Good experience from start to finish.  We purchased a house that needed a new roof.  We got several quotes and Daniels was the most reasonable by a substantial amount.   (He honored his price 3 months after his quote).  While price was a consideration, we were not looking for the cheapest deal - we wanted a quality roof.  We asked a lot of questions and researched until we felt comfortable.  We had no trouble reaching Daniel - he returned all calls promptly and answered our questions.  He's a very nice guy.
Daniels used the same high quality shingles (Owens Corning) and offered the same warranty as the other companies.  The crew was fast and professional - no damage to plants or structures.  They cleaned up every day before leaving - We are very impressed with how thorough they cleaned at the end - we have only seen a few staples from the old roof - no nails from the new roof yet. 
Daniel came by a couple of days after the job and walked the roof himself  to make sure all looked good before asking for payment.
Should be noted that the shingle delivery man had very positive comments about Daniels Roofing and our neighbor who is a retired contractor said he watched them work and was impressed with the installation.
I was surprised to see negative comments from other reviewers because we have been very happy so far.

disappointing

We had just purchased the house, and the home inspector had suggested that the roof should be re-coated b/c there were cracks in various areas. The real estate agent recommended Daniel Roofing, saying that the owner was a member of his church and, being new in town, we had no other recommendations to go by at that point. The crew came and completed the job in 1.5 days, which seemed reasonable as it is a very large roof: a 3500 square foot house plus a detached casita. Also, it was blisteringly hot, so we have to give the crew credit for being there at all. However, I was concerned at the time because there was little direct supervision of the crew. Also, it is a minor point, but the workers smoked while working and tossed their butts over the side into our yard; I was picking their butts out of the bushes and walkways for weeks afterward. When we went on the roof a few days later, we realized that the quality of the work was pretty questionable. For example, there were empty cigarette lighters tossed into the fresh coating and left there so that if you tried to pick them up, the coating would tear off. I realize now that we should have been right there up on the roof watching what was going on but at the time we were really swamped, what with having just moved in, starting new jobs and schools, etc., and left it to the owner on the presumption that he would provide supervision and quality control. That was a mistake. Over the subsequent year, there were several leaks in the roof. To be fair, the owner had said that his guarantee on leaks was only valid for one year due to the harsh climate of Arizona and the fact that he had no way to know what the quality of the roof was like before he came. OK, we accept that. Unfortunately, when we phoned during the guarantee period to report two leaks and to ask him to repair them, he was not responsive. In particular, my husband phoned repeatedly about one leak over the course of several weeks but never received a return call. Interestingly, I called one day from my office phone and left an intentionally-vague message about wanting roof work done, and received a return call later the same day. My last name is different from my husband's, so it was hard to avoid the interpretation that the owner was avoiding having to honor the guarantee by not calling my spouse back, while responding to calls that seemed to be new business. The owner did come in response to my call -- he could hardly avoid it at that point -- and went up on the roof with us, saw the area that was leaking, including the fact that it did not seem to have actually been re-coated, and promised to send a crew to fix it. No one ever came. The "guarantee" period has since expired and, with reluctance, we have given up hope that it will be honored. I would like to add that if the problem was that the roof condition was just so bad that it could not be adequately fixed with a re-coating, even for one year, then I think the fair thing would have been to tell us straight up. We knew the condition was not great and although it would not have been welcome news, at least we would have had the chance to deal with it at the time.
