Our driveway had been finished many years ago with pea gravel, which over time migrated to the bottom of the driveway, leaving bare patches which eventually became rutted and rocky.  We weren't sure what to do, so contacted several excavators to get estimates and advice.  Although our driveway is large, all other companies we contacted considered this too small a job and either didn't call us back, or didn't follow up with promised contact.  
    George was not only enthusiastic, but also very informative and helpful.  He went beyond just fixing the ruts and throwing down some new gravel.  He advised us on the best type of gravel for this situation, helped us find it, and got us a good price.  He also first stabilized our driveway by laying down a layer of aggregated base and taking the time to smooth it out.  When he brought the gravel, he also very considerately placed it in small piles around the driveway so it would be easier for the workers we were going to hire to spread it around.  (It is NOT EASY to spread 29 tons of gravel!)  When we realized we hadn't ordered enough gravel (our fault; we hadn't measured accurately), he brought us more at the same price, even though it was a really small load.  All in all, we used 32 tons of gravel, and have the most beautiful driveway on our block!  We feel very lucky that we called George's company and are hoping we have the opportunity to work with him again!

I really cannot say enough about the integrity and worksmanship of George Bartholomew and his associate Glenn Gould. They were very responsive, efficient and kept us informed about what they were doing throughout the project. Their pricing was very competitive and I appreciated the fact that they always showed up on schedule. We have already recommended Advanced Excavating to several friends.
