The next day, they came to do the work. When Kevin was done, he left a bottle of shock and said he would be back to put in the shock and finish sealing the deck/tiles. He was supposed to be out the next day, but never showed up. Then, he said he would be out "tomorrow" and again didn't show up. This went on for over a week.
My regular pool service guy came out and left me a note that he had to put 5 bags of shock in the pool (which was Kevin's responsibility), that my salt level was low to none and that I had a leak. When I asked Kevin about it, he told me that he was sorry he didn't get the chemicals in, but that the salt wasn't included. I told him I was frustrated and that I couldn't understand why he wouldn't have appropriately charged me to get my pool back up and running properly. I know that he knew I had a salt water pool, because he told me my regular pool technicians were not properly maintaining the salt cell.
In a text, he told me that since it was an oversight on his part, he would split the cost of the salt at his cost, $27.50. So, after verifying with my regular pool service that there was no charge for the extra work they had to do (which I explained everything in detail to them and they were kind enough to comp the shock, even though they didn't have to), I accepted Kevin's offer. So, for the next week, Kevin promised he would come take care of the salt, bring me the auto-lelveler lid, that had not been given to me the day the work was done (which he blamed his contractors for that), and he would adjust the water level, which was too low (which may have been why my pool technicial thought there was a leak. I'm still not sure). Several times, he said he would be over "tomorrow" and never showed up. Then, through a text, he promised he would be here "tomorrow" (June 30th). I sent him a text that morning and he said he would be here in the late afternoon. Then, in the late afternoon, he contacted me to tell me he couldn't make it! At that point, I finally got mad! I told him he needed to be over by 10AM today (Jul 1st) or my patience would end. He told me that since I was micromanaging him that I could take care of my own salt and that it isn't his problem "if you can't lean down and turn the screw and raise the float."
I told him that if he didn't perform the work that he had promised that I would contact the BBB, Yelp, Angie's List and the Arizona Contractor's Association (which is actually called Arizona Registrar of Contractors). He said, "that's fine tell the world" in his text to me. He also said, "i am not in the lest bit concerned." Those are direct quotes from his texts to me. I should have checked first, but he is not registered with the BBB and is not a registered contractor. Lesson learned!
I'm writing this in the hopes that people will see this and not have to go through what I went through. It is the absolute worst experience I have ever had with a company and left me shaking and crying out of frustration!
