We'd used Struse Plumbing over the years and were satisfied with their work. In April 2023 we asked for an estimate on work we needed done in our kitchen and master bath. They promised an estimate within two days. After more than three weeks (and two calls from us) there is still no estimate and no explanation as to why. We took that to mean they weren't interested in our business. We have gone with another plumber.

I called Struse Plumbing and they sent a person (Nathanel) out within several hours. He tried a quick solution, running a standard 45' snake through two access points at the "stuck" end of the house- down as far as the "unstuck" area but there was still no significant water flow. He obtained a larger snake and removed the toilet from the stuck end of the house in order to get it into the plugged main sewer line. Very shortly thereafter he was able to get the plug removed and start regular drainage working again. He cleaned up all his areas of work and put the toilet securely back in place. He made recommendations on how we might avoid the situation in the future and offered to implement them if I needed assistance doing so.

I had a not so bad experience with them.  They were a little pricey.  I could have a bought a new toilet for what it cost to have them fix the toilet.  I did not realize that until he was done.

The subcontractor was very friendly and professional. He explained everything as he went. He cleaned up his mess , even the small bits. He was very friendly with our dogs and cats.
Response from Struse Plumbing
"We greatly appreciate the feedback, however our records indicate we have not done service for this customer at this location. Our company policy specifically prohibits the sub-contracting of anyone, our licensing does not cover such actions. We do on occasion refer our customers to other licensed contractors for services we are unable to offer, but those contractors are specifically aligned to work directly for the customer. Please provide more details to this service or contact our office. If there is someone doing excellent work we would like to know who so we can sent them more business in the future!"

This company is the best! I've been using them for years (and my parents used them for years before that) and they have always been responsive and priced reasonably. In this latest encounter, I had a house full of guests due to a double death in the family and the kitchen sink faucet broke and needed to be replaced immediately - I called them and explained the situation and they were there within hours - replaced the kitchen faucet immediately, unobtrusively and with no problems. This was a very difficult time for me and my family and this company with their immediate response was sincerely appreciated. I will use them for every plumbing need in the future and highly recommend them to everyone. Thanks Stuse Plumbing for your help at this difficult time!

We are so impressed that we know that when we are traveling we can just call and request plumbing repairs be accomplished . We have a house sitter and this makes her feel very warm and fuzzy.

Overall I was very satisfied with the work done, the competence and his thoughtfulness. When he had completed everything he went into the room where my husband was in his hospital bed and explained everything he had done which very much releaved my husbands mind.

I bought an old house as a second home and called this company to install a new hot water heater and leak test the gas lines. I was in WA and the house was in AZ. I should have known better than to hire someone I didn't know to do work while I was not there. What they didn't know was that I am a journeyman steamfitter and my brother is a master plumber in CO. I have also been a construction manager for 18 years and an AWS welding inspector, so although they got away with it, they conned the wrong person. First of all they sent a VERY FRIENDLY guy out to do the work which had the skills of a first year apprentice. I warned him that the gas pipe on the roof was open and needed to be plugged before the test. He called me and told me I had a horrendous leak in the garage. I asked him if he plugged the pipe on the roof and he said and quot;what pipe?and quot; then he said and quot;oh yeah, I plugged that.and quot; Having only seen the piping a couple of times, I trusted him. He said all the piping in the garage had to be replaced. He said he was going to do it in yellow plastic. I asked him if that met code and he said yes. I consulted my brother who said it was uncommon but OK. When I finally got to see his work, he had re-piped it in black iron screwed pipe (which is more common) and the yellow plastic pipe was laying all over the place in the yard. He re-tested and said that now all the underground piping was bad. I said OK fix it. I was in a bind because I was travelling from WA to AZ with 2 big dogs and needed hot water in order to move in. They were well aware that I was on my way and the job needed to be complete. When I arrived I discovered that there was nothing wrong with either the black pipe in the garage or the underground piping. Nothing was corroded or damaged. With screwed pipe, if there is a leak, you can replace or tighten the problem area. You do not need to replace all the piping. All the underground piping was still intact and uncorroded. It was coated and had the joints taped according to code. If there was a large leak it could have been cut out and repaired. All of the gas piping was in great shape (still laying in a pile in the yard). I inspected all the pipe and fittings that were torn out and the piping was solid and looked like brand new. All the time he was claiming that it was leaking all over. He should have been able to show me the problem areas but he could not. Our sidewalk and our yard were ripped up and the fence torn
down. Our irrigation system was torn up. None of the damage was repaired. The piping that was torn out and all the garbage from the installation was left strewn all over the garage and yard. The only plus side to that is that I had the evidence that the piping that he tore out was in good shape. If there ever was a leak all he had to do was make a repair. Mike asked me if my stove was gas or electric after he claimed he had installed “all new gas valves throughout the house” (exactly two) I said of course it is gas didn’t you say you replaced all the gas valves? He said he did not know the piping to the stove was underground. I am not a plumber but I could look at it and tell you that in less than 5 seconds. Of course it was underground; you could see it coming through the wall on the outside! The bottom line is that he did not look at the job long enough to figure out how he was going to run the pipe
to the stove. He did not realize hecould run it above ground until someone else coached him. He did not take into account the sprinkler system and allow for that. He kept making stupid mistakes and was totally clueless. He could screw pipe together but had no idea what the code was or what was required. He did not have journeyman level skills. He installed the hot water heater in the garage flat on the floor (not to code), he piped the pressure relief valve to the floor (instead of outside) and hung copper tubing on the wall with galvanized hangars (dissimilar metals not to code). He installed the copper connectors on top of the tank as a soldered connection with no way to remove them (short of cutting them) and lots more. His work was not level or plumb and everything was sloppy. He installed a new toilet on a tile floor without shimming and it was rocking the first time I used it. The gas piping he ran to the stove on the outside of the wall was not anchored correctly and fell down a few hours after he left. He flunked the inspection three times and basically the inspector coached him through the job. Finally, he knew I was angry so he brought his wife and kids with him to pressure me into signing off on the job. Yes, he was a professional. A professional con man and completely incompetent. Little old ladies beware! This guy is a smooth talker and very friendly. Absolutely, hands down, the most blatant I have ever seen. I would include pictures but I can't figure out how to insert them here.

Response from Struse Plumbing
"All issues with this customer were resolved at the time of service, the Owner responded himself, and addressed the customer concerns. The customer signed off accepting all work was complete and acknowledged the guarantee terms. Struse has not been made aware of issues about this service since. The only conversations since the service were related to payment for services rendered, and all parties sided with Struse Plumbing, and the customers were provided the information to submit their complaints in writing, and failed to do so. Even the pictures that are attached to his complaint are not relevant because the issues were corrected prior to the service being signed off on by the customer. Struse Plumbing will proudly honor all guarantees related to this and all of our services, there have been no issues with these products or installation since that have been brought to the attention of Struse Plumbing."

We hired Struse to replace an electric heater in a mobile home we were renting. After paying about $300.00 for the new heater, the worker came to the mobile and removed the defective heater. However, he refused to install the new heater until a new resident moved in. We actually were moving back into the mobile, but the work was never completed. I took the receipt and the situation to the owners of the company several times and was told that the situation would be investigated. However, nothing was ever done to rectify the issue--we paid for a heater that was NEVER installed. Even though we had a receipt showing the unit was paid for, management did not follow through and resolve the situation. We probably should have taken them to court, but we were too trusting that the company management would take care of the issue. They may do excellent work, and they have in past experiences, but be careful that you get the merchandise you are paying for.

Plumber was an hour early--nice, but not announced. He was very friendly! First he fixed my bathroom sink and had the parts for repair in truck. That only took about 20 minutes and that was complete. Then started main leak--that took much longer! He explained everything; but had to get other tools because piping was different type than expected.

A few days after the repair, my tenant called to inform me that the toilet was still not draining, so I again asked Struse to repair the problem that was not resolved the first time. They again responded promptly and reported that they would have to remove the toilet from the drain to do the job properly and that it would cost more than the original service call. The individual they sent to do the work reported back to me upon completion and billed me another $230.00. I was surprised that they billed me that much and had actually expected a discount since they didn't do the job right the first time. At any rate, had that second trouble call resulted in success, I might have still rated them with an and quot;Aand quot; across the board - maybe marking them down to a and quot;Band quot; for price. However, several days later, my tenant called again to report that the toilet was leaking from the base onto the bathroom floor. With what little knowledge I have of plumbing, it was my thought that the wax seal was either not replaced with a new seal (required), or it was not seated properly. I called Struse again to inquire about that possibility, and the office clerk had the plumber call me to discuss the ongoing problem. The plumber told me that it was definitely not the wax seal causing the problem. I asked him to take another look at it, without additional charge, and he informed me that he would have to schedule another visit with the office clerk. It has been 6 weeks and I have not heard from them. Fortunately, it was not an emergency as the tenant went on vacation and she turned off the water spigot which seemed to resolve the problem temporarily while she was gone. As a business man, I pay very close attention to customer response to and satisfaction with work performed because I would like to be considered for future work for a satisfied customer. I employ quality assurance checks to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and quality of product or service delivered. I was surprised that Struse does not take the initiative to ensure that the job was completed properly and successfully. They apparently do not have any type of quality assurance checks in place and doesn't appear that they care what their customers think of them or the lack of quality in their work. I have no doubt that they would be capable of resolving simple routine plumbing problems that don't require above-average trouble-shooting actions, but they don't seem to have the skills to analyze a problem that is not of a routine nature. My major irritation with Struse Plumbing is their lack of concern about their inability to resolve the problem. I have invested $355.00 to have the problem resolved, but it seems that the original problem (drain blockage) still exists, with the additional problem of water leakage from the bottom of the toilet. They were willing to walk away from the problem without any concern for a job well done. As that seems to be their attitude, I will not be requesting their services in the future and do not recommend them to anyone else.

UPDATE 04/11/2012 - I hired a new plumber to address the problems with the toilet in the rental unit. He informed me that the drain blockage reported by the tenant had actually been resolved by Struse during their second trip to the residence so, please understand that the drainage problems were completely resolved after Struse's second visit. He also confirmed that that when the Struse plumber replaced the toilet bowl and secured it to the floor, he used a wax seal that was too small for the gap which caused an ongoing leak at the bottom of the toilet bowl. Weeks ago, when I reported the leakage to Struse after their second visit, and mentioned that I thought it would be related to the wax seal, the Struse plumber told me that it was definitely not the wax seal. After the new plumber's diagnosis, he installed a wax seal of the appropriate size which resolved the leak and billed me only $63.75 for the repair. I called Struse yesterday to report that the problem that their plumber denied actually did exist and that it was due to the wax seal as I had suggested. I believe that the replacement of the wax seal is the financial responsibility of Struse because it was caused by their plumber. I asked that a portion of what I paid them be refunded because of the additional cost to repair the leak by a different plumber. I was told that the Struse owner would contact me today but, as of 4 PM, I haven't heard back from them.

This property in Hereford AZ is my winter place and the main water pipe had been frozen and broken by the freeze in January, 2011. I called Struss (while living in Ohio) to fix pipe and they originally quoted me $725.36 and it then became $1220.39. I paid them $350.00 up front and $870.39 upon completion. This company was referred to me by another plumber in the area (who had back issues and could not complete job) so I trusted that they would do the job correctly. I was in Ohio all this time. When I returned to the property on February 21, 2012 (five months after the job was completed) I found the water line sagging considerably in the middle (a good candidate for water freezing in the pipe) and called Struss to come and take a look at the sagging pipe. They told me they would get back to me on how we could fix this issue. This was over a week ago, and when I called the company early this week (Tues, 3/13/12), I was told someone would call me back. I have yet to hear what this company plans to do about this poor job. They indicated when they were at the property this was probably my "maintenance" issue. They seemed to feel they did their job and five months later it is my responsibility to fix their poor workmanship. Believe me, if they can't fix it, I will find someone else to do it. This was very poor workmanship. Kay Neffenger, 4418 E, Miller Canyon Road, Hereford, AZ. I am a realtor and I work with many vendors, and this company has some of the worst customer service I have ever seen.
Response from Struse Plumbing
"Struse Plumbing could not complete this client's request for additional work on the line after she had a "handy man" not related to any Licensed Contractor complete a repair caused by erosion issues to the repair that Struse Plumbing made. This repair was not to the standards of Licensed Contractors, Struse Plumbing advised the client that unless the repair was completed to those standards it compromised the structural integrity of the entire line. Struse Plumbing is required to notate and repair all issues not to those standards or we can not completed any work at all. She refused to have the repair completed properly prohibiting Struse Plumbing from completing any further work to this water line. As for her complaint about the price, the additional charges were for additional work that she requested to be done and advised she understood there would be additional charges for."

They have done good work for me. We had a pretty good idea of where it was. They went right through the drywall and found it on the first try. They fixed it immediately. They did a great job.
