I hired Arizona Going Green to conduct an energy audit on my home. My experience with them was awful. They created a huge mess in my home when they failed to block off the fireplaces during the blower door test and large amounts of soot were sucked into my home from the fireplaces. Numerous pieces of furniture in several rooms, as well as a large area rug, were covered in soot and needed professional cleaning. All hard surfaces in much of my home were also covered with soot, including tile floors, cabinets, wood furniture, woodwork, counter tops, etc. At the time of the incident, Al at Going Green promised to pay for the cleaning services necessary to get rid of the soot. I paid $240 to have upholstered furniture cleaned and I also paid $495.31 to have an 11? x 14? Persian rug cleaned. Although Going Green reimbursed the $240 bill (but only after several "reminders" were needed to prompt the payment) and promised on many occasions to reimburse the $495.31 bill, they ultimately refused to reimburse that expense. Angie?s list members are forewarned and should beware of dealing with Arizona Going Green.

Response from Arizona Going Green
[member name removed] was paid IN FULL even though the invoice for the "persian rug" cleaning that he gave us for reimbursement was in someone else's name AND the company that he took it to have it cleaned had no record of him. Our insurance company refused to re-imburse him after looking at the evidence and the receipt he gave us--and we shared this with him. It was only we compensated him fully for his first set of "damages", that he came back to us with "oh, and the Persian rug" --almost as if he felt like seeing how much he could get from us.. When we balked at the rug cleaning and the amount and the fact that he didn't have an invoice in his name, he made multiple threats to post bad things about us on Angie's list and BBB (which he followed through on). When we took it to back to our insurance company they refused to honor his claim. He continued to make threats, so we went ahead and finally paid him out of our own pockets. Contractors beware, we did a little investigation after the very aggressive and threatening way [member name removed] handled this situation -- and this was not like dealing with a normal customer-- we believe he is (or used to be) a lawyer from Illinois who has a history of suing for damages and now lives here in the valley. In all of our years working in Arizona and after performing Energy Audits on more than 6,000 homes, we have never had a customer like this guy.... or a claim for "damages" like this. Be careful. This is a customer I wish we had said "NO" to...

Bob arrived at the scheduled time. He was friendly, knowledgeable and asked me questions. He did a very thorough job. He used a fan system that pressurized the house so that air leaks could be discovered. I walked through the house with him while he showed me hot spots with his thermal camera. I discovered the spotty coverage of the insulation in the ceiling. Bob also showed me the pressure differences between rooms when the doors are shut and how this makes extra work for the AC system. At the end of the audit, he took the time to go over his findings with me and gave me suggestions as to what I could do to make my house more energy-efficient. There was no pressure to get additional work done. He even showed my how I could easily add weather stripping to my front door myself. He didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need for my house. He said I will receive a detailed report from APS later. I added additional weather stripping to the front door as he suggested and plan on supplementing the insulation in the ceiling of my house. It was great to get my house examined from head to toe by an expert!
Description of Work: Arizona Going Green did a $99 in-home energy audit of my house.
