I contacted Jeff Pont with Interstate Mortgage based on the great reviews he had on a real estate website.  We were looking for a loan on a new home we were building in North Phoenix.  The builder steered us to their mortgage company and they were higher than average for rates and they were totally unresponsive and unpleasant to work with.  As bad as that experience was, the pendulum swung completely the other way in working with Jeff.  He and his processor, Cindy, were amazing.  Jeff was able to get us a rate that was at least half a percent lower than anyone else we were speaking with. We started working with him about 8 weeks before our scheduled closing date.  We were waiting until 30 days out to lock our loan rate.  He called us about 45-50 days out to tell us rates had dropped significantly and if we were interested in doing a 60 day lock, we could lock in at an even lower rate than he initially estimated with a 30 day lock.  We did so and at this time, we are at about .25% lower than we would have been had he waited until the 30 day point.  He found a company that offered great rates but was very particular about everything that you submit, especially on a new build.  He said he was willing to do that, however, since the rate was so much better.  Jeff did an unbelievable job with coordinating everything and getting the information that was needed.  He worked with our builders representatives to get required documentation and stayed right on top of everything.  There were days where we spoke no less than 5 times to make sure we were all moving in the right direction and getting what they needed.  He says he is available 24/7 and that is certainly true.  I had to leave a message only once because he was on an airplane, and he phoned me back as soon as he landed.  With all of the new regulations and requirements for mortgages, and how difficult the process is now, there is nobody I would recommend to work with more than Jeff and Cindy.
