I contacted Angie's because I had a pocket door that needed to be replaced. I was then contacted by BAHR ( Raymond J Doherty). I checked his customer ratings on Angie, and he had a 5-star rating at that time with great feedback from customers. He came out & suggested a barn door replacement because a new pocket door would be more complicated & cost more. I researched a barn door from Home Depot, showed it to him & he said it would work, so I ordered it. He requested a payment of ½ plus materials. This amounted to $430 ($184 material, knotty alder trim, etc). When the door arrived, he polyurethaned and the trim. He also demolished the door and the trim around the outside & the other side, which is our bathroom. When he removed all the pieces that came with the door, he said a piece to hang the door was missing. We called the company they agreed to send it. At this point in time, we were leaving for 5 months and would not return till October. He said he would complete the installation when we returned. When we returned mid Oct I contacted him.. He returned several days later and said he had the missing piece & we set a date for him to install the door. When he came, he said he did not cut one of the trim pieces to the right length, so he would take it home and recut it. When he returned several days later, he told me there was another missing piece. I said we can order it. He said it would take too long. He could get another piece of alder to replace the (new) missing piece & it would look even better. He then returned Mon Nov 3rd. Before he started to screw the new alder piece, he said he HOPED he could find the studs in the wall to attach it to! Now, shouldn't he have checked this before telling me a barn door would work? I ordered and paid for it. He proceeded to attach the alder to the wall. Later, I returned, and the alder piece was gone. He said that would not work. The barn door was attached to 1 of the 3 pieces that were needed to hang the door properly. The lower part of the door is just banging against the wall when you try to move it. It does not work! At this point, he said he is done. He is finished with this; it is not worth the money! He said he quit & started gathering up his tools! I was stunned, absolutely speechless! I have had various remodeling projects, bathrooms, and kitchens. And never had a contractor walk off the job. When I was able to speak, I asked him to please at least finish putting up the last 3 pieces of trim in the bathroom, where just wallboard is exposed. He refused. He got in his truck, peeled out of my driveway, throwing stones & dirt in the air. He did not leave the alder trim to complete the job, which I paid for. He left all the construction debris in my garage, including a large pallet that the door came with. I can't even lift it, much less get rid of it. I noticed one of the pieces of tile does not line up with my tile. This was a sloppy, unprofessional job without much planning going into it. I have used Angie's in the past and never had an experience like this. I then got back on Angie's and reviewed his rating & customer experiences. There was a new one added in August by Joycelyn M. What that poor woman went through with him. If I had seen this, I never would have let him in my door. It seems this was never resolved, or she would not have posted it. My husband and I are seniors this has caused us unbelievable stress. It has been a disaster! So I guess I am stuck having to find a competent content contractor to clean up his mess.

Provider was contacted to view the job and give an estimate, he estimated the work will cost $3500, estimates will be uploaded. Two days after provider contacted me and said there is more work to be done and it will cost another $1800 to finish but I have to buy the tiles. He offered 10% discount because I was a senior citizen, so the overall work will be $4600. Provider wanted 50% to start and the remainder at completion. I asked how long this would take and he stated three weeks, I was a bit busy dealing with my ailing husband so I was glad he can get this done without worrying over something else. I Zelle provider $900 on 02/18 and $1890 on 02/20 to start the project. On 03/15 provider contacted me stating he was running out of materials and needed more money to finish the job by the end of the week. I Zelle him $1000 I asked for pictures of the work and he said he would get some and send it. I have not received any pictures from him to this date so I have no idea what has been done. I didn’t hear form him after he got the money, I called and he text me saying he has a tube in his throat right now and in the hospital because he had a heart attack. I sympathized with him and was praying for his speedy recovery, I kept in touch with him often to see the progress and to know when he would get back to work. He promised he would get it all done as soon as he was able to work. He got out of the hospital, went to Rehab, said he had another infection and had another surgery. He said he would have his guys go and work on the condo but then stated they did not do anything. He texted me 06/27 saying he hope to get the condo finish by the end of next week. I received another text 07:03 stating he cannot finish it because he need to hire a plumber although he told me he will do all the plumbing work also. He then go on in the text stating he needs $1500 to finished the work by the end of next week. The balance on the job was $890 so now he is wanting more money and I have no proof if he did any work at the condo. He had the key in his possession and I received a high electrical bill in April and May so I ask a friend to go over and have a look at the work. My friend told me it seems like someone is living in the condo, the air-condition was on and there was a bed in the master room with sheets on it. I called the Provider and ask him if he gave anyone the key code and he said no. I told him I would repot this to the police. Water that the provider took the key with him without my permission, I had to ask him to please drop the key over to the house so my friend can get me some pictures. He put the key under the mat and took his lock box away. I will send the pictures I got from her, she was there to show him the job and she said he only demolished the bathroom floor upstairs.

I would definitely recommend this company (and have) to anyone.!Went above and beyond! FAST, kind, and knowledgeable! I would give 10 stars if I could!

What an awesome person and handyman! He mounted two televisions and a soundbar for $200, he also didn’t just mount one of the tvs with an incorrect mount I got, he advised me it wouldn’t work because I only have one stud and only charged for the work he did and quickly came back the same week. Both TVs mounted well along with the soundbar. For sure would hire again!

Fantastic the gentleman that came to install. The TV was a delight to have around knew exactly what he was doing. Had the television mounted on the wall in no time he’ll be getting a lot of work from me in the future.

It was a rough job,with horrible instructions and pieces that did not fit together properly. He did an outstanding job dealing with a terrible situation.
