Matt Palmer installed the wall correctly, and the permabase was installed correctly on the bathroom floor. Otherwise, the job was performed unacceptably, and I'm just glad that I stopped them when I did, and hadn't paid this installer more money than what they should receive for what they did correctly. I'm just sorry that I am having to eat the cost of the scrapped materials, as the tile we purchased from Daltile was not cheap. I found the first contractor through a Google search of tile installers in Tucson. I found our new installer through a search on Angie's List. I did file a complaint with Arizona Contractors, and Jerry refunded most of what I was out on this job. I was also able to use the left over tile in our hall bathroom .. of course, Jason of Desert Iguana did the work. So, I was only out about $500 when all was said and done. I have heard that all these companies have to do is change their name, and they are back in business. I have included names here because I want others to know that this tile installer may be good at installing pools, but he should not be installing showers!
Description of Work: Jerry Parra had Matt Palmer remove the shower stall and the wall separating the shower from the bathtub and then build up the pony wall next to it a little higher so we could expand our shower over a foot longer than it was. This was done well; however, Jerry ran into a vent pipe that passed through the wall. He had to cut it, and divert the pipe under the shower floor. I did not see him do this work, and I am concerned that it may not have been done correctly. His helpers did a poor job of installing the tile in the shower, which is when I decided to have another tile installer examine the work that was done. This tile installer agreed with me that the tile was installed poorly, AND he identified a major code violation in the installation of the shower pan. The more experienced tile installer will be ripping out the shoddy work and tiling our new shower. You can see the review of the new installer's work under Desert Iguana Tile, Jason Sanchez.
