Prescott Watch and Clock
About us
Prescott Watch and Clock was created to fill the need for quality watch and clock repair in in the Quad City area. Most people who take their watches to jewelry stores or Fix-it-Fast locations don't realize that their watch is sent out to sweat shops around the country to be worked on by unskilled technicians that may take weeks or months to complete. Adding insult to injury the jewelry stores will mark up the repair cost 100% to 200% for doing basically nothing. Clock repairs taken to jewelry stores are never repaired on-site and are sent out to be worked on in someones garage or basement with the jeweler again skimming a 100% to 200% markup for doing nothing but passing the work back and forth across his counter-top.

"Thank you. I've had some Grumpy Gus's lately so doing business with you was a pleasure. I do the best I can in a difficult profession."
"You brought me a difficult antique grandfather clock that nobody else in town could even begin to repair and I did even though it took a lot of labor and parts. I offered to deliver and set it up myself and you declined so we loaded it up into your pickup truck. The clock was perfect when it left my shop and the only thing that didn't work when you got it home was the pendulum. When you came by to complain about it I offered to come out to your home and make an adjustment but you declined. Then I suggested that you bring the clock back into my shop for an easy adjustment and again you declined. And for all of that I get a "D" rating?"
"I repaired the grandfather movement and set it up in your house and everything was perfect. Even though I discussed the price with your wife when I presented you the bill you had "that look" on your face. I've seen that "I'm not going to be happy with this" look before and I knew trouble was coming. Sure enough, a few weeks later you called to complain that the moon phase dial might not be clicking around so I said I would stop by when I could even though it is a small detail as most people never even pay attention to the moon phase. I tried to stop by on two occasions even though you live 60 miles from Prescott and your "compound" was locked up and the gate was closed, no one answering the phone. Then I got a call that you tried to fix the moon phase yourself and now the clock had stopped running. I tried to make another appointment and told your wife when I could come up but she called back and told me that you and her were going for a ride so you wouldn't be home. Alright then. Apparently it wasn't so important to get the clock fixed but it has been hugely important for you to blast me everywhere you can. Good for you. I hope you feel better. I'm not giving you a refund because the work I did was good and when a customer attempts to fix his clock himself my warranty expires immediately."
"Their was one light scuff, not a scratch on the front of the clock which I took care of on the spot with some oil based stain which may or may not have been there when the clock was brought in. None of the old clocks I work on are "perfect" and we do the best we can."
"Thank you for the very nice review [removed member name]. I always tell customers that clock repair takes time and this is not Walmart. Actually repairs would be much faster and cheaper if clock and watch owners would realize that ownership requires maintenance the same as an automobile or motorcycle instead of bringing me basket cases that have not been serviced in decades and then expecting me to work miracles which I see all the time. The other day I had a fellow in the shop who was actually proud of the fact that he had owned his grandfather clock for 40 years and had never had it serviced. Needless to say he was disappointed when I explained the cost and time it would take to bring the neglected clock back to life."
Upon arrival and inspection several problems were found that required for the movement and chimes be taken back to the shop and repaired. The clock was delivered and assembled and this clock has never run so good. Derick was very professional and through and very knowledgeable. I would recommend him for anyone else and I will use his services again when needed.
"Thank you for your very kind words [member name removed]. Please feel free to call if you have any problems with your very old and wonderful tall case clock. I sure enjoyed working on it."
