NY DESIGN BUILD

Things started out well. Brian took us shopping for toilet and fixtures. The job was supposed to start in early January. They told us it would take a month. We quickly remodeled a small hall bath to use while the master was being remodeled. We never heard from them and finally contacted them. They began work in mid-February. Work was sporadic. They couldn't find anyone to do the tile work. When they finally found someone it wasn't professionally done and some of it had to be torn out. They would show up about once a week. Very little was done. The work that was done was good but the wait was miserable. Very poor about communicating when someone would be out to work. Washer and dryer were installed (we bought them) but didn't fit in the space they had prepared. They had mismeasured. New cabinets had to be ordered and it took over a month. Tile was still not finished even after the new cabinets were in. I had to threaten to get the work done. The 4 week job actually took 5 1/2 months.

Very poorly. No management of staff on the job site. Overall our electricity consumption has increased by 30% as they did not understand the word 'insulation'. We had several floods in the house from rain - one a major flood requiring additional demolition and drywall replacement. The air conditioner was placed on a tin box which amplifies the sound. When the air conditioner is on it has the sound of a freight train! They did not seal the ducts in the house - a project I did myself over 3 days. The electrical was done poorly with a majority of the load being placed on one circuit breaker!Light switches were placed at different heights above the ground. One set of switches for the family room is low enough that my 1 year old grandson can give everyone a light show as he can easily reach the switches. There are many more errors. We threw them out towards the end. I would never recommend or use NY Design Build or their management again!
