Chas Roberts was the sub-contractor for Insight Homes, Inc. from whom we purchased our home. They serviced our Goodman HVA system for 2 years as per contract. They merely band-aided anything that went wrong regarding our the unit being low on freon. The first call when we were "low" on freon turned out to be a leak in the line set. Had they performed a thorough testing of the system before our moving in, rather than merely installing, turning it on and off they would've found the problem. The 1 1/2 ton unit as well as the 3.5 ton unit never cooled properly. We couldn't even sleep in the master bdrm where the small unit was suppossed to cool for 3 1/2 years. This spring 4/16/2017 we were diagnosed with not one but two evaporator coil leaks and an outside line set leak. These units were installed by Chas Roberts at the home builder's (Mike Jones) request to save money. Faced with this dilemma we decided not to repair but to completely replace everything, furnace, coils, condensers---everything! Our A/C had never cooled properly and we just thought that was what Arizona A/C was like. We had Temperature Control rip out and replace both hvac units and found out by isolating the duct system that we had 68% leakage in the 1 1/2 ton unit! We had 13.5% leakage for the 3.5 ton unit. After replacement and retesting, we now have only 12% leakage (acceptable) in the small unit and 9.35% in the large unit. We finally know what A/C is supposed to feel like. Based on the horribly incompetent installation job we will never recommend Chas Roberts. The technicians came out promptly, they were courteous, but the Installation crew was extremely incompetent. And Chas Roberts blamed the home builder, Mike Jones of Insight Homes, Inc, Mike Jones then blamed Chas Roberts, and Goodman blamed both the installers and the home builder. No one seems to want to take responsibility, a triage of dysfunctional companies!

They were fine. They did a great job. Responsiveness was very good. They came when they said they were going to. I would use them again, sure.

They sent a guy out that didn't know what he was doing to be real honest. He kind of messed things up. They sent different guy out and he corrected it and made it right. They did make the work right but the first guy that came out was pretty clueless. They did fix it and they didn't charge me any extra but they were embarrassed because that guy just didn't know what he was doing. I don't know if he was a new guy or what the deal was with him or even if he still works there. I sort of doubt that he does.

This company seems to have very few truly great technicians. Most of the techs we met seemed mediocre at best, and nearly each one had a different possibility for the source of the problems. No one within the company seems to communicate with each other when dealing with one client. Basically "the right hand doesn't seem to know what the left hand is doing". When speaking to area residents about our troubles we heard many unsettling stories about this company. In our one month of AC trials, they replaced one compressor, then the evaporator, then another compressor then finally the entire system. Over this time, we met and worked with many different techs. We spoke with many different personnel in the main office; they were always "stand-offish" and difficult to communicate with. I will only deal with this company as long as the warranties and guarantees dictate.

Chas Roberts has been to our residence now four times.
The first time they had to fill with refrigerant as it kept saying it was "low". They found a leak in a brand new unit and filled it up.
The second time we called them out because it was still not cooling down the house, they found it was still leaking and changed out one part of the coil, refilled it. Two days later, it was still not cooling the house down
The third time they came out they replaced the entire coil, refilled the refrigerant and it was good for another two days
By the fourth time, we decided to call our own A/C person to evaluate it. They found: "Found the system low on freon. Found a Schrader core leaking on the condensing unit outside and also found the compression fitting on the high side line leaking. Repaired both leaks. System still needs to be recharged, and needs the cap put back over the Schrader that was removed..
So by this time the independent person had found they Chas Roberts didn't replace a cap for the freon and it was still leaking. They came back out a fourth time to try to fix it and the saga continues.
I will update here soon to let you know how it ends. Again, remember this is a brand new unit at a brand new house.

This is based solely on labor price. I was just charged $613 for 1 hour and 17 mins of work....this is almost $500/hour! I had to use them for the warranty on the parts....will never use them again.

They had to come back three times to repair an installation problem on a new home. If the work had been done correctly in the first place it would not be a problem.

To sum up an overall awful experience, Chas Roberts made all the mistakes in the book. I am a woman and they treated me like I didn't have a brain in my head (for the ones that could speak English). I always got a different story/reason from each technician for the same problem. I was consistently quoted wrong prices for parts, had appointments cancelled without a phone call and each technician (a different one every time) didn't know what was going on. I do NOT recommend this company for sales or service. Shame on you, Chas Roberts!!

The inspection went very well. Chas. Roberts employee was very neat, thorough and knew what he was doing! We signed up for their annual service plan based on his professionalism.
During the visit we asked for a sales rep out to quote on additional services. The sames representative came out, and then never got back to us with a quote. This part of the transaction takes the responsiveness down one notch.

We have a contract with them. We pay approximately $150 a year for two calls. Their prices are probably average. They are very reliable. They show up on time and they do a good job. We live in a large housing development that is still being developed and they have installed all the heating and air conditioning systems in the houses. The service is very good. They are helpful in making suggestions when we ask questions. We will continue to use them.

The technician looked at the ceiling and first told me the leak was my fault because I was using the wrong filters. This was before he ever went up in the attic. I told him I used the filters the previous technician from Chas Roberts recommended. Then he went into the attic. He then told me that the leak was caused by how dirty the condensation pan was, that it caused the drain to plug and then caused water to leak all over. I then told him that I had preventive maintenance just several months before and why wasn't it cleaned? He told me that cleaning the pan is not part of the service. He was going to charge me $ 140.00 to clean the pan. He also told me that the ceiling damage was my problem.I then called the office and spoke with a supervisor, who sent out someone else . The technician "cleaned" the pan and didn't charge me. The supervisor told me that since I had the maintenance he would take care of the ceiling damage, but I was then told that I needed to replace the condensation pan, because it was bent "due to my house settling" ( my house never settled in the attic, I have not one crack anywhere). and that also a shut off valve was recommended. That would cost about $480. I never received any paperwork on anything that occurred after the initial maintenance.I called to speak with another supervisor about the "house settling " and asking for something in writing. I got another call from another supervisor who danced around the house settling and told me that a full drain was now code . He had an email sent to me which just stated the parts and price. I called again, left messages, sent emails and did not hear anything back . I wanted to discuss why I needed a new pan, I don''t need to conform to code that wasn't in effect when my house was built. I understood why a shut off valve would be a good thing to have.. The ceiling was repaired to my satisfaction.
I called another company ( one recommended in Angie's List) I was told that the drain pan in my attic was never installed correctly and was shoved under the furnace and was tilted downward under the condensation drain. The drain itself was loose. The pan was still dirty. The coil had not been cleaned. The technician also told me that the ductwork from the furnace was not all connected. He spent over an hour and a half fixing those items. He did install a shut off valve. The pan did not need to be replaced.
He then went outside to check the AC unit. He found that we had the wrong capacitor -- it was a 50 and needed to be an 80. We needed 6 pounds of freon. He looked at the paperwork the Chas Roberts technician left us in February. He said the pressure measurements and other measurements indicated we had problems and the technician didn't address the issues. He said that a supervisor should have picked that up. All his repairs were less than the cost of the drain pan and shut off valve Chas Roberts wanted to install.
BEWARE OF CHAS ROBERTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I WAS SATISFIED WITH THE QUALITY OF WORK. IT TOOK THEM A WHILE TO FIND THE PROBLEM, BUT THEY DID. THEY WERE VERY THOROUGH, AND CLEANED UP THE WATER MESS AFTERWARDS.
