Spanish, "this doesn't look like the flat concrete we requested." Nothing was resolved and when I called Rogo's to complain, no callback. Wow, I wish it were the old Rogo's I could recommend but, for small jobs, please look elsewhere. If you have an expensive house and a lot of disposable income, I think you'll be happy with the quality of their product.

The work went fine, but so frustrated with them not showing up on time the second day. They were about 4 hours late and we found out we were lied to about the reason they were late. I have to say that Steve Rodriguez has been a wonderful partner of ours and I don't blame him, but someone at the office definitely lied about why the team was late. Yet, the office called for the last payment before the guys were even out the door. Maybe they should be as responsive when they have a team late for arrival as no one ever called us. Frustrated.

Communication from the office staff was excellent. Project was delayed 3 different times but we were notified ahead of time. Only one worker was sent to do the job. He was a nice guy but not detail oriented. He misunderstood what we wanted done and didn't ask or clarify. He was somewhat sloppy, edges were not neatly finished and he did not clean up well. Supervisor did call to check on his work then sent him back out to clean up. Supervision before or during project might have helped.

Great, they were great.  They were really responsive and timely in coming to give me a quote.  They were very friendly and professional.  Took the time to explain the process what the cement overlay is. Explained it in layman's terms.  The workers were also very prompt, professional clean, cleaned up after themselves really well.  Very reliable.  They did a great job.  It was really good, I am very happy with it. It is great.

We hired Rogo's to install concrete flooring throughout our great room, foyer, kitchen, laundry room, and guest bath. Most of the area was already tiled, but there was one section of carpeting. Rogo himself came to the house to discuss the process and to give us a bid. The bid arrived almost immediately. Rogo invited us to his fabulous showroom with many examples of their work, where he spent a good deal more time with us to make sure that we understood the process his crew would use and to identify the color we wanted. The carpeting was removed and disposed of, and the cement floor underneath was ground smooth. The area was then built up to the level of the surrounding tile before concrete was overlaid on the entire area. The crew was fast and efficient, and also very pleasant. They made sure that I approved the color before applying it to the entire floor. The end result is gorgeous, and we get many compliments on it. The entire process took a week, but they had a large area to cover. It is a dusty, messy, and noisy process, but the result is worth it. It is important to allow the floor to cure (harden) for the requisite time before replacing furniture to ensure the best results. We are so pleased that we intend to have them do the floor in the rest of the house too.

Gilbert was so professional. I was in Chicago when the work was being done, and he called and sent pictures as we were proceeding. When my landscaper laid a huge double scratch across a fifteen foot area, Gilbert sent the crew back to repair this at no charge. And finally, when I got back to see the patio and thought some of the squares came out too light, he said no problem, they could fix it and they would pay for the materials if I paid the modest fee of $250 for the labor. Given that I had picked that light color and the fault was mine, I thought that was more than fair. I absolutely would use them again. They were great!

The tile work was fine but they cleaned buckets or dumped product in my front yard which killed some plants.  The ground smelled like the sealant they put on the tile.

Wow!  Do we love out floor!  Albert was our estimator and contact person throughout the process.  He helped us pick our color and did an in-home consult to get an idea of our personalities and our intentions for a new floor.  We went with a burnt orange type of color after consulting with Albert in the show room.  Because our job was so big, Rogos threw-in a free garage epoxy.  Awesome.  With 2 dogs and 2 cats, we've kissed carpet good-bye forever!

This is a follow-up to an earlier report.
After about 18 months, the overlay began to chip and peel.  Now, less than 3 years later, it looks horrible.  We hired another contractor to repair the overlay and they were able to remove a lot of the old overlay just by scraping with a putty knife.  The prep work was so shoddy that the stuff didn't even adhere.
We had a larger area done by another company (now out of business) in 2005 and the only chip in it is where I dropped a masonry chisel point down on it from about 10 feet high.
Rogo's is miserable to deal with, does shoddy work, and gets threatening when called on it.  Good company to stay away from.
I'll do a report on the company doing the repair when the repair is finished.

The work was completed the next day, the work that Rafael does is top notch he worked for another company in the past that did my original floor.
I would not recommend them and this is why:
1) their bids/agreements are not well written leading to surprises and added cost
2) they lack appreciation for the customer and their time
3) the sales representatives do not respond to e-mails in a timely manner
4)  dihonesty on the side of the sales representative by indicating that I needed work done at a high cost, where other bidders were honest and suggested at a loss of business to them that I could save money by doing it myself.

We called in Rogos when another contractor did a terrible job and we needed it redone. Rogos was professional and courteous, and they did an excellent job. We had no problems with them at all, and are very pleased. We plan to use them again in other rooms of the house.

They were responsive and they did a good job. They did have to fix something they damaged. They pushed the buttons on my Jacuzzi and there wasn't water in it. The motor was running for 2 1/2 hours until I got home and they hadn't called to let me know that they did that. I called them and the supervisor said that his crew told him and he forgot to call me. He sent somebody out to fix it. I have to call them back because some of the stain doesn't look like it adhered to part of the room. I will have to see if they come back to correct the problem.

You couldn't ask for better service. They were right on time for the estimate and all service appointments. The work was done professionally and with great care. When some small repair work was needed in order to proceed, they did that as well. Nearly the entire house is stone flooring. They did the whole job in 2 days (actually 1/2 day quicker than the estimate). We were so pleased, we had them treat and seal the 3 car garage (separate report).

Bubbling appeared on either side of my front door a short time after each correction was made, The walkway was as slippery when wet as stepping on ice every time they left. They kept saying they would correct the problem, but it remained the same until 10/18/2010, when they left me with a glaring white/gray walkway that is not slippery, looks terrible, and has terrible workmanship They told me this is the way it has to be to be non slippery. It does not blend with the house or the neighborhood and is an eyesore. Upon investigating on my own, I discovered that there are products on the market that will allow me to have the tinted walkway that was here when I bought the house, but it can be non slippery when wet. I have filed a complaint with the AZ department of contractors

Workers arrived on scheduled day. Brought out what looked like a wax buffer which took away shine from floor but not gouges and flaking from previous work. I was told this is the process. Rogo came out himself when I was concerned about the color and finish of the floor. Parts of the floor were bubbling. I overheard Rogo tell his workers "finish this mess and get out of here as fast as possible." Rogo obviously did not know I understood Spanish. When I asked the workers about this, they were very embarrassed and tried to do their best. However, they were not given the ok by Rogo to finish the floor to make it look like there were no damages to the floor from the breakin. I will never use this company again. I welcome anyone who may be thinking of using them to come by and see the patch work manner they used to fix my red concrete floors. It may save someone else a lot of discouragement. I thought a long time about reporting this, but I don't think what they did is fair and decent. The workers also removed paint from the base boards when they removed the tape from same. NO offer was made by company to fix that.

The workers were on time and knew what they were doing. When I had this work done by a different company on a different house, the job was more expensive but much better looking. The workers could not get the colors to work the way I wanted. In the job in the other house, the workers colored the "grout" lines so that they looked like grout. Rogo's people said they don't do that. I think the job was ok overall, but I would not hire them to do it again.

The job, estimated for 3 days, took 5 and the workers left without telling me they were done. It was a lousy job and I complained. One of the workers came back and spent a couple hours and again left without telling me. Still a lousy job. Gilbert came back with a bad attitude and said that the floor wasn't that bad and some of the bad parts could be "floated" by the installer. Remember, he told me the floor had to be perfect. I told him that the work needed to be finished within 3 days as I had hired a different company to lay the tile. His people didn't show. When they finally came, I had finished cleaning the floor and the tile people were laying the new tile. He then threatened to go to the Registry of Contracts against us for refusing to pay his balance, but didn't do it. We also had them install a concrete overlay on the patio. I will rate that separately, but the job was barely adequate.

I went to their showroom which is very nice and has lots of things to choose from. I chose the pattern and the colors to be used. They did a great job. It came out just the way I wanted. My daughter had a major part of her house done and again it looks great. When she moved the vanity in her bathroom, they came back out and made a new part of the flooring to match the old. I get a lot of compliments on that floor. I wish it were cheaper but it is terrific.

It's been a long time but I will never recommend them to anyone. Quoted putting in the tile in an artistic layout but just layed them down in rows. His labor prices were a lot higher than others but the realtor, apparently his friend, said he'd do a fantastic job. We can't agree.

We initially had them in to fix up our concrete floors. The floors are colored concrete that has been scored and polished to look like tile. They have never looked good because the previous owners at some point resealed the floors without cleaning them first. There was dirt trapped in the grooves and on the "tiles" so that the floor always looked dirty, but almost nothing I did to clean them (chemical treatments, commercial cleaning products, etc.) worked. Only two things worked: One: a rotary tool with a sanding drum cleaned out the scoring nicely but wore out drum really fast--it would have taken 50 drums to clean all the scoring; Two: a paste made of straight baking soda and bleach and a LOT of elbow grease. Using this paste, I managed to clean small patches of the floor (and removing the sealer in the process), but didn't have the energy to do the whole house that way. So when Gabe from Rojo's said they could strip and reseal for $1.25 a square foot, I was delighted. I explained all of the above to him and showed him the spots I had "cleaned" and then the ones where the dirt was trapped. The workers were prompt, communicative, and professional, but I was disappointed with the results. Although the floors gleamed with the new sealer coat, all the trapped dirt was still there. I called Gabe, and he came right over. I asked why they had not stripped the floors before they resealeld. He said they had. It turned out that "stripping" meant washing with a heavy duty cleanser. It did NOT mean removing the removing the original sealer. He said that no company does that anymore, because the chemicals required are banned by OSHA. I have not idea if that's true or not. I was very annoyed that he did not explain this when we were discussing the trapped dirt. Gabe offered to take 50% off the bill, which I accepted. So I can't say I was happy with the result, and I'm still annoyed that Gabe did not communicate better, but I am satisfied with the resolution. (I am also annoyed that he didn't explain during the original estimate that they wouldn't be moving appliances or large furniture. We have a large wall unit on wheels, and if I hadn't happened to stop in while the workers were there and showed them they could roll it out of the way, they would have just left it in place and worked around it.) Rogo's also did a concrete overlay in a bedroom that had been carpeted. It turned out gorgeous, and exactly as expected. Gabe met me at the showroom to select the color mix I wanted and worked with me to get it exactly right. The upshot is, Rogo's worked hard to make me happy, but my feelings are mixed. I have given up on "cleaning" the original concrete floors, and when I have the $$$, I will have Rojo's do an overlay concrete as well. It will be expensive ($4/sq ft), but I am sure they will do a great job.
