Pavers and Hardscaping Service
$13,500
The installation went fairly quickly. As the workers were installing the pavers I noticed places where they were uneven. I expressed my concerns to the crew and was told they would fix the problems once they completed the border. When the driveway was about 75% completed, Ed fired the crew because they were not using the wet saw properly. A new crew came and finished up the work. When I performed a final inspection with Ed, I pointed out the following: Uneven blocks, several places where the border was not up to the quality I had seen in other paver driveways, mortar residue in the street in front of my house and wet saw debris on many of the pavers (drip marks created when they spilled wet saw water on the pavers). His comment was paver driveways are supposed to look rustic and old world. He told me someone would clean up the mortar residue and he said the wet saw debris would wash off after a few good rains. Two months and several rains later, the wet saw debris was not coming off. I called Ed and he told me to fax his office a letter indicating the need for the removal of the spots. A fax was sent that day (2/13) and after several weeks of no contact, I called Ed and he indicated he was waiting for a crew to have some work and he would have it done at that time. On 4/7 I called again and was told to mark the spots with tape and they would be removed by the end of the week. On the afternoon of 4/10 a worker showed up and said he could not do the work and would come back the following Monday to remove the spots. On Monday, 4/13 no one showed up so I called Ed. He became angry and told me he had lost money on the job. On 4/17 workers showed up and used a pressure washer and muratic acid to clean the spots. Some were removed but and some were still apparent. During the process of cleaning the spots the pressure washer leaked oil on 7 pavers. Some of the pavers sunk as a result of sand being washed away and needed to be repositioned. On 4/20 I called Ed and told him about the oil leaks and the existence of mortar spots that had not come off. Once again he became angry and told me how he lost money on this job. He told me he would have someone come out and clean the oil spots. Since I have limited space to chronicle this experience I will briefly notate the remaining phone calls. No one ever showed up to clean the oil spots. 5/22 - Called and left msg for callback. 5/25 - Ed called and provided new phone number. 5/29 - Called - Ed told me he looked at the driveway and there were only 5 pavers that had oil on them. He said someone would come out the next day (Saturday). 6/5 - Called - told me someone would come out Saturday. 6/12 - Called - left message asking for pavers to be left so I could fix it myself. No response and no pavers were ever delivered.
