I have used them for probably ten years when we were in Phoenix. They don’t over charge.

I called and explained issue, the air flow would only come out of the vents. They wanted to look at it as this was very unusual for my car to have this problem. They also did not have a labor charge for it right away, due to the uncommon nature of the failure.
They were able to temporary fix the issue,(no charge) though motor would jump around a little, but the new part had to come from out of state, $74. Then they told me the labor was just $105. What a relief!
-------- my history with HON-MAN --------
I have had other work done on both my Honda vehicles with this team, and they have been superb! They do not fix things that are not broken, always looking out for you to get the most use from your parts and auto; rather than finding the most things to replace.
You get a list of recommendations and a sense of urgency about each issue.
I have also had them check out items referred to me by my tire guys ( who also have auto repairs) and each time their honest assessments have been to hold off, that service was not needed. It would be so easy to just agree it needed to be done, but they put the customer first.
they only work on Honda vehicles, but only this shop will work on my Honda vehicles.
100% recommend.

We went in to have an oil leak and squeaky brakes checked. Thankfully,
the brakes did not require repair. A company that says work is not
needed helps to build confidence. They did find a leak in the power
steering line. There was no charge for the initial diagnosis, and we
went back a few days later to have the power steering line repaired.

Hon-Man Auto Care's work is equivalent to the work at a dealership, if not better. His prices are about half of what they were charging me at the dealership. He doesn't try to upsell me. He seems to be real honest about the work that actually needs to be done. When I go in and tell him that there's a strange noise, he can usually fix it. The dealership had fixed a part incorrectly and he actually went back and fixed it from their mistake.

The starter on my 2006 Accord started acting up so I used Angie's list to find a good mechanic to get it replaced. I saw Hon-Man got good reviews and that they primarily serviced Honda's so I thought I'd give them a try.
My overall experience was good. The first time I called, I left a message and then Tait called me back later that night after business hours to follow up. I was impressed that he'd call me after business hours on a Friday and that left a good impression on me. He went out of his way to listen to the problem I had and check to see if the part was availalbe.
I went ahead and brought the car in the follow Monday. I dropped it off in the morning and the work was done by the end of the day. Considering they had to replace the starter as well as some other maintence items, I really wasn't expecting them to have it done the same day. It was a nice surprise.
There was no run around or any of the usual tricks that mechanics will try to pull on you. They just gave me a quote for the work and let me decide if I wanted it done or not. Nothing more. The prices seemed fair, but they were by no means discount. I probably paid about as much as I would have for similar service at the dealer (maybe slightly less). I do feel like they did a quality job though, and and that they were good mechanics that used quality genuine parts. I generally feel like you get what you pay for and if you want it done right, you should expect to pay a little more in the end.
I plan to use Hon-Man for all my future Honda service and would recommend them.

I called late last week for an appointment and made one for this morning. My car is a '94 bought new that has over 120,000 miles and has worked well over the years. I've used a number of repair shops (dealers, independents) over the years, and have had no horror stories, but haven't felt great confidence in any of them. At Hon-Man, I was greeted pleasantly as if I was expected. Waiting room was comfortable and I sat to read for a while. After a little more than an hour, my car had been serviced and inspected and I was given info on recommended repairs. One of the clamps on a previously replaced CV boot (done at another facility 5 yr ago) had come loose and needed replacement and another CV boot needed to be replaced (I had my repair history with me, and this CV boot had not been replaced in many years). There were some other potential leaks that he said we could simply watch that were not in need of immediate work. Since this all made sense to me, I agreed to the work on the CV boots and was told it would be done in about another hour. When it was ready, the bill matched the estimate and I asked about what I should watch for regarding the other "future" leaks. I drove home with confidence in my newly serviced car and with confidence that I've found a new repair shop that is proficient, honest, reasonably priced, and actually friendly. Will definitely use them again.

Called Monday morning and they were able to get me in that morning. They made sure to keep me informed on what was going on, gave me a reasonable estimate of ~$400 for radiator replacement and oil change. They had the work finished before closing time the same day, and the price out the door was just as quoted over the phone. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Will definitely be making them my regular mechanic from now on.

After having the radiator and hoses replaced by a dealer only two weeks earlier, the car overheated again. I saw that the radiator fan was not coming on, and took the car back to the dealer to have the fan system checked.
The dealer told me that the head gasket was blown and that it would cost $1100 to repair. They insisted that the fan was fine, despite the fact that I knew it wasn't coming on when the car was idling in the heat.
I was skeptical, so I called Hon-Man to ask his price for head gasket repair. He agreed to do the work for several hundred less than the dealer - if that was the problem - so I took it to him. He tested the head gasket and told me that it was fine. He even ran the test a second time to be sure (but did not charge me extra), and could not find any problems with the head gasket. The only problem he found was a bad fan switch -- THE VERY PROBLEM I'D REPORTED TO THE HONDA DEALER.
The cost to replace the switch was less than $200. With the other diagnostics and minor things I asked him to take care of during the same visit, my total bill was under $300. The dealer would have charged me the $1100, then still made me pay for the fan switch. I think I would have ended up paying the crooked dealer close to $1500 - five times what I paid Hon-Man.

Set up time in the morning, delivered my car, waited in the lobby, and the car was completed in the time they had indicated. Great service, I will never take my Acura anywhere else.

I have been taking my cars to him for a year and I have been very pleased with them. I use them all the time His name is Pete Johnson. He is a young fellow and he knows his stuff. He is cheaper than the regular Honda dealer. Occasionally he will see something else that needs to be done. I've been very pleased every time I have gone to him. I can count on him to tell me if he sees something that is wrong. He also gives me options and he is not trying to make a buck off of me. I can take it in and it will be ready by noon. If he is busy he will tell me. He is my man and I will definitely use him in the future.

He is an awesome mechanic. He does not try to take advantage of you, especially being a woman. He is very straight forward and will what needs to be fixed immediately and what can wait. His prices are very reasonable and the work that he does is great. I had my air-conditioning completely replaced and he warranted it and I had a problem with it later due to a faulty part and he had it completely replaced again. I have had no bad experiences with him.

I’ve had occasion to take my 2006 Honda Civic and 2003 Honda Odyssey Van to Hon-Man after spotting his recommendation on Angie’s list for car repairs. I wasn’t disappointed. The owner, Tait Johnson, a personable young man, runs a small repair shop located behind the funky India Center on Apache Blvd, across from the Apache Blvd/McClintock light rail station. He’s proven capable, reliable and reasonable. He let’s you know ahead of time what it will cost . If he discovers something amiss, he will get your ok before proceeding with repairs. He explains the repair without making you feel like a moron. The first time I took my Civic for a simple 50k checkup and oil change with synthetic oil. He charged $44. (Honda dealer charges $55.) He gave me the option of bringing my own synthetic oil since he didn’t have the precise grade on hand. (Like bringing your own bottle of wine to a restaurant.) I didn’t. The second time I left my 2003 Odyssey Van at the shop for an oil change. It also had an engine warning light on. Tait called and said he discovered a two broken engine mounts (front and right side) which would cost $412 to repair. (Honda dealer charges $460). He explained that they were a chronic problem with the Honda van. The engine warning light was due to a loose gas cap. He retightened the cap and reset the warning light for no charge. He replaced a rear windshield wiper for $5. Together with a $44 oil change, the total bill with tax came to $482.52, a savings of approx. $75 over what a Honda dealer would charge. He gives you a precise invoice when complete, keeps a computer record of your car’s maintenance and put’s a windshield sticker reminder for your next oil change. HonMan has a comfortable waiting area with a fish tank ala a doctor’s waiting room. Two nice Van Gogh prints on the wall as I recall (“Starry Night” and “Cafe Scene”?) Would I recommend him to anyone who drives a Honda? In a heartbeat. I also like the idea of giving my business to a small mom and pop shop rather than a dealership. Just to be on the safe side I always call a day or a few days before I take the car in

I use Hon-Man for all of the maintenance on both our Odyssey and Accord. This service happened to be more expensive than my typical visit, but my cars are both 9 years old so it is worth periodic expensive repairs to avoid buying new. This shop is not awe-inspiring from the outside and is difficult to find (it is behind a strip mall on Apache), but his service is excellent. If you can get past the exterior, he has a very small but nice waiting area with a large Saltwater aquarium, complementary snacks and soda, as well as XM Radio and an Internet connection if you want to wait and bring your laptop. I typically don't question any of Tait's (the owner) recommendations, he seems very trustworthy and always is willing to talk in detail about why something needs to be done or how something works. Tait has many impressive awards around the shop from when he was a mechanic at a Honda dealership(s). When you call or visit the shop he always deals with you personally. My experiences using this shop over the last 7+ years have always been very confidence inspiring. This time when I got the car home I noticed that the idle was a bit high. I called Tait and he apologized telling me that I could bring it back anytime and he would figure it out on a priority basis. I brought it in, planning on parking and leaving the keys in the drop box. It was 8pm and he was still there with one of his mechanics working on something else so he immediately came out and took a look. The symptoms were not at all obvious, you know, the the kind of situation where it just didn't "feel right", but Tait took a "customer must be right" attitude and asked me to leave it for him to look at more closely. The next day he called and explained that he found that when they did the service they had slightly bent something on the throttle assembly and that he had it fixed. This was the first time I had ever had ANY problem with his service and I was very satisfied with the outcome. He apologized several times and offered me a discount on my next service. The only thing I'm not sure of is whether or not I save a ton of money. I've never really price shopped. He seems reasonable. It is more about confidence that you are not getting ripped off or being sold something you don't need. If you have a Honda I would highly recommend Hon-Man for service!

I'm very happy with his services because he is a guy who really knows everything about cars. He really does know exactly what he's talking about and I would highly recommend him to others because of his professionalism.
