They made an extra effort to come out as soon as possible, as it's so hot here in the summer. The technician quickly diagnosed the problem and got the system working again. I paid $100 to continue my yearly service maintenance contract and the cost of the service call was included. I have used Hamstra for many, many years and have been very happy with their professionalism and quality of work. I highly recommend them.

I had a problem with my heat pump because the compressor died. I work nights so I came home and he was here. He was very professional but he told me the new compressor would be $1,800 and a new unit would be very expensive. The compressor had a five year warranty but a new unit would be $3,000 with a two year warranty for minor parts, a five year warranty for major parts, and a ten year warranty for the compressor. I ended up replacing the whole unit. The problem I had was trying to get the infoatino that I needed out of him. Maybe he was trying to save me $1,200 but it?s a good thing I pressed because I think this is the better deal. I was working on no sleep and getting information was like pulling teeth. I can see his point on one hand but I don?t want to get an $1,800 part with a bad warranty. I didn?t check around for prices because it is 105 degrees outside so I needed it done right away. I plan on getting the service agreement with them.

It started on a very hot Saturday in July just as one of our beading classes was finishing up (This repair was at my business, not my house.) A customer noticed that our roof was leaking. It was too hot to turn off the A/C so we put a bucket under it and let it leak for the rest of the day. At closing time, I turned the A/C to off and the fan to Auto and left for the weekend. We I got back Tuesday morning, the bucket had about an inch of water in it, but the leaking seemed to have stopped. I turned the A/C back on and by the afternoon it was leaking again. This was the pattern for almost a week. On Thursday I found Hamstra on Angie's List. I spoke with Jason who quoted me $100 for a diagnostic service call and $180 for a twice yearly maintenance contract which I said I would like if the repair bill wasn't too high. I scheduled an appointment for the next day between 10am and noon. Ray came around 10:30 am and I showed him the leaking spot. He went up to the roof to check it out. He said that my drain line and my neighbor's converged into one drain line and that it had been tarred over the last time the roof was done. Since he couldn't get in there to see if the leak was mine or my neighbor's he went ahead and disconnected my line so it would drain onto the roof. When he came inside to tell me this I asked him what our bill was up to so far. He said just $110 (the price of a once annual maintenance plan). This was far less than my expected $100 diagnosis + who knows what in repair cost. He said he would complete the rest of the summer maintenance items and recommended I upgrade to the twice yearly plan that would include a fall tune-up of my heater. I agreed. I also asked him to install a digital programable thermostat if he had time, which he did. Twice yearly service plan $180.00 Thermostat $209.00 Total: $389.00 I am very happy with the service and four days later we're still leak free.

We had an excellent experience with the company. The representative (Mark) was meticulous in going over where we needed the A/C to work (including measuring the area to be cooled and the windows in the area, and noting the position of the rooms/windows to the sun, and mapping it all out) and asking us many detailed questions about what we wanted. Then, because we were home that particular day, he returned later and went over choices he had narrowed down. Having him return again a week after we had the chance to try the system out and to carefully explain all the features we may have missed from the instructions and to answer our many questions was really going the extra mile. The other employees were also very polite and efficient and did a great job of dismantling/installing. The price was a bit high, but we really ended up feeling like we got a superior high-efficiency A/C unit that, along with sealing out the leaky ducts, will pay off in the long run. Plus we feel like they went above-and-beyond what they could have done, and therefore we got good value/quality for the price. Note: The price also includes the extra service of sealing the ducts; plus there are two rebates not deducted from this price ($1500 federal rebate and a $250 Tucson Electric Power rebate).

The service was terrific. I called Hamstra as soon as I noticed the problem and left a message for Hamstra's emergency technician on call to call me. Jason returned my call promptly and scheduled a technician to come to our home. Within an hour John Schenk had arrived. John was a very nice young man who quickly diagnosed the problem (a control board was not working properly) and got our heat pump working again. A new control board was ordered and the permanent repair will be done next week. We were so impressed with John and Hamstra that we also purchased an Energy Savings Agreement ($180 for two heat pumps) through which Hamstra will come to our home annually to completely check out and tune up our two heat pumps. We have used Hamstra before and will definitely used them again.

AC started blowing hot (outside?) air in. No cold. Outside box was silent. Hamstra had best ratings on Angie's List, so we called, they came and after an hour or so of repair work (old fan was rusted in and very hard to get off) the AC was soon working again.. Vital relief in this weather! I realize a less honest company could have (most likely would have) just tried to persuade us that the AC unit was so old it needed replacing. Also, Hamstra's Angie's List discount slip (which you can just print up from AL site) saved us $20.

The service call was actually quite unsatisfactory. The technician was not professional and was combative and a bit arrogant. He was pushy and it was entirely unsatisfactory to the point that my wife sent him away. The work they did for me before was very good and their price was reasonable. It was obviously different people.

The experience itself was quite satisfactory. The technician they sent down was certainly very knowledgeable and very competent. He did the job quite satisfactorily. The only critique I have is that the service itself is a little pricey, but other than that, it was very good.

I spent $390 which was $100 for maintenance and $290 for the thermostat. They did a good job and I was pleased with their work. I found them on the list and I was in Texas, so I did all this by phone. They were able to do everything over the phone and kept me informed about everything that was going on and were timely. They provided a good report on the condition of the heater unit in the house and seemed to be pretty thorough. They did good maintenance on it and fixed up some other lose things that were on the vent and unit and did a good job. They cleaned up after themselves and pointed out that the thermostat was going on and off and it was right under the vent and needed to be replaced. They replaced it and it works pretty well. The price I paid was good and I had the work inspected by my brother because I was not available.

Original diagnosis from another company was that the condensate pan was leaking. They charged an excessive amount, didn't fix it, and said I had to call a plumber to snake the condensate line. The plumber didn't fix it. Frustrated, I joined Angie's list and discovered Hamstra. Their technician correctly diagnosed the leaky coils (they were 25 years old) and temporarily fixed the leak. Their estimate to replace the coils included discounts for the original repair as well as the Angie's list coupon. They arrived on time, finished early, cleaned up after the job - including patching a hole in the wall near where they were working -, and even did some additional repair work (re-glued insulation to the access door). My wife and I were completely impressed with their professionalism. We've found our HVAC provider in Tucson!

They were very prompt and gave a careful estimate and came out twice to make sure that they could install it they way they anticipated. They explained what they were going to do and they were on time and did very food work. The humidifier was making the system go on too often and they replaced that for no charge. They are a high quality operation.

Mark came and talked to us before they submitted an estimate. Wonderful person to work with - he asked what we wanted - what our expectations were, and made some very useful suggestions. He measured the house, looked at what kind of windows that were installed, and took into consideration the high ceilings in some rooms before submitting an estimate. The estimate came in a bit higher than the other estimates, but we were very impressed with Mark and his professionalism. We accepted their estimate and set a date. They arrived on time - it took a day longer than estimated, but that was because of the large hole that was found in the ductwork. The installers were professional and very friendly. After the original install - we decided to re-route some ductwork through a different damper. That work was also done on time and again very professional. Mark made a final walk through to make sure the system was working as intended and to make sure we were happy with the new install. We would hire this company again -- in a split second. They are probably the best contractor we have every worked with.

I woke up to a screeching noise coming from the fan on the furnace. This went on all night every time the heat kicked on. It's January in Tucson so it was warm during the day and I didn't notice that the screeching had led to a non-functioning furnace until the next night when it got COLD!. I called Hamstra about 7:30 in the morning, Jason took my call and sent Mike out within 30 minutes, and the probelm was diagnosed and fixed within an hour. The service I received was professional and friendly, couldn't ask for better.

I called Hamstra to schedule a service call and told them our heater was blowing cold air. They happened to have a man available in our neighborhood so he arrived within 15 minutes. He immediately diagnosed the problem as a dirty flame sensor. It took about 15 minutes to repair. THe only charge was the service call fee of $100. This was about the best experience you can have with a home repair call!

Jeff Hamstra came out to give us the estimate. He was the only vendor to actual do the calculations to determine the accurate size of the unit needed (and he was right on -- the unit was smaller than what we previously had, but it works much better to cool the large space). He was prompt, polite, and efficient. His service guys did a good job. Unfortunately, when I got home after the work was completed, the unit wasn't working properly. I was also unhappy about a minor detail that I did not understand. Jeff and his crew were out first thing in the morning to make it right. They replaced a faulty switch and the unit has worked perfectly every since (I am writing this a few months later after a long hot summer). Jeff worked with me to make sure that I was completely satisfied. I was not the easiest customer to work with (in fact, I was really difficult and unhappy when the unit didn't initially work properly), but Jeff was the consumate professional and worked hard to make things right. He won my trust, respect and admiration.
