Ability Realty has been unable to give us any reason why they have allowed us to go three years without fixing an issue that was clearly dangerous to our family and that they were the sole cause of. We asked multiple times for something to be looked at and were completely ignored. The owners never even knew of our request. The owners never said no, only David at ability did. Carpet would last more than 3yrs if it were put in correctly to begin with and my family wasn't stepping on carpet tacks. Unfortunately, it wasn't put in according to Carpet Installation Standards and is low, apartment grade carpet, not high quality carpet that would have a much longer life. All that we requested from Ability is that we have a discussion about replacing the carpet and how we might work together to make that happen. We offered to pay for part of the cost. Instead the response we got was a direct "No, and the issue about the carpet is over!" I doubt the owners are aware of any of this. We provided all the necessary proof and official documentation to them that our carpet only lasts 3-5yrs, but without providing absolutely any documentation or proof they are standing by their statement that it lasts 7-10 yrs. I'm not even positive what their argument is if they can't prove what they are saying. Ability probably hasn't had to replace carpet in less than 5 yrs before because they were not dealing with poor installation and super thin carpet. This is a unique situation that they are not giving that kind of attention to. I'm sure those tenants didn't have carpet tacks piercing their feet. They need to take responsibility for putting cheap products in their homes. I've been in many homes where you can feel the carpet tacks with your feet but this is completely excessive. The tacks are simply longer than the carpet and even the carpet installer admitted that the tack strips were not the appropriate size for a carpet that was so thin. He also stated that the carpet should look at being replaced after 3 years. In fact, I never even thought about it until the carpet guy mentioned it had been 3 yrs. Its quite obvious they are trying to get away with doing only the bare minimum of their obligation to us and the owners. I truly believe reviews are important to expose companies when they are trying to take advantage of their customers. I only wish we had known what kind of service we would've been getting when we moved in. I feel sorry for the home owners who are completely getting taken by this company and are unaware of Ability Realty's incompetence.
