I would not ever use them again. The guys that came, they tried to sell me this and get me to do this and get me to do that to my plumbing. All I needed was it cleaned out. They told me, ?okay, well, it?s going to cost this much to do this.? And I said, ?well, I don?t want that done.? And then they went out and called the boss. To me, that?s just is a red-flag scamming thing. And then they came back with a lower price and I just was not happy with it.
This review is for work performed for my mother. She has used Mr. Rooter a couple of times, as they are always the first plumber to respond if she has an issue. She told me the previous repairs seemed well done but were pretty expensive - when she told me they charged her $1600 to replace a 40 gallon gas water heater, I almost fell over!!! Talk about taking advantage of the elderly. The water heater they installed is $289 retail at a local plumbing supply house. The water heater is easily accessed on her outside back porch and all they had to do is disconnect, reconnect and haul away the old heater.
They are polite, prompt and neat, but don't let that lull you into trusting that they are giving you a good price. There is a deal for this same job from an A rated plumber on Angie's List right now for $549.
I had recently had the washing machine back up during draining and my daughter commented that her tub was draining very slow. Approx 3 yes ago I had similar problems all over the house and had someone out who snaked from the roof to the city sewer connection and have not had problems until now - I explained that I wanted that service again.
Additionally, the company had a coupon for a low flow, high efficiency toilet and install - so I asked if it could be done at the same time -and was told yes.
They set up a time for 4-6p that day - wonderful. I left work early. The company called and stated Justin would be there between 4-430. Justin arrived right at 4p. He was clean, professional and very courteous all while telling me they don't get on the roof, its a company policy. I stated that I was clear with Julie that was the service I was requesting. He stated he would contact his supervisor and that he would make that decision. While waiting, Justin went through the house evaluating all of the drains and their access as well as the sewer cleanout.
I showed him the toilet I was planning on replacing and he stated he didn't know anything about the toilet and didn't have one on his truck.
When Justin's supervisor arrived he informed me that I needed to be educated about why I was asking for an inferior service.
He spent 20 very loud minutes showing me why snaking is bad and "hydroscrubbing" was best at the cost of $3-6,000.
I stated emphatically, repeatedly, I wanted the service I called and requested. To have all the drains snaked from inside the house was $200-500 per drain and would take a couple of days! I reminded them of the coupon and had them snake the two specific drains. We originally scheduled to do the toilet for Friday - but after looking at the actual cost of a similar toilet and the loss of additional work time - cancelled that service. HUGE BAIT and SWITCH
I waited this long to make sure that everything was working well. So far everything is working well. The plumber came with booties to make sure our floors stayed clean. He did this upon coming and when he returned to put in th new faucet. He was courteous and diligent.
