"I'm not sure how 5.0 value for money, 5.0 quality and 3.0 customer service becomes a 2.5 rating, but okay. I'm not sure how this was rated without you being present. I believe your wife was annoyed because she was trying to work and didn't realize she would need to answer questions since this is a custom home and she said she designed the casita remodel, so I figured she was the best person to ask. I agree with you, except that you may want to be present the next time you hire someone or let your wife know that she (or an adult) needs to escort me through the home since there were children present and I can't enter their rooms without permission. The questions I ask are part of due diligence, which is required by USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Practice), and every question I ask relates to the value of the home. Please do let the appraiser know in advance of the appointment if there is a basement, guest house, acreage, anything out of the ordinary, so they can give you a fair quote. I discounted your fee by $300 (lower than I usually charge) for a custom home with a basement and casita, over an acre of land, since you had partial blueprints, so I felt it was fair."
