In one word: FANTASTIC. Bob's Tree & Landscape was recommended to us by a neighbor so we called them as well as a couple other firms to come out and discuss our project and give us bids. Will Davis came out for the bid. We got an appointment right away (which was great). When Will came out, he listened to what we wanted done, gave us some good ideas and noticed a few small things that our original landscaper had done that should probably be fixed. He told me he'd have the bid to us in a couple days and sure enough, that's when we got it. His bid was very fair. There were a few questions I had about the bid and Will was glad to come back out and discuss them. I also wanted some things put in writing and he was happy to do so (e.g., once the job was started, the crew would stay on the job until they finished [i.e., not go start another job and come back], they would adhere to all HOA rules for contractors, etc.). We set a date to have it done a few months out (because of our schedule) and that's exactly when he started. In fact, they had finished a job a day early and wanted to start ours a day early which worked out perfectly. The crew showed up each day and worked their butts off. The foreman of the crew (Angel) was great too. The job took 7 days in total and the yard looks great. All total, they 1) put done a new layer of landscape rock over the entire yard (including a new weed barrier) but they did it right meaning they cleared out the old rock along the sidewalks and driveway so that the rock would not fall out onto them, they raked out parts of the old rock to get it more level before they put the new rock on top, they raked out the new rock to make it more level, etc. 2) took out all the old boulders and put in new boulders (1'-2' in size) while being patient to let me specify which rocks went where in the yard (and were very accommodating when I wanted a couple of them switched) {by the way, allowing the homeowner to specify where boulders were to be placed was something I specifically had asked Will to put in the contract), 3) built a small retaining wall (which turned out great) to replace a more sloped wall of rocks, 4) replaced 7 plants that had died with different ones that now look way better than what we had (including moving the sprinkler heads to them). We discovered that a reason 3 of the plants had probably died was that they were planted on solid rock. Will's team took a jack hammer and drilled deep holes in the rock and filled them with soil to help the new ones grow!, 5), replaced a large section of rip rap that had been deteriorating, and 6) cleaned up the entire natural landscape part of our yard by removing all the dead stuff, pulling out all the noxious weeds and weed whacking the natural grasses. Since the lot had probably never been cleared, they took a ton of stuff out and it now looks great. One final thing they did was an on-the-job addition. One side of our house is pretty sloped and it was hard to get to the back walking on the landscape rock that was there. Will suggested putting in some steps and discussed options the first day of the job. The cheapest option would be to put in pressure treated lumber steps about 18" apart with landscape rock in between. I asked him for a bid and the next day he got it to me. It was reasonable so we had the crew do that while they were there. Now we have a much safer way to walk to the back of our sloped yard! Regarding payment, Will told us during the bid that he requires half on the first day of work and half upon completion of the job which we thought was very fair. Will was also great in getting the required paperwork to our HOA in order to get the necessary approvals before starting the job. He also filed the paperwork for the change for the steps right away. Our HOA speaks very highly of Will and says he's one of the best landscapers they work with. Another pleasant surprise was how good they were at cleaning up every day before they left and doing a final clean-up on the last day of the job. Like I said at the beginning of this review, they did a FANTASTIC job and I'd totally recommend them. Will has done a lot of jobs in Yavapai Hills (he's the preferred landscaper for one of the builders here) and people speak very highly of him and his crew. We sure wish he had been our builder's landscaper as we would have had our yard done right the first time instead of having to pay to have it all redone only 3 years after having our house built! I've uploaded a few before, during and after photos.

The project started and finished on schedule and the people involved were all very professional.  I will use them for my next job.
