SPACES indoors & out

Description of Work: Barbara Kaufman is the owner and designer of Spaces Indoors and Out. She is very experienced, professional and on time for every meeting. We contracted Barbara to help us envision how our dated 1970's kitchen remodel might look. Our house is a 70's solid block construction, which means some "interesting" engineering considerations when thinking about knocking down walls. | |Barbara's experience facilitated our perception of what was possible and what we thought, probable. She engaged a structural engineer to confirm her design concerns and to affirm impact on possible project costs. This was very beneficial. | |We don't really have any complaints except that our expectations were aligned with what you see on HGTV where designers come in, look at your space for an hour, go away and come back a few days later with color 3D conceptual designs to help you "see" the possible and make decisions based upon those conceptual representations. Barbara is not that kind of designer. Her approach is incremental, thorough and basic. More discussion "imagine if you will...." than detailed conceptual drawings - though she did generate basic floor plan diagrams based upon our feedback. | |Barbara's approach is sound, based upon many years of remodeling experience as contractor and designer. It is invaluable and unerring. In this we would certainly recommend Barbara's services to anyone, wrestling with significant design and engineering requirements.

Description of Work: Barbara Kaufman of Spaces indoors and out helped us remodel, design and decorate a home we bought this past year. She did design of the kitchen and all bathrooms which turned out to be spectacular. She also redisigned our fireplace into a work of art and focal point of our great room. She did the plans and redesign of the master bathroom adding additional closet space and updating the look. The subcontractors that she had were all of superior quality and reliability with the expertise that was needed. She also helped with the outdoor landscaping and design of our new brick paver driveway and walks.Barbara is a pleasure to work with , understanding our needs and helping us through every step of our major project. Her knowledge and ability to oversee every aspect of our project was terrific. She was able to bring samples, etc. to us at home as well as bring us to the best of showrooms. It is a pleasure to highly recommend her to anyone who needs design and decorating skills of a true friendly, highly talented person.
