Like others have indicated, this company underbids to get the job, then contracts out the move to third parties (in violation of their marketing, which claims they don't contract out). When the third party shows up, they redo the estimate which comes in significantly higher (65% higher in my case). Since you've already paid a deposit and it's not easy to change moving dates, you're basically locked in. They also refuse to honor contractual rates for compensating the damage their movers caused to your items, vastly underpaying any claimed amount which you have thoroughly documented. I used this moving company in August 2023, and would warn anyone else to beware of them and seek other reputable companies. Check their horrendous BBB reviews as well.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE CROOKS. We hired this company for a move, we then canceled within the allowed time for a refunds of our deposit less 20%. We were suppose to receive the refund in our bank on November 28. This never happened and every time I call I get the same BS that they don’t know when it will be refunded.

It could not have gone worse. They underbid, over-charged and lied. The movers tried extort cash, threatened to leave my belongings on the street in the dark if I did not sign a contract over the phone. I signed three versions of the same agreement to fit their financial narrative to cover up theft. They promised 7-10 business days, but the contract you sign is for 30 BUSINESS days. When you call in and they have no updates and don't know which state your belongings are in. They are rude and will scream at you, leave you on hold for long periods of time, and repeat scripts rather than addressing your issue. Before delivering my stuff, they tried to charge an extra $700 to bring it from the pallet to my door or would have me rent a UHaul and physically move my stuff from their truck to my apt. Again, none of this was discussed, agreed upon, or necessary. I took the Uhaul route. They had me cancel it two days later, seemingly because it was another way to get $700 out of me. It was a complete disaster. I should have just moved myself. I will never make this mistake again - and you shouldn't either. Please just read for yourself -> [*** Link removed ***]

Our household goods were picked up late at night by a company they brokered to and I have no idea where our stuff is or where it will be delivered. They trap you into a contract by giving you a low price, taking a deposit of $1400, then few days before the your moving day contact you for "adjustments " , they then raise the price on you, then when they arrive they raise the price again but also tell you that the price could be more depending on the situation when arriving. They raised our price 48% higher than when they showed up to do the move and couldn't guarantee it wouldn't go higher. We talked to the owner and tried to get a set out the door price. They wouldn't agree or negotiate so we sent them home on the day of the move. They wouldn't give us any money back when we called and tried to recover the "second" deposit. Put this company out of business people. They will get you too. We lost so much money hiring these crooks on top of having to figure out the move on the day of the move.

"The most disappointing company US Interstate and Rail, they pickedup my things on 6/27/2023, and have failed to make the delivery. As of today 10/02/2023, my belongings remain in their possession for a staggering four months. Engaging with their supervisors has proven futile, as each one provides conflicting information. They've given excuses like 'the driver has been assigned,' 'it's on route,' and 'we are going to load.' It's a bewildering situation. I urge caution when dealing with US Interstate and Rail.' This company is retaining my belongings against my wishes and has even denied my request for self-pickup."

This relocation was easy and cheap compared to others I've had with other organizations. All members of the crew worked very hard and were very careful with our possessions. An intricate glass table that cost a pretty penny was disassembled and put back together without breaking a sweat.

This is the Result of Hiring this Company. I booked a move with US Interstate & Rail, scheduled for August 2023. After reviewing and itemizing my belongings with Sales Team, they gave me an estimate. Of which I paid half at that time , through email with the guidance of one of your employees by phone . I was not given time to read the contract as it was very fast electronic signature, sign, sign initial, initial, etc. submit! I was then emailed a Printer Friendly "Understanding of your Estimate". There are many discrepancies and flat out lies in this document. As follows: 1. Professional Door to Door Service was not provided by this company, they call people who are not professional through a central dispatch system. Further, the people they send out are not movers at all! They are unskilled laborers, who are very rude, throw your items around in a careless manor and walk off the job before they are finished while laughing at the customer. 2. Expert advice and guidance was not provided, there was only one follow up email made by the scheduling department to revise the estimate. The amount of the job was raised and an additional deposit was collected in the same manner as before, via email with someone coaching me and no time to read what I was signing. At this juncture, I had added boxes and patio furniture. It wasn't until after I signed and was sent the new Biding Moving Estimate . I proceeded in good faith, as I still believed that they were an honest company and would send a regular moving truck, with US Interstate and Rail on the side. They came with a Enterprise Rental Truck and the driver had his car, NO MOVING VAN! 3. I did not receive an itemized inventory at the pick up 4. The driver at the pickup REFUSED to pick up all of my belongings. 5. I was offered 6 wardrobe boxes and 25 extra boxes, FREE at the time of booking, this was a lie, they refused to offer packaging! 6. I had 2 TV's, the driver refused to take the small TV. 7. Page 2 Item 4 of your contract and Item 5 From FMCSA Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration states "Once your mover loads your shipment, your mover's failure to execute a new binding estimate or to agree with you to treat the original estimate as a non-binding estimate signifies it has reaffirmed the original binding estimate. Your mover may not collect more than the amount of the original binding estimate" US Interstate & Rail breached their own Contract and are in Violation of Federal Regulations. The driver was on the phone with someone, he told me that the bill was going to be DOUBLE and that I could no longer get my 2 deposits refunded. He told me that If I didn't pay, he would not take our belongings. I am a senior and my husband is a disabled senior, we were contractually obligated to move and leave our home. We were being situationally forced to pay double! The driver promised to take ALL OF OUR BELONGINGS if we signed, I said "OK", so he began rapidly and with no care, grabbing our things and put them on the truck. I HAD NOT RECEVIED THE REVISED ESTIMATE AT THAT POINT !! The operator sent an email and called several hours into the move, most of the items were loaded. The driver told me not tell the operator collecting the money they were loading!! IN MY VIEW WE WERE UNDER EXTREME DURESS and COERCION! THERE WAS NO MUTUAL ASSENT AND IT FELT LIKE ELDER ABUSE! ; to sign a contract I could not even see from my phone to keep my belongings that they already had on the truck! Then things got even worse. After the revised bid arrived several hours later, The driver started to refuse to load certain items!! AFTER PROMISING TO LOAD EVERYTHING, HE SAID IT WOULD ALL FIT ON THE TRUCK, HE LIED!! He refused to take items on the original bid,. He refused to take many of the boxes, he refused to take the garage shelves. He then said "I am not going to take this 4 man boxed tent, can I, have it?" He just grabbed the tent and put it in his car, he stole it!! He was refusing to take my coats that were in the coat closet, I begged him, I need the coats! He told me "If you give me $100.00 cash, I will take the coats". EXTORTION! The workers at the drop off were just as bad, walking off the job and my husband was unloading the truck! There have been damaged and broken items in every box, many things are missing, it feels like we have been through a natural disaster! MY HUSBAND AND I ARE GRIEVING THE LOSS OF IRREPLACEABLE FAMILY PHOTOS AND COLLECTABLES SPANNING OUR LIFETIME!! WE HAVE SENT SEVERAL LETTERS TO US INTERSTATE & RAIL DESCRIBING THE EVENTS AND LOSSES, IN DETAIL, REQUESTING REIMBURSEMENT AND THEY HAVE REFUSED TO HELP WITH COMPENSATION OR A INSURANCE CLAIM. I AM WRITING THIS TO WARN INNOCENT PEOPLE, NEVER USE THIS COMPANY!! 56 COMPLAINTS WITH THE BBB IN 2023! THEY DID NOT RESOLVE ONE CUSTOMERS COMPLAINT!

We were doing a two room move (not even a living room, just two rooms) from DC to Chicago. They quoted us $1,500. They explained that our stuff would be insured at $10,000 per room, so $20,000 total. They also said that they would target a delivery date of our items of the Wednesday after pickup, with Thursday as a backup date. This was a huge selling point for us since we were considering going with a POD service but they only offered a 10-day delivery window. They said the only reason for why our quote may go up is if we had more stuff than was listed in our inventory. The saleswoman also explained that payment would be taken in three parts, 1/3 deposit (paid only by ACH), 1/3 at pickup (multiple payment methods accepted), and 1/3 at delivery (cash or money order only). I asked why the ACH and cash requirements and she explained to me that in the past they had had experiences where people had called their credit card companies to cancel the payments. At first, I thought that there were some scumbags out there who were trying to get a free service, but in hindsight, if this was something that the company had faced repeatedly that they had to change their policy, it means that THEY probably were the problem. That THEY probably were the ones pulling a fast one, otherwise how would have their previous customers been able to get their money back? It was because they probably had legitimate claims against this company. At pickup, our inventory had not changed and box/cubic feet wise we were only occupying 2/3 of our remaining space on the truck. However, the drivers said that we needed to modify our purchased space by double, and for this they were going to charge us about TRIPLE our initial quote. Under duress, they convinced my partner sign a new contract for the new amount, and in this new contract they also sneaked in that the delivery spread would be SIX WEEKS instead of the two days that were initially discussed and they also lowered our insured amount to just $3,000. If you look at their other one-star reviews you’ll see that they have a history of lowballing initial quotes only to charge an arm and a leg later. You’ll also see that they deliver items towards the latter half of the delivery spread. I feel scammed and purposefully misled by them. If you try calling them, you’ll get stonewalled by their customer service workers. I honestly believe AI bots are more capable of empathy than they are. This has been one of the most stressful periods of my life. Imagine how you would feel if you ended up paying three times what a company quoted you when you followed all their conditions, and then to live in an empty house without a certain date as to when your belongings would arrive. I only wish this experience on my worst enemies. I can’t believe the government allows companies like this one to operate.

• They arrived at my house to film my items and I was told I would have to pay an extra $1700 beyond the price I was given by Emerald Van Lines. When I spoke to their Customer Service, I asked if there was anything I could do and was told “no, this was it.” • The packers were efficient and had the truck loaded in three hours. This was the only positive experience. • I had 30 days of free storage in my contract. In early mid-July, I began trying to contact them to arrange an additional month of storage. o Stacy, the Storage Customer Service representative was unclear in her communication, inconsistent with her responses, and rude on the phone. o I had to get Emerald Van Lines involved to try to get a response from USI&R. They were able to follow-up and respond to these. Thank you Tatyana! • When my items were finally in storage for an additional month, I called them on 8/18 to determine where my items were.  I understand and it is clearly stated in their contract that they have 30 days to deliver it from my first available delivery date; however, see the experience below. o On 8/18 I spoke with Michelle who said my items were going to be delivered in 3-7 days from the date of departure, which was 8/17.  I asked to speak to a Supervisor and she said she was the Supervisor. o On 8/23 I spoke with Jen who said my items were still near my state of origin and they would be delivered in 7-10 days from the date of departure.  I asked to speak to a Supervisor and she said she was the Supervisor.  I asked to speak to whomever she reports to and Stacy came on the phone after a 15-minute hold. • This is the same Stacey from storage. She said that the items would be delivered within 30 business days but could be delivered on a Saturday or a Sunday. • I explained my frustration of having spoken to 3 different people and gotten 3 different timelines of deliver.  I called Emerald Movers and asked for their assistance in getting a timeline so I could plan for my family’s needs in an empty house. I’m fine with the 30 days of delivery, but I needed to make plans for my toddler’s sleeping arrangements. No response from Emerald.  Cindy called me on 8/23 at 4 PM and explained that she worked in dispatch and she would be in contact from me from this point forward to help share the arrival information. • After we hung up, she texted me and asked for the delivery address. This was concerning because it had been shared with the company a month prior.  Drew called me at 6 PM on 8/23 and said that I would need to pay an additional $2000 for a box shuttle because the “tractor trailer couldn’t drive into or out of my neighborhood.” Or, I would have to rent a U-Haul type of vehicle in order move my items, but once the items were loaded in my U-Haul, they were no longer liable. I said that the tractor trailer could get in and out of the neighborhood and Drew said he would talk to the driver and call me back. No return call that night.  I called Drew on 8/24 @ 7:30 PM asking for an update. • My HOA was able to provide evidence that tractor trailers can access the neighborhood and exit the neighborhood without any issues. I shared this information with Drew on 8/24 and he said he would call me back after he spoke to the driver. • I sent videos and pictures of the roads and intersection where our house is on 8/24 per their request. No phone call back.  I called Drew on 8/25 @ 12:45 asking for an update and he said he would call John, who was with the driver and then he would call me back.  Drew called me back at 12:50 on 8/25 stating that they “had found a box shuttle and will deliver for free. They anticipate my items arriving on 8/27.”  I called Drew on 8/26 @ 4:05 PM asking for an update because I had not heard from the driver. He called me back at 4:09 saying the “driver is delayed because he couldn’t get the whole load [prior to mine] unloaded and will arrive on 8/28.”  The driver called me on 8/27 confirming the arrival between 8-9 AM on 8/28. • Items were not reassembled including treadmill, Peloton, bed frames, and The number of items that were damaged in this move was obscene. There were multiple broken dishes, bins, and boxes. Two bins arrived at my house with no lid on them. Many of the bins had footprints on the lid where they had been stepped on and walked across. Seven of the bins, made of hard, durable plastic, were badly broken and missing complete pieces. The furniture is filthy and needs to be professionally cleaned. The dining room table and coffee table have deep scratched in them that were not there prior to the move. The dining buffet has two drawers that are completely broken. Pictured below are just some of the broken items, broken bins, scratched tables, and scratches on the new hardwood floors in the house. Finally, no one from either company has followed up to learn how the move went, how my experience with their companies was, or if I had any questions or concerns. I have 19 photos to prove the damage.

Worst company!! First we agreed on one price and I signed a paper but later at the time of delivery they called me and asked for $700 that they need to use uhaul, blah blah! They agreed to waive $700 if I would give them a good review and actually told me to give them a good review before the delivery. They dont mention about the detail pricing in the beginning while talking to them and will quote really low and start charging more later on. Second, they broke my washer dryer and was not in a working condition. Most of the other boxes were torn too. Basically this company try to find a loop-hole in the contract and try to suck your money. They don't take care of your items because they keep moving your items to different truck in many locations. Don’t fall in their trap just because they quote you low in the beginning because they will charge you more later on. I think this company definitely try to scam people .

3 days before my move and I have received a letter that states this: "Guaranteed pickup and delivery dates are an optional service available for purchase. Pickup and delivery dates are not guaranteed unless the optional Premium Guaranteed Service (P.G.S.) is purchased. In compliance with 49 CFR Section 375.505(b)(6) the non-guaranteed Standard Service (S.S.) delivery “period of time” is up to thirty (30) business weekdays." I'm 73 and had open heart surgery less than a month ago. And they tell me 3 days prior to my move that I might not have any furniture to use when I get to my new home. I missed the "fine print".
