The 3 hours spent here were a total waste of time and money. They did not dig up the lines in fact they didn't do enough exploratory digging to find the existing lines. They changed the plan to run pipes outside the perimeter wall at double the time and cost. The existing lines are there but they didn't explore enough to find them. The sleeves were put in 3 years ago and are above the required grade needed for landscape irregation (1/2" schedule 40 and 80 )The original bid was to use the existing pvc sleeves that run under the patio to the different planting areas (3) and put new water lines through these sleeves. 2 to 3 days at $960.00 /day plus minimal material expense = approx. $2400.00 to $3400.00 ... They changed the plan to run pipes outside the perimeter wall and they quoted double the time and cost. New proposal : Estimate 5 days at $960.00/day plus materials at $1200.00. = $6,000. (They did add approx.$500 material and labor (per Anthony) for some new stone in one bed that was not in the 1st quote so it should be $5,500.00 actually.) Still double the original estimate. Is this "bait and switch" or just a poorly done estimate? Either way I'm not feeling warm and fuzzy about this Company or their level of expertise. I feel an expert would not completely change a plan and double the cost of a proposal at the last minute before starting work. You ask "How did it go"....I paid $480.00 for a new quote and no work done to uncover existing system. Needless to say I will write off the $480.00 as a bad experience and I will look for another company to do the work.
Description of Work: Anthony Paredes of Desert View Landscape of Tempe quoted me several weeks ago on redoing the irregation in our back yard area of our Biltmore casitas home for originally appox. $2400 to $3500. Anthony said he would be bringing a crew member to the house to do exploritory digging to find existing pvc sleeves to run the new water lines and to determine what was needed for any possible new lines, heads, etc. I was told he would be here 1/2 day and expose all lines to prepare for working the following day. This would be a charge of $480.00. I felt this was expensive for 1 man doing exploritory digging, but after thinking about what advantages it would provide, because he would have exposed all the sleeves and they would be ready to work with a full understanding of where everything is with no unforseen problems, it was OK. They arrived on May 11th at 7am and spent time discussing the plan but did very little digging in one corner of the patio and walkway and in the pool equipment area. I was told they had a better and more efficient way of doing the job and I would get a new quote the next day and they would start the day after that at 7am. They left a few minutes after 10am. (I was told they had to be at another job at 10:30. ) Three hours is not 1/2 day for $480 (of labor) and then be told there would be a new quote. I got very little exploritory digging and exposing of lines , but instead I feel like I paid for a new quote that I would be e-mailed the next day, May 12th. (If they were going to re quote instead of starting the exploratory digging why did I pay for 1/2 day of labor why not some reduced fee or ???) To add insult to injury....I asked if I could pay with a credit card and Anthony said yes but he charges 5% more because that's what Well Fargo Visa charges him.
