Adam from Conway had to remove the old tile very carefully so as not to damage our new cabinets, granite countertops and polished concrete floor. Once he did so, he identified some issues with the electrical wiring that had been done by the general contractor who had abandoned the job after his tile installer ruined the initial tile (see review for DesertKing Carpentry). He advised that we have an electrician look at it before he closed up the walls again. Thank goodness he did so, because we found several illegal and dangerous items.
After the electrician had re-wired as necessary, Adam returned to install the cement board and the new tile. He did a beautiful job with the installation, especially a rather tricky design over the stove, involving different sizes and thicknesses of tile. There was one glitch when he mixed too much of the epoxy grout at once, rendering it unusable before the grouting was completed. That caused a small delay while new grout was shipped in, but we were not charged for the extra grout. Adam and his helper were polite and pleasant, eager to please us.
When we discovered and reported some grout stains in the laundry sink and a glob of grout on a tile, Joel came out promptly to correct those things. Everyone we worked with was cordial and polite, and they were very eager to help us complete this long and frustrating job to end up with a beautiful kitchen. I highly recommend them and will probably use Conway again to remodel a bathroom.
The tear out of our tile went smoothly, so did the templating. There was a one day delay during the install, as the installers were and quot;tied up at another joband quot;. I always wonder why my job isn't THE most important!
After the installers left I noticed a funny blue spot on the island countertop, about 1/4 and quot; long. I also noticed many scratches, and glu marks. They also left without grouting the area between the backslash and the new countertop. I was told this was too wide, and not included.
Of course instead of loving my new $6,000.00 countertops I was in tears. I went to the Caesarstone website, followed the cleaning instructions, and made no headway with the scratches, glue or blue stain!
Finally, a nice man from Conway, Joel, came to our house and did agree with the above complaints. He also said the grouting should have been completed by them initially. Finally after over 2 months things are resolved, but it took a lot of time and persistence from me. They ended up and quot;repairingand quot; our Countertop to get the blue stain out and it is 90% improved.
Conway was the subcontractor on this job for Arizona Kitchens and Designs who were totally useless.
"In response to the 1 day delay on the installation, our installers were at a project where the customer added some work that resulted in an additional day of installation and we could not stop in the middle of the installation. In reference to the glue marks and caulking, Joel came out the day after we received a phone call from the (member name removed) 's and our installers cleaned up both items within a couple of days. The blue spot on the island was a product problem from the Caesarstone quartz manufacturer. The (member name removed)s wanted Caesarstone to replace the slab, but after many phone calls and follow-up, we found out that they do not warranty any product defects larger than a dime. We then repaired the counter ourselves at our own cost to make the (member name removed)'s happy. We followed up on every detail and did everything we could to make the (member name removed)'s a satisfied customer.."
