It went badly. I would advise against doing any serious horology with the Rainbows. They are not in a position to provide this service, it seems.
I went to them (having previously dealt with them satisfactorily on other matters) to have my Omega watch repaired. The date dial gets stuck on the 15th of the month. They took the watch in about November of 2013 and I did not see it again until about February-March 2014. They told me their horologist is in Philadelphia and the watch would be mailed to him for repair and would return in a couple of weeks. Then months went by, and they never contacted me. I repeatedly called or went to their store and enquired. After much apology, and 3 or 4 months going by, finally they told me the watch was fixed. Perhaps indeed they thought it was.
Clearly they understood that I was displeased. Actually, I was totally disgusted with the service, having been told over and over it would be just a few more weeks. I think principally they sell and repair jewelry. Possibly they are very good at that. But for watches not so much, at least in my case. Probably their horologist in Philly let them down.
As a gesture of further apology they offered me a new watch band for free. The repair bill was $180 or so, which I paid. After returning home, I discovered that in fact nothing had been done to repair the watch, after so many months. It still gets stuck on the 15th. So in effect I paid $180 for a new $18 watchband. Had they not utterly disgusted me with their shabby service, I might have gone back to demand a refund. Instead, I resolved never to do business with them again. It's not that I think them dishonest. Rather I think they are incompetent to deal with watch repair and would best serve their customers by sending them elsewhere, for anything other than battery replacement.
My ratings relate solely to my watch-repair experience.
