I wish they had given us a bit more information when asking where we wanted the gate and how that effects the placement of the double connecting poles, We wound up having a set of connecting poles right in the middle of our greatroom picture window which was not acceptable. It cost an additional $800 to change the layout of the fence to move the double poles out of view from the greatroom. I little more time explaining the layout based on our gate location choice and we would have selected a different location for the gate. The $1700 project turned out to be $2500.

Great service, arrived on time and gave an on site price quote. Installers came two weeks later, and my fence looks great.

The guys showed up on time and got right to work. They completed the job in a couple of hours and cleaned up their work. I would recommend PROTECT-A-CHILD POOL FENCE SYSTEMS and would use their services again.

Went well. Not overly crazy about the latching system, they used like a butterfly hollow wall anchor. It was difficult for many to use and broke soon afterwards. We're using a clip now to close the opening, but it's still not very convenient. But at the same time, we did not choose to do a gate so their choices were probably somewhat limited. In hindsight maybe we would have been better of with a gate and some kind of decent and safe latching lock. But overall they did a good job.

Smooth installation. It's two months later now and I have no complaints. Price was not specially low or specially high... competitive with the other providers I talked to.

First of all, I have to say the fence itself is great. But we are so disappointed in the workmanship and customer service! Marty came out on a Sunday morning; and we were very pleased with the prompt estimate. He sent 2 of his men to install the fence (although both my husband and I remember him saying that HE would be on the jobsite doing the installation). They arrived late but completed the installation promptly...however when we took the fence down we noticed that the plastic sleeves that were placed in the holes that were drilled in our patio deck were not flush with the surface of the decking. One of them is up about a 1/4", which someone can easily trip and fall on. Also, where one of the holes was drilled a large chunk of the decking came out adjacent to the hole. My husband called and notified them of the problems. Marty's response was pretty much a blow off. He said that WE could take a block of wood and hammer down the plastic sleeves....and I suppose WE could....but WE are not the installers and should not have to complete the work ourselves. We sent him a photo of the hole in the decking...and he said that was a stone in the decking that blew out. We asked that he come and take a look at the workmanship. His response was "What is the outcome that you want from me looking at it?" Well Marty....here is your answer: We would like you to make it right. Correct your worker's mistakes. Take some responsibility. After ready so many wonderful reviews, we cannot believe how poor the customer service was for us.

I contacted Marty regarding having a removable pool fence installed to protect my dogs around the pool. He answered my call promptly and arrived on time on the arranged date. He explained the product construction and installation process well and was upfront about having had a couple of instances in the past where dogs damaged the fence. He explained how a gate was not really necessary in my situtation and would be just an added cost as access is easily achieved without a defined gate closure. The installation went smoothly and quickly. Marty thoroughly explained how the fence and access worked after the installation was complete and now I am worry free! I would highly recommend Marty and Protect-a-Child to anyone.

Installation took between 1 and 2 hours. Marty took time to layout exactly where the fence was going to be placed and options for the location of the door. He also reviewed the gate locking mechanism with me after the installation as well as what I would need to do if I wanted to remove some of the fencing. They also gave me caps to put over the holes should I decide sometime in the future to remove the fencing.

A+++ service. Marty is a friendly and knowledgeable person who as been doing this for decades. He is a one-man operation; the guy you talk to on the phone is the guy who does the estimate and the full installation. He performed a free estimate and installed the fence the next week. He arrived promptly for both the estimate and the installation. Install took about 2.5 hours for 90 feet of fence. Final product is solid and also has a few innovations that Marty came up with himself. I would highly recommend Protect-A-Child to anyone looking for a relatively low-cost alternative to steel or iron pool fencing. Marty charges a flat fee of either $13/ft for aluminum, or $15/ft for fiberglass. Any other fees, taxes, and labor are already worked into that cost, so you know how much you'll be paying based on the estimated length of fence you require. I only needed about 90 feet, so I decided to spend the additional $180 and get fiberglass instead of aluminum. The installation requires drilling into the deck; Marty uses professional equipment for this. Each hole is sleeved with plastic, and the fence poles go in. The tolerances are very tight, so this coupled with the tension from the mesh means you can't simply lift the poles out. You have to apply pressure in a certain direction in order to get them out. This is perfectly fine for an adult, but makes it virtually impossible for a small child to remove them. Each section of fencing consists of 4 or 5 (can't remember) panels. Sections are held together by a toggle bolt. Again, an adult can manipulate this locking mechanism just fine, but a child would need three or four hands to get it to unlatch. I had Marty set up my fence so that one set of poles that latch together is directly in front of the pool stairs, so that it acts as an entrance to the pool. Good for when you just want to take a dip. However, you can simply remove the entire pool fence in a few minutes if you choose to do so - good for when you have a party.

Called around the holidays, and they came out a few days later and gave us a quote. The price was great, so we scheduled an install for a week later. He was on time and professional. He was consultative in regard to where the fence should go and the color fence we should get. Our pool is on the side of our house, so we only had to put the fence along one wall, instead of going around the entire circumference of the pool, which would have been considerably more expensive.

Martin was fantastic! He responded quickly to our inquiry about the product, put on a great demo and then did a great job installing the fencing. My wife and I are extremely happy with it, it's extremely safe, well built and looks good. We'd highly recommend this to anyone looking for a new pool fence.

Contacted Protect A Child pool fencing, scheduled an appt. Marty came out on time as scheduled. Discussed with him our needs and concerns. At the time we felt we wanted a fence we could remove since our concern is for our grandchildren's safety when they are visiting. After doing some comparing, felt his product is superior over other products being sold out there. Marty has been in the business for many years and his knowledge and expertise is very apparent. Also he is very conscious and is truly all about child safety along excellent customer service. Now after seeing the finished fence, don't feel any need to remove it inbetween our grandchildren's visits but still have that option available. The fence truly looks great. We are very happy we chose them and feel a big relief having it done. We highly recommend Protect A Child/Marty, great product, great service!

I contacted Marty after reading all the exemplary reviews about his company on Angie's List. I called and spoke with him directly. We made arrangements for him to come out the following week to give an estimate and possibly start work. On the morning of the appointment, he arrived very punctually. He presented his product in a very straightforward, professional manner, no hard selling. He clearly explained the different options that were available, how the fence worked and why it was superior to other pool fences. I agreed to have him install the fence.
He gave me an estimated time of about four hours to complete the work, which turned out to be almost exactly the amount of time it actually took. The end result was a sturdy, yet very attractive fence with a self-latching gate that's given me peace of mind when it comes to my five-year-old son's safety around the pool.
If you're looking to install a pool fence, I highly recommend Marty to do the job. You'll be glad you did!

Everything went well, from our initial phone inquiry, to Marty's visit to our home to give us an estimate, to the installation and to our use and enjoyment of the fence. We don't have any children, but we wanted a fence that would keep small critters such as lizards and rabbits from running into our pool -- and keep leaves and other debris from blowing in at ground level. This fence works remarkably well in those regards. The mesh fits snugly to the pool deck; I had worried that there might be a gap of an inch or 2. I also had worried that drilling post holes might cause some cracking in our newly refinished deck, but that was a needless worry. The holes were cut cleanly with a machine that Marty uses, and his measurements for the posts and holes were perfect. There are a couple of steps that lead up to the attached spa, but the fence rises to follow the steps and looks good. We couldn't be happier with our pool fence.

I called Protect A Child because of the reviews on Angie's List and left a message for Marty who called me back promptly and we organized for him to come and give us a quote a couple of days later. He came out and looked at our pool, he was very knowledgeable about the product and gave good advice on the lay out and color after listening to what we wanted, on that basis we asked him to install the fence for us. He was very busy but because we lived close and we had very young children and needed the fence in ASAP he kindly did us in stages, doing all the prep work of drilling holes one morning and then installing the fence when he had a new supply in. The fence looks great and black truly is amazingly transparent as well as making the pool safe for the children. Marty was fast and cleaned up after every job, he is a very nice gentleman who has been doing this for a long time and really knows the product, he gives good advice, and never tried to sell us something we did not need, he is all about the safety and giving the best customer service. I would highly recommend Marty and Protect A Child if you are looking for a great product and great customer care.

About Marty and his product - we couldn't be more thrilled. I never would have guessed so much consideration would go in to picking the right color fence (I now know black is the ONLY way to go) and more importantly, how to lay out the fence to maximize usability of our backyard both in and outside of the fence perimeter. Marty helped us consider our options and weight the pros and cons. What we ended up with is a layout that suits our needs perfectly!
I have to admit that I was NOT looking forward to installing the fence and detracting from our beautiful backyard. But Marty promised that with a black fence I would look right through it and it would seemingly disappear. He was absolutely right. I can see through the window, through the fence, all the way to the bottom of our pool. I can enjoy our landscaping from one end of the pool to the other, even looking through two layers of pool fence.
Of course safety for our infant, soon to be toddler, is paramount. Having this safety feature which barely detracts from the beauty of our backyard is a win-win.
I am SO glad we chose Marty. He is a great person, offers a great product, and provides an outstanding value.
I simply cannot recommend Protect-A-Child highly enough!
