When I originally called to make the appointment, I was told that they were not carrying the generic heart worm preventative anymore, that the company went out of business, and that they were now carrying the high dollar one.
We were also told that we would have to pay for a "wellness exam" even though we only wanted him tested for heart worm and to have his script refilled for the preventative.
After getting home, I researched online and find multiple sites where this so called "generic out of business drug" was being sold, and it was MUCH CHEAPER THAN WHAT WE PAID FOR THE NON-GENERIC DRUG!
Not only that, I placed a cold phone call to the manufacturer themselves and spoke with a sales person who informed me that not only were they still in business, that this heart worm preventative was their biggest seller, and that there was NO problem with getting this drug.
On top of that, I was told that vets buy their drugs through a distributor network that they have, and that the vets have a choice of not one distributor, but TWO in which to buy from. So in case one distributor may be out of a particular drug, they have another in which to get the drug from.
Finding out this info, I placed a call to Coronado and expressed my displeasure as to what I had been told by them and what the drug manufacturer told me.
I was told that the office manager would not be in the office until after the weekend, and that she would contact us.
Here it is, FIVE BUSINESS DAYS later, and still NO PHONE CALL.
We believe they are selling the more expensive drug because they may be able to make more of a profit with it instead of the generic.  We are in favor of a company wishing to make as much money as they want, but we have a big problem with being LIED TO!
So between that and the fact we had to pay for a "wellness exam" in order to have anything else done, is the reason for this very much less than satisfactory review.

I have found Coronado Veterinarian Clinic to be reasonably priced, clean and have a well trained staff compared to the other vets I have used in Sierra Vista. The veterinarians do not try to push unwanted and un necessary tests on you to push the bills up high such as I have found in the other clinics. They spend time explaining options to you and the front office staff is friendly, find answers to questions and always helpful. It is obvious they like their jobs and work well with owners and pets. I highly recommend this clinic over any others that I have used over the 14 years I have lived here.

They don't gouge too much on price and most of the veterinarians around here are absolutely ridiculous.

Coronado Veterinary Hospital is wonderful. Dr. Geiger is a very upstanding and knowledgeable veterinarian. This place is so accommodating to it's client le. When I was having to bring my cat in for ear infections 3 times a week, they only charged me for the medicine, not the office call. This really impressed me.
