I had an extremely disappointing experience using Gabi Kat Grooming for the first time. After viewing images on their Facebook page and seeing that they shave short-haired cats in addition to long-haired, I got in contact with Cheryl to schedule appointments for my two cats. I spoke at length to Cheryl and she confirmed that Gabi does groom and shave “short-hair” cats and I made it clear that that is what I was interested in. Cheryl confirmed that shaving them would be no problem, and the only other thing she mentioned was that sometimes Gabi likes to leave the cat’s hair slightly longer in the winter months. Cheryl said the cost would be $70 a cat and an appointment was made for a few weeks out.
February 14th- Gabi and her assistant arrived 20 minutes late to the designated meeting place in the Fry’s parking lot at Rita Ranch. Gabi estimated that my two cats would take approximately an hour and a half to groom. Only 30-40 minutes later, I get a phone call saying my cats are finished. I thought that seemed rather fast, but my cats do cooperate well when they have been shaved multiple times in the past so I didn’t question it. Upon arriving to pick-up my two cats, they were both back in their kennel already, but I quickly realized that nothing was done in terms of trimming/shaving their hair. I immediately tell Gabi there must have been a misunderstanding because in addition to a bath and nail trim I had scheduled them both to be shaved (that was the entire purpose of booking an appointment). I assumed she would apologize for the misunderstanding and offer to trim them right then, but boy was I mistaken. Instead Gabi goes on to explain to me how shaving is unnecessary and with the type of bath they received I will no longer have allergies and the cats will no longer shed… yeah in a perfect world that would be great, but that’s not how it works. Not to mention, last I checked I was the paying customer and they are MY cats to make decisions on. I asked Gabi if the cost would still be the same considering I only got half of the services I was scheduled for and she said yes, $70/cat. Gabi also questioned if my cats had been spayed. I told her yes they are NEUTERED (both male cats) and they actually were rescued from the E-list at PACC years before with severe URIs, so of course I brought them back to be fixed once they were healthy. In summary, I paid Gabi the $140 and left once I realized she made it clear she had no interest in righting the wrong and wanted to question what kind of cat owner I was.
I called Cheryl and left a voicemail expressing my disappointment once we got back home. Cheryl called me back right away and I had a nice conversation with her where she confirmed that my cats were scheduled to be shaved (she even looked on the computer schedule notes) and she wasn’t quite sure why that didn’t come to be. She asked if I would be willing to reschedule with Gabi again to receive the services that I was promised and I said sure that would be fine. Cheryl apologized for the misunderstanding and told me she would speak with Gabi and get back to me at the end of the day. That was the last I heard from Cheryl. Since then I have left two voicemails with Cheryl that have yet to be returned. The first voicemail I left, I asked if she had spoken to Gabi and could please call me back. The second voicemail I left, I explained I am no longer interested in using their services and at this point I would like a 50% refund considering I only received 50% of the services I was promised.
Sadly, I would not recommend Gabi Kat Grooming after the poor customer service I received.
groomer, I didn't have to go through the trauma of putting our cat in her carrier and no fear of dog interaction. I did have to call twice to set up the appt (1st call wasn't returned for a week so I called back). Gabi and her assistant spent a fair amount of time with our cat and got out all the mats, plus you could go into her grooming van at any time and check on how things were going. Our cat was silky when done but mad because she still doesn't like grooming. Gabi wanted us to set up a standing appt. for every 8-10 weeks. The service was $100 plus tip and that just isn't in our budget. I told her we could afford 2 or 3 times a year. When I emailed to set up the next appt. she said she thought she might be on vacation then. I tried again and she didn't respond. I got the feeling she really wanted clients who used her consistently and not just occasionally.
