They were prompt about returning phone calls and showing up on time. They got the work done in the time frame they said they would and that was really good. I wasn't really thrilled with the work that they did which was messy. One thing we really didn't like is that the owners had asked for a light-colored rock for the front yard but they ended up getting dark and the contractor wouldn't change it when I found out the problem so we had to go for the dark rock. They didn't communicate anything to us. They were supposed to put in a new controller boxy but I don't see any controller box. They didn't show us how to work with the controller box. They didn't leave any information so we're gonna have to call them again. They told me the first day that they'd be here at 8 but they didn't show up till 9:30.

Fair price. Does exactly what he said he would do. Great communication and A+ from me. Nick got back to me right away. Very professional.

Nick began caring for my lawn on April 10, 2012 and continued to care for my lawn on a weekly basis until July 25, 2012. In that time, my lawn went from lush and well-tended to absolute squalor. When first hired, I explained to Nick that I needed someone reliable and trustworthy to get the work done without constant instruction or concern for additional expense (e.g., if the lawn needs fertilizer... just do it without asking) as we are out of the country for significant periods of time. To make a long story short... I had to chase Nick up to get stuff done that should be a "no-brainer" and was included in the service I paid for (e.g., weed control, trimming) and the lawn began to die right before my eyes. The last straw came when I had someone else look take a look at the lawn and irrigation system. Nick had previously told me he had increased the water being given to the lawn. It turned out, and was corroborated  by subsequent conversation with Nick, that he had increased the lawn watering to 12 min once per day!!! This is in JULY in PHOENIX, ARIZONA!! I just have to wonder what he increased it from?! In three months, Nick effectively destroyed my lawn to a state of embarrassment.

Nick has been routinely clearing my empty lot and saving me from HOA violations since June of 2008.  Nick is honest and gets the job done quickly and at a fair price.  If my primary residence wasn't located in far North Phoenix (out of Nick's service area), Nick would be maintaining the landscaping for my home as well.

Needed a trench for a sewer pipe.  They have a trencher with a 36" reach, so seemed like a good idea to have them do the bulk of the trenching . . . about 100 linear feet.  They showed up exactly as expected (it looked like it might rain, so they showed up early!) and were prepared to work.  That was the last thing that went well.  The trench was shallow at first and the machine had no trouble.  As the trench got deeper, they needed to make multiple passes to get the full depth, but they didn't bother removing the accumulated dirt from under the left hand wheel of the trencher, so the trench was sharply diagonal, not straight down.  Because of the level of the machine, they went way off the line (sewer pipe is not flexible).  At the last big corner, they made a 45 degree cut as planned.  Driving over the existing right-angle trenches to make this 45 degree cut caused all of the trenches to fill completely with dirt.  You could hardly tell they had been trenched at all.  I asked if they would dig the trenches out and they said I had just paid them to run the machine over the dirt, not dig out trenches.  They took my money and left me without any usable trenches.  I had to call the foundation-digging team off and have them do the trenches for me.  It took hours of work and the foundation fell behind schedule. 

Initially, everything was great.  Communication was good, timely, and friendly.  Estimate of work was provided and the work was scheduled within a reasonable amount of time.

The work was complete, however, there was no communication after the work to let me know it was completed.  It was difficult to tell as the hole was not filled in and the water to the irrigation system was left off.  Additionally, my wife surprised me by bringing in a lawn specialist to do a clean up etc.  He found additional real non-functional areas of the irrigation system - showed us how and where they didn't work prior to us having him fix it.  

I called Lucky Lawn Service to inquire as to the quality and completion of the service.  They gave me the technicians number to call unfortunately he wouldn't answer or return my call.  I don't consider good customer service by passing the buck and telling the customer to call someone else.  I gave up and didn't bother to call the company back, clearly, they didn't care.  But they did send the bill and yes, I just sent the payment.
