I realize now that I never dealt with this company over the spring growing season, and their behavior this past month has ensured that I will never be using them again. The crews have a tendency to cut shrubs as they would for a commercial property (overcutting to decrease size without regard for aesthetics). They had been doing this in the fall, which was fine, but a few weeks ago they turned a magazine-gorgeous yard , that had been in full spring bloom, into a series of green stumps. Four day prior, I had sent the manager an email asking them to go lightly on the trimming because all the shrubs were in full flower, and not to touch certain plants because they didn't need trimming. I was absolutely horrified at what they had done to my yard. (I should mention that as of this review, the company has yet to respond to the emailed complaint I sent in 2 weeks ago.)
If you consider this company, you might want to have someone on the property while they do the work, because leaving the crew to their own devices can lead to disaster.
SEPT 2012 UPDATE: JC, the company representative, did call me to apologize for the overtrimming incident and offered restitution in the amount of a free month of yard service. I have had the service back several times and they have tried to accommodate my requests with regard to the yardwork. I still believe there are major communication issues that have not yet been resolved, and these are still leading to problems. For example, I just had one of my trees split in half because one of the branches had become way too heavy to bear it's own weight, and was not properly trimmed. I don't feel I should have to dictate proper tree care to a company that I am paying for such service, and I will likely be discontinuing service with them shortly.
