This really was a poor service. Not only were the jobs not done, but, provider had a very poor attitude. He was rude, ill-mannered, and condescending. A very unprofessional representation. Subsequently, we called another computer repair professional. He came over, un-did what the first guy did, restored and scanned for virus. He found over 200 viruses...the day after we got it back from Blue Chip!!!! He was prompt, professional, and courteous. He is now on our speed dial. Shame on Blue Chip. Not only will I never use their service, I will tell every person I know my story.
Response from BLUECHIP COMPUTERS
"The client brought the unit into the office. We tested the unit and found that the system was seriously infected. I removed all infections that I found, but windows was damaged beyond repair and had to be reloaded. The unit was running Windows 8 when the client brought it in, but the tag on the side was for Windows 7. I spoke with the client and explained the situation. She did not have a copy of Windows 8, and stated she preferred Windows 7 anyway, windows 8 was installed by someone else. Therefore, legally we had to reload with the version licensed on the machine. We further explained that we could transfer her data, but could not transfer programs and software due to copyright laws. She agreed to the repair. When we were finished, she picked up the unit and took it home. She then called saying that her Word was not there, and she could not find her programs. I explained to her again that we cannot install those programs without her providing a license first. A couple of hours later, her roommate called us, and she and I went over everything again. She then asked that we come out and configure the unit back to her preferences. I explained to her that I could do that, but there would be additional costs for going onsite, of which she found unacceptable and ended the conversation by stating she would give us a bad review on Angie’s List. I told her I was sorry she felt that way, and she hung up."

The video board on my 5 year old PC died.
I expected I would need a new board but did not have time to shop for one
and install it myself.
I searched Angie's List for a nearby computer repair shop with a good rating
(the last shop I had used was no longer in business)
I took my PC in and told them the problem and said if it needed a new board to
try to replace it with an inexpensive board or a used one
because I intended buying a new PC soon and didn't want to buy a new
expensive board.
They called me the next day and said that since my PC actually included
a video chip on the main board, I would not need a replacement board
but they could just activate the on-board video.
I was also aware that my operating system (Windows-XP)
had been damaged in the past by a virus infection
and was not working as well as it should.
They checked it out and removed some problems.
It now works fine and I didn't need to buy a new board.
If I had been a computer hardware person I probably could have
done this myself, but I am a software person and was not aware that
my PC had on-board video that I could have activated.
So I am quite satisfied with the speedy result and the cost ($75)
I got my PC back and running well again in just 1 day.
I would definitely use them again if I had any more hardware problems

They called me back the next day, with the computer completely fixed. It was not an easy fix; they said it was difficult. But they came through and it appears no programs or data was lost.

BlueChip is tucked away in an unassuming, anonymous strip mall -- but its techs are first rate. In fact, they are my go-to guys for all things computer related. Turnaround time is about three days, and they do a good job of making computer repair and security issues understandable. By keeping my security software up to date, I've caught some malware on my own -- which saved me an extra trip to the shop. Yay!

I called them because I had a sound card that needed to be installed in
my PC. The card was not new and I did not have the setup disc.
Everything necessary is available online. The physical install went
fine, but he did not install the controller that allows the user to
control the device.
On a previous visit he addressed printer and network issues sucessfully.
I feel the tech lacks the professional experience to do more than simple repairs.

My computer started shutting down unexpectedly and freezing up. Bluechip computers diagnosed it and replaced the power supply. Their hourly rate is very reasonable.

My old computer's hard drive died, and I was experiencing graphics problems with the integrated graphics on the new computer. I though my old computer had an actual graphics card in it, and wanted it switched over to the computer I'm currently using. I took both computers into their shop and asked them to switch the graphics card to the one I'm currently using. They later called to inform me that the old computer also had an integrated graphics chip. I asked them to recycle the old computer since I could no longer use it with a dead hard drive. They then sold me an actual graphics card and installed it in the computer I'm currently using.
I took the computers in around 11am and they finished around 2:30-3pm that same day.

Frank also checked to make sure the fans were working properly and that the computer wasn't overheating. I was happy with his work.

Great experience overall. I had to leave my laptop there for evaluation, and when they knew what the problem was they followed up with a phone call to me, and a voice message. When I was not able to get back to them that day, they called again the next morning. That kind of timely feedback is often hard to come by these days.

THEY WERE VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE. THEY KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THEY WERE DOING. THE QUALITY OF THE WORK WAS WONDERFUL. THEY RESPONDED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY TO OUR CALL. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY.
