Eric seemed like a really nice guy, however he is not a very good handy man. When I was at work he moved all my appliances back into their spot and never cleaned up the mud on my new floor. Any time I spilled something the mud from underneath the appliances came out all over my floor. All the cabinets he hung were not done right, there are spaces where they should be touching. He also left a piece of wood hanging from behind the cabinet. None of the new baseboards were painted. He also installed a backyard double door. Somehow he broke something and only one door will open. I paid 1400 for this double door. He really tries to hide all his mistakes. Stay away from Eric the handyman.

We hired Eric to redo our master shower after a recommendation from a friend. We discovered issues immediately with this work and had him come back to fix a few things. His “fixes” were worse than his original work. Less than 2 months after he completed the job we noticed our baseboards were rotting from water leaks and we constantly had standing water in our shower. I reached out to Eric to let him know that we weren’t happy with his work and wanted him to refund a portion of what we paid him. I supplied several photos showing him the results of his work, including the rotting baseboards. He responded that he doesn’t do refunds and he would fix whatever needed fixing. I responded we weren’t satisfied with his fixes and we wanted some money back to hire someone to fix his work. He then became very unprofessional with his responses and I at that time let it go. We are just now in the process of redoing the shower again at our cost with another company. This was a total redo…the entire shower had to be demoed and we had to start from scratch again. This is a list of what Eric left behind. - Tile installed incorrectly (half the tiles were installed the wrong direction) - Cracked grout throughout (his fix was to smear yellowish caulking on my bright white tile) - Broken tile (yes…he installed a broken wall tile) - Chipped tile (he tried to cover up with white epoxy paint) - Step over not installed correctly and would never drain water (he came back to fix by sanding down the metal edging and I believe that’s when he chipped the tile mentioned above, it still didn’t drain properly) - Shower pan (we paid $700 for this pan) was installed incorrectly causing floor to “flex” and grout to crack and leak water (caused rotted baseboards outside of shower) - Floor tile not installed properly causing water to never fully drain - Drain pipe not glued to sewer pipe (all of the dirt below the subfloor was wet from drainage over the past year) - Shower faucet/drain installed off center - Shower head not installed correctly (loose behind the tile) - Tile behind shower handle mechanism cut too big and not sealed, allowing water to get behind tile - Exhaust fans not installed properly, insulation drops on our floor every time we run them - Insulation not replaced in attic after drywall work was completed - Wall patching/texturing needed to be sanded down and redone - Wall he painted in bathroom needed a second coat and edges cleaned up

It went well, but had to terminate project as other activity was required inside the wall.

Im going to give you the full story so I apologize on this being lengthy however I feel as though all details should be explained and hopefully I can prevent this from happening to another consumer!

My boyfriend and I just bought our first house and we have so much we want to do to it. We are fairly young ( 24 & 25 ) and had no idea where to begin so naturally we turned to our parents for advice, my mom specifically. My moms husband happen to have a family friend or someone that he has known for over 10 years that he recommended to us.

Eric Mills or "Eric the Handyman" Met us at our new house for a little consult, or as he said "A job interview". Im assuming my moms hubby told him that we a had a ton of little projects we needed help with so he seemed very interested. We walked him through our empty house and discussed some little visions we had from re finishing cabinets to installing new appliances, changing  fixtures to hopefully changing our flooring one day. The first and most important project to my boyfriend was hanging up our new TV over the fireplace which we were concerned about not having studs in the wall. He said that he actually had time today to do so and went to gather his tools after agreeing on a price  ($100). My mom and step dad left and my boyfriend and I watched him do the entire job for about an hour. We were impressed not only at his work with the tv but he was also hilarious and a really nice guy! We were pumped at how the tv and soundbar turned out and payed him and he was on his way. We thought we found our man! our handyman that is. We were stoked that we would have someone to help us turn our house into our dream house and loved that he was enjoyable to be around.

We ended up purchasing brand new beautiful Kitchenaid applianced at the Labor Day sale at Home depot. We ended up getting a new dishwasher, range, and hood. We mentioned to Eric that we wanted a hood and he goes okay cool where is it going to vent out of? Quickly slapping my 24 year old self back to reality lol. I have a vision but I don't always think things through. I thought you just hung the bad boy up!  He said he would have to cut a hole and make a vent so once the hood was installed it would actually ventilate out of the house. I ended up having a last minute business trip to London and my boyfriend works 60 hours a week and we wanted to get this done asap. STUPIDLY we trusted Eric to Install this while we were not home. We wouldn't have done this with a random guy but given the history with him and my step dad and our interaction with him the first time we met him we trusted him. And we don't have much in the house so we locked up our important stuff in our safe but we were not to worried.

Eric came to install on September 12th. When my boyfriend got home he came home to a bit of a mess. Allot of dry wall dust everywhere and fingerprints all over the hood and appliances. Just over all a sloppy job. As he looked closer he noticed huge scratches on top of our brand new never been cooked on stove top! It looked as though he set the hood down right on top of it and scratched it all up. Also multiple little dents on the hood. AGAIN THESE ARE BRAND NEW AND NOT CHEEP! I woke up in London to photos and I about cried. Im not sure what exactly happened as he is not taking responsibility but anyone that is running a handy man business should be more careful when dealing with a clients property and should most definitely take ownership of this. Although he claimed the scratches were not caused by him he said that he would come over and " fix the scratches". Again we work like crazy so my mom went over to meet him. We were also extremely upset so it was best that my mom dealt with him. I received photos of the "fixed job" and was still not impressed as it is still scratched up and whatever he used to buff it made a different type of scratch and weird smudges that won't clean off. The hood has so many nicks and scratches as well like he just didn't care about what he was doing at all. We asked for him to replace this and he said absolutely not it is not his responsibility.  Poor business if you ask me and horrible customer service. We are trying to figure out a solution currently but please people DO NOT TRUST THIS MAN. Accidents happen every day and I understand that but  the way he has handled this is wrong and something needs to be done. TAKE OWNERSHIP. I also have text messages from him being argumentative pointing out the type of car that my boyfriend drives implying that money isn't an object. Well guess what Eric money does not grow on trees and regardless of the fact that we own a home and have one decent car does not give you the right to destroy our things? Who says that kind of stuff anyway? We work hard for what we have and worked hard to buy the appliances that are now damaged! Looks like we will have to find a new contractor to help us with our renovations.

I have before and after photos as well that I will attach if possible.

I live in an old house. I am sure the toilets haven't been replaced in fifty years. Replacing them immediately had become a necessity. We had called one company and they said they could not remove the toilets, claiming it was a very involved task. The plumber believed the toilets had been cemented in, and they could not remove them.  Both in frustration and because members of my family had prior experience with Eric The Handyman, I called him.
Eric came ready to work, took a look at both toilets and told me he didn't think they were cemented in, and he would try to pull out one toilet and checked.  I am very appreciative of the work. He pulled out the other toilets as well, added fresh sealant and installed the toilets without damage to my walls or tiled floors. Eric saved me hundreds of dollars.
Oh, Eric did several other jobs as well. All done in four hours.
Thank you Eric!
