A couple weeks after we approved the design, Heritage Vine began the work. This involved the following.
1. Remove the existing bench from the arch where the cellar will be placed.
2. Remove the partial travertine tiles that abbutted the bench.
3. Remove the drywall from the walls and ceiling of the arch.
4. Install vapor barrier surrounding entire arch.
5. Install ductwork for climate control system.
6. Install new drywall, spackle, sand, and paint.
7. Install new, full size travertine tiles to match existing flooring.
8. Hone and polish new travertine tiles to match existing flooring.
9. Install climate control system.
10. Install racking and trim.
11. Install glass walls and doors.
Heritage Vine had one or more people here every day of the project, performing most of the work. They built the racking themselves in their Tempe shop and assembled it on site. Their team also did all of the demolition, drywall and tile installation. For the parts of the work that they did not do, themselves, they managed the subcontractors for glass, climate control, and travertine polishing. Everyone involved was entirely professional and friendly. The work was done quickly and cleaned up at the end of each day.
The result is a beautiful wine cellar that we are happy to use and proud to show off to our friends.
