Kevin reached out within a couple hours to get a design appointment set up. He and another employee arrived exactly on time for the design appointment. They viewed the closet we wanted completed with the deal purchased on Angie's List and put together a design option that we were able to sign off on immediately. They did offer us a couple days to review, but the design that was presented was better than we had even thought we could get for the space so it was an easy 'YES!'. Just 8 business days later, and earlier than I had anticipated, the closet was ready for install. Kevin again reached out to notify me that the closet was ready and the install team could come out the following day. The installers arrived about 10 minutes prior to the quoted time (love that they were early) and were able to get it completed pretty swiftly. Overall, I am very happy with the closet layout and installation. I would feel very comfortable requesting additional work from them and do highly recommend!

It turned out great. They came in and measured at the end of December or early January and then they ordered the stuff and they came back and installed it probably mid January. The cost was double the big deal price because the big deal was just for really basic stuff. Once I started really evaluating what it was, I was like, "Okay. If I want to do this, I better have deeper shelves and better hardware for the drawers and some other little things." Detailed work, not just basic stuff that would go into a closet. What they did was well done. My biggest frustration was that all they wanted to do was just the closet. To me, when you've got someone in your house doing work like that I was like, "Okay. I'm really going to pay you to do some other work." I was like, "Do you know a guy who does electrical work? Lets put a light in my closet" and "Who do you know who does doors? Lets put some doors on that thing." They just wanted to put in the shelves and the hanger rods. It was just like a basic 3Dsoftware that the guy did, took some measurements, punched in design into his software and then output components and then came in and installed it. That was great. It was just limited. The guy just didn't want to do more than just the guts of the closet. To me, if you're going to be a closet guy, you can do the closet doors, you can do the lighting. You've got to know some people. You've got to be able to do it all and he didn't want to do it all.

After being convinced to "upgrade" the reach-in's from the Angie's List deal, and canceling the Angie's List deal, the closets were installed. Two reach-in closets and one small walk-in closet, for a total job cost well more than double the Angie's List deal. We were promised a better product for the reach-in closets than the Angie's List deal and a custom installation of a small walk-in closet. We regret doing business with them. The materials are cheap and low quality, and the workmanship is shoddy and incorrect. Mistakes made: The wrong hardware was used; the wrong trim was used in several places, some shelves were supported by scrap trim pieces and not the proper shelve supports, the fitment of the shelving sides to the wall was poor with large gaps not covered by trim. There were two types of trim used in the same closets (flat trim in some places and quarter round in others when either type would have covered the gaps sufficiently). Several shelves and sidings were not plumb and/or level. Each of the three closets had major installation issues. Material quality: The pre-painted surfaces have a very cheap feel and look. The color we chose was not as represented in the brochure. The installers were poorly trained, and showed no skill as installers whatsoever. Three times we had them come out to fix problems, and the issues were not properly addressed and the proper trim to fix the mix-matching was constantly "on backorder". We finally gave up, and we are living with these crummy closets until we can afford to have them torn out and redone by a reputable and skilled company. I was pressured very hard by the owner to cancel the Angies List deal I purchased for the two reach-in closets, as we were promised upgrades. The "upgrade" turned out to be about an inch of shelve depth. For this we paid a steep premium, and more importantly, we lost the Angie's List deal protection. I feel like the owner pressured us into canceling the Angie's List deal because of the low profit margin on the Angie's List deal and more importantly to be relieved of the Angie's List deal guaranty. We were bait-and-switched. I would gladly have paid double the price, or even more, for well-fitted, quality material closets. Stay away. update: None of the blame-games in Closet Tailors response can explain away incorrect trim, un-level shelving, missing trim, trim that is miss-cut and protruding past the shelving and other defects. I canceled the third trip back because I had no faith in a positive outcome based on the previous two attempts to fix gross installation errors. I wish customers could post photos. Best of luck sir.

Wow, where do I begin? I will be a brief as possible. You had us come out to design 3 closets. You mentioned you were Angie's list members as asked about the $295 closets for reach in closets. After you were told the basics for that closet you decided you wanted to upgrade to 14" deep material (12" is the package standard) and you wanted to add drawer and other things. We explained that all Angie's List member will receive an additional 20% off any design we do. We quoted and a few days later your wife ordered over the phone. I explained we needed to collect a deposit prior to placing the cut order at the mill. She said she was in a hurry and would sign the invoice and have a deposit check ready for me the next morning and wanted me to go ahead and place the order, which I did. The next morning she did not have the check for me but insisted it was her mistake and the check was written and we could make arrangements to meet later. This went on for a few days until I saw that you purchased the $295 closets on Angie's list and said that would cover what we designed and ordered for you (which it didn't come close to covering). We went back a forth a few times and you told me to cancel the orders with the mill which you knew I couldn't do. You forced me to take another $100 off the job to not cancel. We preformed the work and you weren't happy with some trim so I told you I would order new trim and be in touch when it was in. I scheduled to come out and replace the trim and the night before we were scheduled you sent me a nasty email and told me you were going to rip out the systems and use someone else. This was in June of 2014. On December 4th I received an email from your wife that she wanted to have us come out with the new trim and I agreed to do it. I told her I would have to check to see if we still have the trim that we ordered for you back in June and it not it would be a few weeks. We did not have it so I ordered it. We received it on the 23rd so I have you on our schedule to call and get the work done. On Christmas eve you decided to rewrite the review you gave us and change all the grades to "F's". I guess this means you now don't want the trim. You knew you wanted much more than what the basic closet package on Angie's List provided and received an extremely fair price for the upgraded closets with the extra 20% off as an Angie's List Member. Then convinced me that the deposit check was written so I would get the cut ordered processed knowing that after 24 hours I couldn't cancel it. Then you would purchase the basic packages on Angie's List and wanted to use those as payments for the other closets. This to me sounds a lot like extortion. Now you just want to complain about what ended up being very nice closets. I'm sorry you feel the way you do but I don't appreciate your tactics. Have a nice life.

I had an extra large reach-in closet customized with built-ins. Kevin arrived promptly for the scheduled appointment. He created a design for the closet which my husband and I approved. We asked Kevin to incorporate a tie hanger, which he did. Based on what we wanted, it only cost a small amount extra. Kevin and his helper arrived a few weeks later to install the closet. It looks beautiful and has created more space than we thought possible. |

We had a wonderful experience and highly recommend this vendor. From initial consultation through construction and follow-up, there was great attention to detail. Kevin Kinney listened to us describe our needs and provided designs for each closet that met them perfectly. His construction crew kept things tidy throughout the process and all we had to do once they finished was hang our clothes and figure out what to put where with the bonus storage space that magically emerged!

Purchased a closet Angie's list Big deal but ended up spending more on the closet due to my expanding the scope of the work. I needed some very specific things in order to make my daughter's closet workable and Closet Tailors did a great job. It wa more money than I had originally intended to spend, but I knew that what I needed probably exceeded the coupon cost and was happy with the end results.

We recently had Closet Tailors come to our home for a Angie's List Big Deal coupon pantry upgrade. They did an amazing job! Kevin the owner came to our home on a Saturday measured the space worked with my wife and incorporated all of here needs and wants. He definitely went above and beyond what the coupon had stated and the level of finished is top notch. It has been such a pleasure working with Kevin that we had him come back a few months later and design a system for our garage. Again Kevin came out on a Saturday, spent over 2 hours working with the space and our storage needs and developed a great looking and functional system for our garage. No cluttered floors anymore. I would highly recommend working with Closet Tailors again. If you want the job done right the first time and a company to stand behind the work I would chose Closet Tailors.

Kevin came out to do an initial consult/measurement and gave us some suggestions. Quickly sent us a CAD drawing of the design from several angles. We scheduled a time for them to drop off a rack and demolish the existing shelves and then perform the work. It took a few hours for the demo and a little more than 1/2 a day for the install/clean-up.
Description of Work: We took advantage of an Angie's List deal to have an organizer system installed in our Master Bedroom Closet (approx 10x6). Kevin was on-time and the finished product is excellent. The only thing I regret is not doing more general research before buying the deal. I did not realize how expensive these systems are. We installed shelves against one 6' wall, a combo of shelves and drawers, 2 upper/lower hanging racks and 2 full height hanging racks. We were concerned about losing space, but it swallowed up all our existing clothing and there's still storage room. All in all we are very satisfied.

I got the BIG Deal they were offering for a organizing a pantry. They ripped out the old ugly pantry I had, installed the new adjustable shelving system, and prepped it for paint. He cleaned up absolutely everything . It looks much better and the organization capability is much improved with the modular design. Kevin Kinney was on top of things. I ordered it on Thursday, he came out on Friday to verify the job, by following Thursday it was installed. I just need to paint it today. That will take about 30 minutes. The only thing I have to complain about it is that Agie's list did some false advertising. The shelving system in the picture looked nothing like what I got. For the price, I think it was still decent though.

I had a coupon and I contacted the cabinet maker. The cabinet maker then contacted me and said that he won't work on closets less than 8ft. Then I said that I had 2 closets and that combined would be more than 8ft. When he came I expected that he would do a god work. When he finished the work, it was just teak boards going up and I had to do the painting by myself. Then I had to hunt for teak boards and put in up by myself. I was very disappointed. It did not look like the fixture they showed me and the fixture that they had showed me looked like real professional work and what I got was very cheap. I would not use them again in the future. The disappointment was that I had seen the fixture and I didn't realize that I wouldn't be getting the fixtures.

Dear Member, I am surprised to see the negative review. You mentioned that you used my company back in November but that is not the case. This installation of 3 closets is the 1st work we have even done for you and had never had any contact with you prior to your purchase of the $199 Angie's List Big Deal Certificate. Your complaint seems to be mainly for 3 items: 1, Not getting what you expected 2. System made of "teak" boards 3. Having to paint yourself When you 1st contacted me you did not know what you had purchased because you did not read the information section of the Angie's "Big Deal." I explained that it was good for closets up to 8' in length. When we met a few days later and I measured your closet and it was only 54" wide (4 1/2'). You told me you had a second closet the same size so I suggested to do them both for the $199 Angie's List Certificate you purchased. We sat at your kitchen table where I loaded the closet dimensions into my CAD system and showed you a proposed design that I would build in both closets at no additional cost to you. I showed you a sample of the white melamine product that would be used and you approved the work and the material (the information section of the Angie's List Certificate states that white Melamine is used). You also had me measure a 3rd closet for shelves. I made another design proposal for that closet and you like it so I gave you a quote of $100 and you approved that work as well. We scheduled the work and I returned on May 12th. The cost of the closets (total was $299) included the removal and disposal of the existing system, scraping and spackling the walls and returning them to a "paint ready" condition (this was all in writing in the information section of the Angie's List Big Deal Certificate). 2 of the closets has approximate 4" x 12" areas that had no drywall behind the closet system boards that were removed. This was not expected but I repaired both of these areas without bothering you for extra consideration. The rest of the job went smooth and I finished in approx 6 1/2 hours rather than the 4 hours I had expected. During the installation you made several positive comments to me and after the installation and clean-up you seem very happy with the closets. We even had some small talk and you recommend a good restaurant close by for lunch. After our initial meeting at your house you had seen the desgins in 3D, you saw a sample of the white melamine we use for the Angie's List Big Deal. Since you hadn't read about your purchase on the Angie's list site I covered everything including bringing the walls back to a "paint ready" condition so only minor touch up would be necessary. So back to your 3 main issues: 1. Not getting what you expected response: You approved the designs on my CAD in 3D - You did not read the Big Deal info section so you had no idea what you were getting until I informed you. I met with you and created a 3D design for your consideration. You approved this. You could have asked Angie's List for a credit rather than proceeding. 2. System made of "teak" boards response: You saw a sample of the double sided 3/4" white melamine that we used for all 3 closets. I don't know what you mean with "teak" boards. You got exactly what you were shown and what is called out in the certificate. 3. Having to paint yourself resonse: You didn't read the info before purchasing the system and I covered this with you as I do during all consultations. You knew up front that touch up paint would be required on your behalf. Based on everything I just covered I stand on my opening comment, "I am surprised to see the negative review." As an Angie's list vendor our reviews are extremely important to us. I wish you had talked to me during the installation if you had concerns but I honestly don't know what I could have done differently. 3 custom closets, demolition and disposal of existing systems, wall repair, 3/4" thick white double sided melamine, polished chrome hang rods, 6 1/2 hours installation time, full clean-up, all for $299. We are willing to do the Angie's List Big Deals at or below cost (in this case well below actual cost) with the hopes of gaining new clients and getting positive reviews. I failed on both parts of this equation with you and am really amazed. Best Regards
Arthur L.

I searched for contractors on three referral sites (including Angie's List) and Kevin returned my call immediately. We booked an appointment for the following day and Kevin brought his laptop computer so we could explore design alternatives using his design software. He emailed me a quote, including 3-dimensional drawings, two days later. We were both busy the following week, so we scheduled demo and installation two-weeks out. Kevin did the site prep on the first day in less than two hours. I painted the closet walls and ceiling later that day and Kevin returned the following day to install the closet system. Installation went very smoothly--you can tell he knows what he's doing. Installation took about 2 1/2 hours and he left the area spotless. I couldn't be happier with the outcome. Kevin takes pride in his work and it shows!
Description of Work: Kevin designed, fabricated, and installed custom storage system for a small walk-in closet that had been formerly used as a photography darkroom. Work including removing and disposing of old shelving, patching wallboard, and patching drywall around capped plumbing lines.
