We opted for the 7 year warranty paint job and roof coating. There were three year and five year options available for less money.
Everything was washed, patched, caulked and masked well before paint application and there was no damage to plants or paint where it shouldn't be.
James came by after the finish of the job and did a walking inspection of the work with us to make sure we were happy. He also made a video of the second story flat roof surface for our examination.
We had leaks around our windows before the new paint job and after the test of a few monsoon rains the leaks are gone..
Actual painting crew was uniformed, professional, clean.
We are very happy with the result, house looked like new. James came by and carefully reviewed the work and talked to us about what to watch and how things went with a lot of attention to detail.
I gave responsiveness and punctuality a bad rating due only to Five Star's failure to return and finish the job.
As far as the owner, James, we believe he must be overcommitted to other jobs and could not find the time to do the faux job as had been promised. So he "trained" the others to do it in his absence. This was why we hired Five Star, and why we are disappointed in the faux finish. We hired Five Star specifically because we believed James would do the specialty painting, not his helpers.
"The above rating is true and accurate. The members Live in an area I typically don't serve due to the additional time and expense involved. Bless their hearts, They are wonderful people and dealing with them was a pleasure. Managing my workload is a full time job by itself, I should have turned down the job. But I love my trade and sometimes miss doing the work myself. All my customers deserve first rate service and and prompt response. This was a learning experience and I will no longer commit to work in a place that requires my daily presence. I have worked in this town providing quality work and fair prices for over ten years. I have a great reputation for a reason and it this is a reminder that I can't over commit."
They showed up on time to do the work. His two workmen were very professional and polite and fairly clean. The quality of their work is excellent. It's very easy to categorize painters as a commodity: a dude with a brush and a can of paint. That may be fine for some industrial concrete wall, but for a fine home, it does NOT work! My job had some areas needing a skilled and steady brush hand. His guys know their business and do a great job. They found additional minor items to fix and did not charge extra for this. During and after the work, James inspects everything with the customer and if he notes some issues, he'll get them made right. He noted a few areas of missing caulk during the job completion walk-through with me, and took great pains to get it corrected. His guys do great stucco repair, AND he successfully matched a color for me (through the Dunn Edwards store) to paint a small separate area the prior owner had used poorly-matched paint to cover.
I'm having his group over to tackled the EXTERIOR issues next, and will post a review of that.
