(1) They were WONDERFUL!!!! This was a lengthy remodel due to the extensive damage caused by water. Assessed problem; presented outline of plan; made sure I understood all aspects of work; arrived on time; tore out entire ceiling and replaced it along with new insulation; repainted entire room; cleaned carpets. Excellent job; very satisfied
(2) Thoroughly inspected suspected area; took moisture readings; analyzed situation and gave me a complete explanation of what happened. Went on roof to inspect and re-affirm diagnosis. Over and above customer service! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

They were fine.  They got it all done except longer than I think it should have been.  The computation came in with my insurance, not so much for Paul Davis so I ended up having to pay more than I wanted to go.  It wasn't their fault.  They actually try to do the best they could with the insurance and everything.  I thought they were very available.  I didn't feel like I was getting contacted by their representative.  The owner actually was available for me to talk to.  If I wasn't happy, I was still being heard.  I would say they do above average job and the final product was very professional.  They helped me out with some other issues too, it happened after the initial job.  They were just very helpful and completed the work to my satisfaction.  They went along with what the appraiser said.  The computation came in because of some speculation in my insurance that causes the problem.  They actually did probably more than they would have normally done.

The fire was in december 2012. The work started in January 2013. The work was done on and off. There were weeks that nothing got done! The job should have taken about 6 mounths. It took about 13 months to compleat. Durring that time my family had to stay in a motel.

I didn't end up going with them because they were expensive. It took a little while for the guy to come up.

I hired this company in 1998 when it was a general remodeling contractor, not just an emergency plumbing service. The work was originally promised to take just five days, but ended up taking five months. Needless to say there were many missed and rescheduled work days. They remodeled the shower in the master bath, replaced the sink, vanity, and fixtures, and repaired and repainted damaged drywall. They also reframed and replaced a 6x8 picture window in the front of the house built a small glass block wall and installed a storm door and metal roof in a small porch. The porch work was a bit beyond their skill level as the porch roof leaks, the glass block was installed over damaged adobe brick with no prior repair or preparation, and they changed the glass block design so that the storm door did not fit properly and I had to hire a subcontractor to correct the door alignment. The contract called for two finish coats of paint on all woodwork, but the wood was only primed.
The shower tile work was well done, except the base layer at the foot of the opening was not level so when the glass shower door was hung, it leaked at the base. The large picture window wood framing is now cracking and leaks during heavy rain. The paint work in the bathroom walls and the vanity installation was mediocre and the shower valve was installed incorrectly so that future repair or replacement of the valve will require imaginative means to divert water from the pipes from running down inside the wall and causing internal damage behind the tile. This was because the plumber refused to read the installation instructions for the special fixture (hansgrohe).
The sanded grout used in the shower began to fail within a few months and over the next two years the owner sent his newly hired tile specialist several times to fill the cracked grout with a matching calking. I was told that these cracks in the grout were a normal occurrance due to settling. Recently, however, the grout has begun to crack and break up in several areas, including the floor. This means that the grout now absorbs water and does not dry out between uses, so we have had to stop using the shower and apply heat to dry out the permanently wet areas. When I sent pictures of the cracking grout to the franchise owner, he showed them to his tile specialist, who now says he does not know what is causing the grout to fail. The owner said that if I contact him again in two months he will have his tile man ?look at it.? This is the same tile expert who has already looked at the pictures and stated he does not know the cause of the grout failure. The owner did not offer to do anything except look at the problem. He feels he is under no obligation to do anything at all because his warranty is only for two years, the same as the limitation the Registrar of Contractors imposes on complaints (so it is too late to file a complaint with the Registrar). This also means that I must wait for 60 days without using the shower for the man who has already looked at the pictures and says he does not know the cause of the problem, just to look at the problem. When I told the owner that I would need to hire someone else to address this problem immediately and sue him for the additional cost, he withdrew his offer to have his man look at the problem in two months.

Response from Paul Davis Restoration & Remodeling Of Tucson
"The customer is factually wrong. We pulled the necessary permits and all inspections were approved by the City of Tucson. As we found in the process of her remodel, the customer does have open permits from previous work that did not pass inspections. She made no complaints against our license and the statement is unwarranted. I am sincerely sorry we were unable to please her as we try every day to satisfy our customers and we are successful 99.9% of the time. Paul Davis is a national company with over 300 locations. Our Tucson office is one the top offices for customer service! Paul Davis of Tucson is member of Contractor Connection which has over 4,000 professional contractors. Paul Davis Restoration & Remodeling of Tucson has been consistently ranked in the top 100 contractors in this nationwide network of contractors. I asked Paul Davis to give me an estimate for a bunch of work I needed done on our house.  Unfortunately I was not able to be in town so I asked Rich to stop by my friend's house to pick up a key to the house, which he kindly did.  Knowing that I wasn't able to be there for the estimate, I wrote out an extremely detailed synopsis of everything I wanted him to evaluate.  I also took a lot of time to draw up two floor plans with the location of everything plotted out to make it as easy as possible for him.  After he went out to the house he called and asked me what I wanted to do about it without telling me what work he thought was required.  Additionally, he didn't mention several items I had listed in the email and noted on the floor plan.  It was then that he told me he didn't read the email, he only printed out the pictures (and still missed several items).  He asked if he'd be able to go back out with a few other guys but I couldn't get him access to the house again before needing the work done.  I asked if he would be able to give an estimate based on what he already had seen and read in the email.  I never got a reply and never got an estimate.  Never even heard from him again.  It might have been just one bad experience but I will not ask him for a quote in the future.

"[member name removed] We apologize for not being able to satisfy your request for a bid on this property. The detailed drawings and synopsis were nice and helpful. But as I explained in one of my emails to you, it was crucial for my other contractors to view the property. We take our estimates very seriously. Giving you an incomplete, rounded figure of an estimate would not have been fair to you. This is an unfortunate scenario in which limited access did play a role. Paul Davis has an outstanding reputation serving Tucson and the surrounding areas with high quality - accurate - Mold Damage Repair, Fire Damage, Water Damage and Remodeling service. Thank you for the opportunity [member name removed], I'm sorry I was not able to help. Sincerely, Rich Tolton - Owner"

We were happy with the work they did for us.  The insurance covered the cost.  They were helpful, and responsive.  We had quite a few issues with the prior company, but they took charge and things ended up much better.  We would tell others to have confidence in their work.  Overall we did have to keep on top of it.  Their price was fair.

I had one shot at getting the right plumber. It was 2am and they answered the phone fast. I believe they may have prevented a major flood from damaging my upstairs. I have polybutylene and will probably use then to replace it.
