TruGreen Lawn Care - 5042

A national company that worked though call center. Pre-recorded messages are left on your phone. Had to speak to multiple people from around the nation about setting up service and they are not on the same page and don't know what is going on. The fertilizer, weed-control, and pest-control was okay. I did not notice a significant change in my lawn. The pest-control seemed to work. But the aeration which cost $200 was bad. There were a few holes in my lawn, only a 1/4 inch deep max!

The first year they did OK. The second year our lawn had a brownish cast to it all year. I talked to the technician (3X), called the company and talked to a manager, and it wasn't until September that they sent out a different manager to confirm there was a problem.

We originally had Scotts Lawn Service and did not know that they were bought out by TruGreen until we came home and found that they had visited and charged us. Over the course of a few weeks, we had many weeds and issues with our yard and after paying for 3 services we found out that at one point the service person had merely parked in front of our house and put a sign in our yard without performing service. We called and discontinued the service. The following week someone showed up at the door to perform service and we told them we had cancelled. Then the following week they showed up again when we weren't home and fertilized our lawn without our permission and tried to charge us another $62.00. The customer service has been very bad and we are worried that they won't leave us alone. We do not recommend this service.

Everything was fine until we had problems. Called and asked for grub treatment to eliminate armadillo food source. Was told they do not treat for armadillos. After further discussion about my treatment request, I was told that grub treatment was not included in my contract - I never received a copy of list of provided services, yet grub treatment is clearly listed on the web site list of Tru Health services. After getting through to a local manager, she agreed to provide grub treatment.
This spring, I had several dead patches in my year old zoysia sod. New hire technician didn't have a clue but called his supervisor who diagnosed "Zoysia spot" without looking at the lawn and said we needed a fungicide. I said OK. No mention of extra cost, but I soon received a $400 bill. After long discussion with a supervisor,I cancelled my service and refused to pay fungicide bill. Received several collection calls but none recently.
In a year we have had at least five technicians, only one of which seemed to know anything about horticulture. Gave several wrong answers to simple fertilization and planting questions. Technicians have left computer printed reports of service provided to include application of liquid nitrogen fertilizer at inappropriate times. Supervisor's response was that this fertilizer was not loaded into their tanks at that time - tech just hit the wrong key. Broadleaf weeds are much fewer than when they started, but nut sedge is rampant.
Tru Green is a typical national conglomerate driven more by profit than by customer service. When you finally get through the phone maze to someone with limited authority, you get bogus explanations, excuses, and canned apologies.

They do a good job of doing the grub work and keeping the moles out of my yard. They come out as soon as they can when it starts warming up. It really helps. As far as price-wise, other services are a lot better.

They have been reliable.

Level of service or results were not in line with paying a premium for their service. Rude and inconsiderate when I tried to complain about the results. Yard looks weedy after about six months of their services

We've had a contract for them about 5 years. They come when they say they will. They do a great job. They are prompt and consistent. They are friendly, cordial, and easy to deal with.

They apply all over the lawn. They will identify what is needed. They always go ahead and put on a fertilizer and weed killer. We had a drought for two months and my lawn is greener that most of the people around. I also had them put on something that was supposed to utilize less water, so It would help to hold its moisture longer. They identified I did have some bugs on bushes and they have treatment for your tree and bushes. They are very on top of things. When I call them, if there are a couple weeds, they would come back and treat them. They are always very reliable.

At first, it went well. If we had any issues, they were quick to respond and fix them. Then last year the service declined. By the spring of this year, our yard looked horrible. After firing them, their customer service was rude and they continued to call after we politely asked them not to. I will not use them again nor will I recommend the company.

We cancelled our yearlong service in oct. 2011 and one of their men came out the first part of Nov., saying we had one more treatment. so he applied what we thought  was a winterizing treatment. We were charged $34 for the treatment. By Jan 2012 out lawn looked worse than an empty field across the street. In fact ther were weed types that is not present in lot as far as the eye can see. Trugreen owes us for that nonexistant lawn treatment and the cost of repair of our lawn.. This is a housing development with uniform lawns on all the properties.  Our lawn looks worse now than at any time we lived here.  The lawn is burmuda grass that the developers rolled out.  I believe that last treatment was an act of vengence.

I absolutely refused to let them come back again though they have been calling me. If I was a person who liked a dead lawn then that would have been fine but I don’t know what I have got now besides dirt. By the end of summer the lawn looked worse than when they started. They were responsive because we cancelled them in the middle of summer. They kept coming back though I told them I am not paying for it. Now, they are calling in the spring to start all over again. They were professional but weren’t good.

Good service overall. Responds within 2 days to complaints when rain occurred on day of treatment. We have called 3 times this year and the company responded appropriately each time with reapplication of weed control and fertilization as required. With each treatment, the company leaves a form hanging on the door showing services rendered and conditions of the treatment. We called TruGreen after receiving a coupon in the mail offering a first treatment for $29.95 and free lawn analysis. We also had spring dead spot and wanted a diagnosis and treatment to remedy this unsightly condition. TruGreen recommended lime treatment and aeration at the time of the original estimate last spring. We declined both: the lime treatment because the soil did not need it and the aeration because it was going to be $100. I will probably rent an aerator next spring and do it myself.
