I am incredibly pleased with the results and the peace of mind Daryl and MoldEx have provided me. Daryl provided me with a comprehensive report detailing his meticulous remediation efforts and even granted me a transferable warranty in case of any mold resurgence. His commitment to quality and customer satisfaction was truly commendable. Without hesitation, I wholeheartedly recommend MoldEx to anyone in need of mold testing and remediation services. Daryl's professionalism, reliability, and genuine care for his customers are truly commendable, and I am confident that others will have the same positive experience that I had. MoldEx has earned my highest recommendation, and I will be spreading the word to friends, family, and anyone seeking top-notch mold testing and remediation assistance.
Description of Work: I had the pleasure of hiring Daryl Choby, the owner of MoldEx The Mold Experts, for mold testing and remediation services, and I can't express how satisfied I am with his exceptional level of attention and responsiveness. Unlike my initial home inspector's air mold test, which failed to pinpoint the mold source, Daryl took the initiative to visit my house and collect surface samples, which he assured me were more reliable. True to his word, the test results revealed mold in the cabinets near the kitchen sink and the air ducts. I engaged Daryl to remediate the mold and restore the cabinets to a pristine condition since I was also installing new kitchen cabinets. Not only did he efficiently complete the job, but he also ensured that fresh air circulated throughout the house, leaving no room for mold to resurface. To my surprise, Daryl went above and beyond by returning for the next two days to check on the treated area and make sure everything was in order.

He responded very quickly, and dropped by the same afternoon to look at the problem. In the course of a few more minutes he was able to tell that it had not infiltrated into the drywall, and that no remediation was needed. Although I offered to pay for the housecall, he did not charge me for his time. I rate him A+ for honesty and integrity and would recommend him to anyone.

My house was making me sick and Daryl helped me narrow down what to fix. He was always on time, very easy to work with, very informative, and he came by so many times. He also helped me get a better Air Duct cleaning services referral since when he checked the prior company had not done a good job and even showed me where to look and how it should be cleaned. It took us awhile to figure what to fix, but I can finally live in my house again. I would highly recommend him.

Daryl came out next day provided quote in two days, did a pristine job with remediation and rebuild of cabinet boxes. Looks even better than before. He is busy so he couldn't start work for a little over a week, but he also had the best quote by far (tried 3 other services) so it was worth the wait.

I reached out to Daryl through Angie's List and, even though, he was booked out for several weeks, he called me back right away and recommended a mold testing company that he works with, who I see is also highly rated on Angie's List. He advised me that the company that does the testing should be independent from the company that does the remediation, which makes complete sense. He also spent a significant amount of time on the phone withe me to educate me about how the tests are conducted and which labs are most reputable in our area. He was so helpful and responsive that, if given the chance again, I would definitely use his company for remediation work and even renovation work.

Response from Moldex
Thank you for your very kind words, and for taking the time to write a positive review, but I believe there are several misunderstanding. When you called, I was booked over 2 weeks in advance for Mold remediation projects, Mold inspection projects I can usually get to very quickly. If I recall correctly; your circumstances dictated immediate attention, I was involved in an urgent matter, I felt that I was not doing you justice by not being able to provide you with my undivided attention, so I referred you on to a respected competitor. To clarify another point; Mold Inspection and/or Mold Remediation companies take samples of suspected mold contamination, these samples should be submitted to a independently owned and operated laboratory that is accredited for Mold analysis (American Industrial Hygiene Association EMLAP Accredited), and it is the laboratory that "Tests" the samples in order to determine the presence of mold. The controversy over a potential conflict of interest actually relates to a handful of Mold Inspection and/or Mold Remediation Companies that own & operates their own laboratories and performs their own "testing" - thereby having a controversial final outcome in the test result. The idea that Mold Inspectors Test for Mold is such a common misconception that, as an Expert Witness, we advise legal counsels to utilize this misconception as one of basic acid tests in order to determine a person's level of Mold industry expertise in a court of law. To play the Devils Advocate...No one is obligated to accept a bid from any Mold Remediation Company based upon the fact that the Mold Remediation Company performed a Mold Inspection, on the other hand; Mold Inspection Companies are typically paid referral fees from their list of Recommended Remediation Contractors after they successfully contract a project. In regards to my advice on Reputable Laboratories; The State of Arizona does not require any State Licensing in order to operate a Mold laboratory, nor do they require any scholastically acknowledged credentials and/or verification of proficiency in order to offer mold test analysis to the general public. I am sad to say that we have Mold laboratories being operated by people with no credentials in microbiology, and in one case, 2 women are running the "Laboratory" out of the garage of a house. Thank You for choosing Moldex. Daryl Choby WRT, AMRT, PhD Certified

Water was collecting under a bath tub but it didn't seem to be damaging the surrounding walls. Couldn't figure out what was going on. Daryl diagnosed the problem suggesting it was due to a leaking tub liner. Apparently the previous owner had a liner installed but its presence was not apparent to me. Daryl provided the diagnosis over the phone without charge.

Daryl came to the house to inspect a water damage problem from a slow leak in a water supply line. After looking at the site of the leak, examining the kitchen cabinets around it, and pulling up bedroom carpet to check the pad, baseboard and the wall nearest the leak, he found no signs of mold. He gave me some recommendations for replacing the carpet and for disinfecting the floor before we have new carpet installed next month. At the end of the inspection, he didn't charge me anything for his time! I would call him right away if another problem like this one develops.

I had a leak in my master bathroom shower. The leak caused mold to enter the wall and caused the drywall to crumble. I called Daryl and he came out the next day and did testing. He provided me with a detailed bid and report on what kinds of mold were in the wall. He also tested the air quality in the house. Daryl returned after I accepted his bid and did all of the work. The new drywall looks great. He matched it with the rest of the bathroom including the texture. Daryl was very professional and he was always at my home exactly when he said he would be. I recommend using him anytime you find mold in your home.

From start to finish it was a wonderful experience working with Daryl. He is very professional and well informed about mold issues and suggested various things that we could do to prevent further mold development. One special note is that he does not hire any third party contractors for any reconstruction projects, but he does it himself. I really loved his attention to detail and his sense of humor. Overall I'm glad i called moldex and Daryl was top notch.

Very impressed with the work provided by MoldEx. Our guest bedroom had mold damage from a previously repaired issue. MoldEx was in and out in three days after using environmental scubbers for the air, removing the mold from all surfaces, and repairing the wall. The paint colors used match perfectly! We received a follow-up report to confirm that the mold has been cleared. We feel safe in our upstairs again! Would definitely recommend to friends and use again (although I hope we do not have to!). Thanks MoldEx!

Came out and supposedly tested for mold in the house as I was having multiple new health issues. I was concerned about the Arizona Room and he said he wasn't concerned about that area, and didn't test there. Found some mold under bathroom sink and wanted to charge $1500.00 to remediate. Husband remediated for under $100.00. Said there was no mold anywhere else in the house. My health continued to deteriorate and after a few more months I was deathly ill. Called another testing company who does not do remediation. They ONLY test. They came out, tested thoroughly and found massive amounts of mold in air handler and throughout Arizona Room!! Was so bad we had to move from the house.

Response from Moldex
Let me begin by stating that at no time during the 8+ months that have gone by since I originally conducted the Mold inspection on this home, not once was I ever contacted by the client to express their concerns. I was only made aware that there was an issue when I recently read the review on Angie’s List. I would suspect that the delay was due to the time span that it took for the land lord to have these clients, who were renting the home, held legally accountable for cross contaminating the home. These clients are now looking for a scapegoat because the husband and/or the “Mold Test Only” company cross contaminate the home, rendering it unlivable. A full visual inspection of this home (including the Arizona room) took place on November 15, 2014. Upon completion of the inspection, we took 4 inspection samples … an indoor and outdoor air test sample, a swab surface sample from a heavily water damaged bathroom sink cabinet, and a swab surface sample from the base of the air handler platform. The indoor air test contained a mix of indoor air that was inclusive of the Arizona room, and one of the swab surface sample taken from a utility room that located within the Arizona room. The total fee was $300, including all 4 samples. The client’s statement that the room was not inspected or tested was not based on fact, as was her date of inspection, or the fee that she claimed to have paid. I verified these facts by reviewing the laboratory test results, my inspection report, and the client’s inspection payment receipt. The client had stated that rain water from a storm that had occurred in September, had entered the Arizona room from beneath the door that led out to the back yard, and she stated that the moisture may have resulting in a Mold issue. The visual inspection of the Arizona room indicated no visible presence of moisture or Mold, but this was not surprising, since the client stated that she had cleaned the area after the intrusion. In spite of the fact that there no visible cues… with a landscape grade that was about 1½” below the grade of the top of the Arizona room floor, I concurred with the client that there might be a Mold issue contained within the wall(s). The “testing” that the client adamantly insisted that I do, was to cut multiple holes in the walls, exposing the wall cavities, and possibly resulting in the release of any Mold contamination that might be contained within. I refused to do so. I explained that since they renters, I could not damage the rental property without permission of the owner, or I could be held liable and/or have my contractor’s license revoked. I tried to explain that this type of destructive sampling required advanced planning, the use of specialized equipment, and the donning of personal safety protection... but the client’s became short and began talking over me. I warned them not to disturb the wall cavities, and that doing so, might release Mold spores into the open air, which could result in cross contaminating the inside of the home. I offered to make the necessary arrangements to conduct destructive testing, but I informed them that I would need the home owner’s approval in writing. They said they would discuss it and let me know, but I never heard back from them. The clients states in her review that the husband decided to conduct a “do it yourself” Mold remediation for $100. Let me put this price into perspective....A new cabinet would be required, he would have required an air scrubber, and then the cost of fungicide, personal protection equipment, plumbing repairs/reinstallation, drywall repairs, texture, primer, paint, reinstall the counter top, followed by caulking. The question that I have is “with the cost of a Zip Wall Containment System being $139.00, used to capture and contain the released Mold contaminants, and thereby preventing the cross contamination of the indoor air, how was he able to do a proper Mold remediation for $100?” The answer is that he couldn't.I have spoken to the client, since receiving the review. She stated that they were in litigation…and during her fits of yelling, aggressively talking over me, and before hanging up…she stated that the “Mold test only” company had in fact cut into the Arizona room walls and found “massive amounts of Mold”. Not only that, but the air handler and the indoor air were so heavily contaminated, that they had to move. Upon my questioning, the client unwittingly confirmed my suspicions that the company that “only mold testing” had conducted the destructive testing by cutting into the Arizona room walls without using the required equipment and procedures, which obviously led to the cross contamination of the Arizona room, the air handler and the indoor air. The client would like Angie's List members to believe that the "Mold test only" company that caused this disaster, is a better choice than myself...a properly trained, experienced and PhD certified Mold inspector and Mold remediation technician, who possesses a State of Arizona Contractors License, and has successfully performed mold inspection and remediation projects for over 15 years, and has done so in such extreme areas as medical practices and a hospital operating room that is used for heart transplants.

This year I discovered two areas of mold contamination in two different rooms. I called Moldex to get an estimate done and he was able to come out quickly. Daryl Choby was helpful, personable, and tested several areas of visible mold and then tested the air in the house in a few locations. Soon after he began working and all areas were nicely closed off by Daryl so there was no contamination. Overall the process took a few days and the process was very tidy and the mold is gone. The texture on the walls is a close match to the original and it is hard to tell that we had contamination at all. I would definitely recommend Moldex in the future and if I ever have to call him again I will.
Description of Work: Took samples and tested mold in two rooms, then he did the necessary demolition, disposal, remediation, decontamination, deep cleaned the walls. Area was quarantined and dried out during process. Afterwards wall was entirely repaired including texture and paint.

Daryl was very helpful and responsive to our needs throughout the entire process. He was punctual and courteous during each of his visits and took ample time to answer all our questions to our satisfaction not only while on site, but also before/after the work was performed via email and phone. He completed the work as agreed to, which has resulted in a complete elimination of the original mold problem that we contacted Moldex about. Daryl?s even came back an extra time after the job was completed to re-verify that the mold was eliminated by taking another air sample. Overall, we are very satisfied and would recommend Moldex to others.
Description of Work: Upon moving into our new house, we notice an earthy/musty odor in some rooms. Moldex pinpointed location of mold odor, which was coming from underneath the air handler. Daryl then took sample of the surface mold to determine amount and type present, and took air multiple samples to assess resulting contamination in different areas. Daryl diagnosed the problem and recommended course of treatment, which including remediating structure and platform underneath air handler, and disassembling air handler to eliminate mold from its interior.

Darly was incredible and I am healthier for the work he did. I have been suffering from sinus issues and constant infections for the past 7 months. I was unable to breath at night so my sleep was always disturbed. I called Daryl out of desperation and concern for my health and my husband's health. After all the work was completed I have not had a sinus infection or any sinus issues. I sleep great and wake up refreshed. I should have done this much sooner! The work Daryl completed is amazing, you can tell it was done by a perfectionist. It is not only functional, it looks great!!!!
