NEW ENGLAND CLOCK SHOP INC

Service Rep who made house call was great. Movement too worn, needs replaced. I built the clock 40 years ago. I have the paperwork that came with the movement. I ordered the same movement from the same company through whom I originally purchased the movement for $300. Paid my house call of $85. Got the receipt where Service Man notes "Unit too worn. She is ordering new new unit and will call us to install." I will pay another $85 house call. Fair deal. We shake hands. An hour later another cranky man from the shop calls and tells me to cancel the order because he wants to buy the movement and charge me $500. Asks me if all I care about is money? Really?! I explain multiple times I want the same movement from the same company original to the clock. He doesn't care. He flat out says he will make more money if he buys the clock and charges me $200 more than I paid and he's in business to make money. He says if I don't agree, he won't install. I said we have a verbal and a written contract. He doesn't care. He hung up on me when I asked him to quit interrupting me. I called back, he still refuses to honor the job. I have filed a complaint with the BBB, posted Yelp review too. This man is a bully, threatens to abort the job unless I agree to let him upcharge me $200 on a $300 product, and for all I know I won't get exactly the same movement from the same company I originally used. Stay away! My resolution to the BBB is that I will pay the remaining $85 directly to the Service Rep if he is agreeable, but that cranky man who called and bullied and threatened to not finish this job will not be allowed in my home. And did I mention that when I called and scheduled the appointment I was told I could buy the new movement or they could. So BAD FAITH, UNETHICAL, and tottering on UNLAWFUL behavior from this man!

I learned of New England Watch when I accompanied a relative to pick up her top-of-the-line watch that NECS repaired. She was very satisfied with the service. I am very happy with their service and recommend them whenever the subject of watches comes up.

Quote to fix Chauncy Jerome OGee clock was 2.5 times higher than other sites. Completion date quoted was also 6x longer than other sites. Before you accept their estimate, shop elsewhere.
