Mike was difficult to reach and then rarely called back when he said that he would. (His wife was more responsive and suggested that I always call her). It also was difficult to get Mike to commit to a time to come give an estimate, and then for a time to do the work. But after some prodding and negotiating, Mike came over on a Sunday morning to do the work, which was nice. Then there seemed to be one problem after the next: how to set the ladder to reach the stairway ceiling, knowing the location of studs/trusses, cutting a hole in the ceiling in the wrong place, and bringing fixtures that were too big. Mike is a nice, conscientious guy; he made good by repairing the hole cut in the wrong place. Overall though, I concluded that he is prepared to do just basic work that he is familiar with and assumes/hopes that's want you will find acceptable. He doesn't seem good at anticipating problems, or adjusting to your actual needs or unexpected problems.
