Outstanding! Daniel was knowledgeable and helpful. Quality product and quality service at a cost as good or better than others from who I got estimates.

It went great. The guys from Choice came in early on the morning scheduled and went nonstop until the job was completed. First class job, first class technicians.

I called on Friday just before they closed, got scheduled for Monday 1-3. (I could have paid for emergency service over the weekend, but the temperature was tolerable.) Daniel Reed (owner/tech) showed 1/2 hour early--yay! Spent quite a bit of time, trying to find the leak but because of the wind, the sniffer couldn't find it. The a/c was 3/4 frozen (we'd been running it even though low on freon). He had to turn on the heat for a bit to thaw it out, then was able to add the needed freon. Daniel patiently explained our options. He suggested in the fall if we wanted to avoid future problems (3rd leak since seller of house installed "builder grade" new a/c in 2012 when we were buying the house), we could do a procedure that costs around $600 where the connectors/hose? are cut at the a/c & at the house/furnace & definitively find the leak, then braise the connections back. We'll see, not liking leaks from the inexpensive a/c put in by previous seller/flipper. Nice and cold again in here!

This was a difficult experience. Initially, it was hard to get adequate information to understand why a heat pump, which we would have preferred, was not appropriate for our house and then to distinguish among the numerous furnace/AC packages we were presented with. After we picked one, the installation took way too long. The contractor kept getting called away to deal with emergencies or other projects in process, and completion took more than six weeks. In the meantime, we lived in a construction zone, with the attendant mess and plaster dust. Although there was lots of discussion with the contractor about how to adequately cool the kitchen and den at the far end of the house, I am still not sure they are adequately cooled. And there was an issue over the optional thermostat, which cost several hundred dollars extra and was installed without any discussion with us as to whether we wanted it or how much it would cost. This matter was resolved, but it never should have arisen.

Did the work while we were out of town. When we came back, it was done and worked great. Repair man noticed something and came back, on his own, to check i t iut.it.

We call them in to do an inspection of the HVAC system on May 15th, 2013 on a home we put an offer on. This was part of our "inspection" period and Choice knew this, meaning work needed to be done in a timely manner. They did return an invoice the next day to get payment with a report, but the report did not contain a quote for costs of repairs, nor a cost per line item breakdown which we needed in order to enter into negotiations for buying the home. We asked them for this on May 17th. We did not hear from them until May 29th, which was WELL past our inspection period, therefore completely useless to us in our home buying negotiations. In addition, they still did not give us a repair quote. They again went silent until June 10th (and by this time we had already signed on the house, without any negotiating power regarding HVAC repairs because we didn't have a costs to give the seller) at which time they called to say we actually just needed to replace the whole AC system! We are entirely upset about this. Had they known that a MONTH ago, we could have included that in our repairs to the seller in buying this home. Choice was well aware we hired them to do an inspection for a home buy, and there is no excuse for their lack of communication and unprofessionalism regarding how this unfolded. Choice withholding knowledge and their utterly poor communication will end up costing us hundreds more now that we are told much too late that we need a new system. We emailed them regarding this outrage, and now they are backtracking and saying, "Oh, we didn't actually mean you have to replace the whole unit" even though we have these EXACT words on the voice message they wrote.
Needless to say, it is now June 21st and they STILL have not given us a quote on the repairs they initially mentioned over a month ago.

Response from Choice Air Conditioning & Heating
"We here at Choice Air conditioning are always sad to hear of someone who is unhappy with our service. We pride ourselves in doing everything we can to provide quality services and accommodate our client's needs. However we understand that at times things happen and not every customer we meet will be completely satisfied. Our efforts both directly with [member name removed] and in third party negotiations, it seems, have been unsuccessful and make it apparent that he is looking for a way to reduce the cost of his repairs more so than reach a reasonable resolution. We gave [member name removed] our recommendations promptly. In explaining the obvious problems with his installation, and researching the details on why it was an unpermitted installation, it should have been apparent to [member name removed], at that time, further negotiations with his seller would have been appropriate. At no time during this process did he notify us of any, time constraints, nor did he notify us of his urgent need/deadline. [Member name removed] knew full well that his unit had serious issues and was in need of many repairs and he still chose to close on his house anyway. We have explained to [member name removed] that we feel giving him a 25% discount, is more than fair compensation for any misunderstanding. We regret that our offer is unacceptable to him, but we can not do anymore. We have tried our best to accommodate [member name removed] and never received any negative feed back until after he had closed on the house. Sometimes the prudent action for us to take is to discontinue our services with a client to avoid future difficulty, thus we are rescinding our offer to do the work at the discounted rate and we decline to do any further business with them. We are happy to refer them to someone else upon request. Thank you"

I am on an annual contract with this company and pay about $25 monthly. They come out twice a year to do repairs and maintenance. We just closed out our first year's contract with this firm. So far, they are really prompt and professional; I have been satisfied so far with what they have done. I found out about them from a friend who thought they were good. Their pricing is pretty good.

WE THOUGHT THAT THIS COMPANY WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL WHEN THEY CAME TO OUR HOUSE. THEY DID VERY GOOD WORK, AND WE HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE NEW A/C AT ALL.
