January, 2014. The unit turned out to be
a lemon. During the summer of 2014, it
started exhibiting symptoms of severe defect: violent rocking and clattering of
the compressor upon start-up on high demand afternoons. Company technicians were unable to detect the cause during
several initial visits, but when the unit failed completely in August of 2015,
the company replaced the faulty components?compressor and external coil?at no
cost to me. My experience with this
company, in the end, was highly satisfactory.
They stand behind the products they sell and take responsibility when
there is a premature system failure (which is more than I can say for Trane, who accepted absolutely no responsibility
for their shoddy manufacturing). I would
add that AZ Refrigeration?s technicians and management personnel were always
very responsive and courteous to me throughout this process. Over all, purchasing a Trane AC has been a
pretty miserable experience for me, but I feel the people at AZ Refrigeration
Service did everything in their power to make things right.
The office called the next day and said if we wanted the part "next week" we would have to pay $150 for "expedited service" which we did as Phoenix was at or near all time record high temperatures (132 degrees in the sun) just then. Our house was like an oven.
We called the next week and were told that they had lost our phone number and were glad we called back. They had the part though and wanted to schedule an appointment in another week to come out and install it.
We complained about it taking almost two weeks to fix a full parts and labor warranty covered repair with "expedited service".. They then decided to come out on June 21 and repair the A/C unit. They repaired it, it ran for 14 days and stopped working..
We called another dealer who promptly fixed it and said the coil should have been pressure tested and vacuum tested to make sure there were no coil leaks and further someone should have called back a day or two later to makes sure the unit was operating properly. The repairman from the second dealership also said that if the vacuum or pressure tests were done the leaks would have been detected.
We gone a salesman wanting to make money, a poor job, fooled out of a $150 "expedited charge" (for what seemed like just a regular amount of time for a IPS shipment), no follow up and a the unit crashed again. We enjoyed 10 days of blistering heat without our A/C unit.
Don't go near this place. In my opinion, they are not honest and do lousy work. Nothing would compensate us for the. miserable days we endured while they lost our phone number.....
I called the warranty people and told them we got a second opinion, and they sent over another air conditioning company to look at it. The warranty company's repairman came right over, and told us we had no freon leak, no oil leak..we are missing a shroud off the unit that it needs to stay cool. After this repairman leaves, my husband realizes he paid for the call for Arizona Refrigeration for the diagnosis even though he told them we have a coupon. I have to say to, in my husband's defense, he is disabled and has memory problems due to his illness (Multiple Sclerosis and recovering from a near fatal bout of Gulliane Barre). At the time he paid he had forgotten we had the coupon even though it was sitting on the island in the kitchen, but he did tell them at the time of the call. So needless to say he called Arizona Refrigeration to tell them he paid in error. So the next day the money comes out of our account, and he calls them. They stated they were not going to refund the money because my husband didn't tell Jim at the time he had the coupon (even though he told them at the time he made the appointment), Jim said he was supposed to do the diagnosis BEFORE we bought the house, and because we had a home warranty (?) --why does that have anything to do with it.
I say--well we aren't going to be doing business with them because 1) they know we have the coupon (Jim gave it to my husband at the time he did repairs on our old house), 2) our home warranty should have nothing to do with it, 3) they were trying to get us to buy a new unit, 4) Jim didn't see a freon or oil leak because we saw pictures the next technician took..and I watched him take them (so whose pictures did he show my husband) and 5) Arizona Refrigeration obviously does not need our business.
Work was performed, finish to be determined. Finally received invoice late morning
