Dr. Scholten is by far the best vet I have ever worked with in my 20 years of doing dog rescue. This is not a job for him or a way to make a buck, he is passionate about what he does and is genuinely engaged in his workplace. His staff reflects the same charismatic demeanor. The building is new, well-designed, and laid out in a pet friendly manner.. His knowledge is amazing, and I appreciate the fact that he bases his decisions on what is in the best interest of the pet....not what makes us as humans feel better. I had an 12 year old dalmatian left behind by a family that could not be taken due to her health; I thought I should put her down....she just looked like she had had enough.. He took additional time examining her, rather than doing a dozen x-rays, he did one to determine what was going on with her and gauge her quality of life. He felt if she were cared for properly and given the prescribed medication, she could perhaps have 6 months to a year left to live.He was absolutely correct. We hospiced her for 9 months until she passed away. I respect the fact that Dr. Scholten is mindful of not ordering a battery of tests and bloodwork simply for the sake of racking up a bill; he orders only the diagnostic tests that provide him the information necessary to diagnose what is necessary. His insight and empathy are unrivaled in my opinion and he has never once rushed an appointment which makes me and the dogs I bring in -feel valued. I began by bringing in a few of our difficult dog cases from the rescue; but now have switched vets for my own personal dogs. He is always prompt, and I am not left to wait in a room for 30 minutes as I was my last vet. His staff is first rate and it's due to the fact they mirror the man they work for.
The professionals who donate their time to speak for the voices of those who can't are genuinely to be admired. But Dr. Scholten has sincerely changed the lives of abandoned animals that would not have otherwise had a second chance. I would not trust my animals to anyone else.

They saved our dog's life. This fever is very serious, even people die from it. There are two different types of medicines, which are not cheap. They took care of him and saved his life. They also saved the life of my cat some years ago because he was allergic to some shots. He now gives them in stages and are very careful with his allergic reactions. They were absolutely great. The price covers the whole time my dog was sick, including the medicines, the several tests they did, and the emergency visits. They were wonderful.

I have used Heritage Vet for a while now and have never had a complaint. They kept my cat overnight for an IV of antibiotics and then sent me home with some as well. They were gentle, kind and caring to the poor scared cat and I truly appreciate their work. I already have referred friend to them.
