Hair Salons/Barbers
Sylist listens to what customer requests, and adjusts cut accordingly. Retouches wherever I requested. Went very well.

Fast..., she met me at the door, we talked about what I wanted, washed my hair, and cut, styled and out within 40 min.! And a great cut!

Cheryl is a real professional, fun and nice. She quickly diagnosed the correct color I needed/wanted and adapted the formula that I brought with me from another city. I had been unhappy with my last stylist in terms of both color and cut. I have been to Cheryl twice now and I love her work. She uses Framesi color and knows what she is doing--the best. She listens, suggests, and discusses until you are both in agreement.

It went quite well. I would have preferred that she not have so many phone calls but someone had to answer the phone and I assume she was the designated one. My husband really likes my cut...thanks Jackie!

Jennifer cut my fine hair, and she did a great job. She is a delightful young woman, who made me feel very welcome in a new town.

Manicures/Nails
I decided to go here based on the 1 review - A rating - even though it was from 2 years ago. Things must have changed.
I'd like to 1st say that the manicurist is a lovely lady. Very friendly, down to earth. If I could just grade it on that she'd be getting A+'s.
Sadly, that's not the outcome of the service performed.
The salon itself is very small...only one nail station. The lighting was dim with a strong bohemian feel to it. I like eclectic/bohemian style so I was fine with that.
What I didn't like was the following:
a) The nail station was poorly lit. There was no extra lighting for her to view her work/detail or, also importantly, for the customer to view detail.
b) There were between 20-24 nail shades to choose from. Some of those were duplicate shades. She had told me over the phone I could bring my own color - if I had a favorite, but that she did have good color choices. There was not. I don't keep nail color at home, so I had to rely on that collection.
c) There was no visible sanitation of tools. No jar of blue sanitizer anywhere near her area, or in the bathroom area. When she used her tools they all came from her drawer. Not sanitized, not pre-wrapped - at least not to a customers view. Not a good feeling.
d) Acrylic - paper/forms only. I did not know that. No Gel, and No Tips. Again, I expected a modern manicurist to have more choices of the services they could/would perform. I don't care for the paper/forms. Never have, but was told it was the best for my short nails...and it was the only choice...so...
e) A huge brush was used to apply the product. Bigger brush than I'd ever seen for this sort of application. I figured to each his own - but it definitely played a part in the outcome. They were as thick as a coke bottle, very bulbous - and I kept thinking....and quot;I'm sure she's going to file/grind them down...shape them...make them look pretty and naturaland quot;...but.
She did use a file to smooth out the rough top, smooth the ends but the nail ends were fanned out and much wider than my finger itself. Thick through the entire nail, and wide spread at the end. The color job was disappointing. Perhaps it was as good as could be done with the nails underneath. Mistakes were not cleaned up (acrylic pieces or the color around the nail). I was truly shocked. Figured things would look better when I got home. meh.
I stopped over at CVS on my way home and got Files to try to reshape (I knew I couldn't correct the thickness with home tools, but figured I'd try to tame the fans at the end of my fingers). I was leaving for L.A. in the morning, so I couldn't go to another professional to fix this that night. As soon as I arrived in L.A., I did just that. They took off the polish - and we saw that the sides where already lifting. ONE DAY and lifting already. She explained to me that the acrylic MUST be laid down very thin - especially with nail beds that are rounded. They did a beautiful job refilling, shaping and polishing. I've received complements from strangers, asking where I got my nails done. If only it was where I lived!
In a nut shell, I feel that care was not given...to the craft being paid. Again, if it was friendliness I was paying for I would have been super pleased. But I paid way too much for the services I received.

Hair Salons/Barbers
It is awfully hard to find a hairdresser in Prescott. Everyone talks about going down to Phoenix to get their hair done. I don't do big cities well, and I don't want to drive 90 miles to get my hair cut. Just as I had given up - I'd been to 6 or 7 hairdressers in town, some terrible, some OK. I read a review somewhere that there was this one woman who came UP from Phoenix to have her hair cut because this one woman understands thin fine hair. I went to her and she was terrific. Her name is Jan and she works at Cutters Four. The cost was very reasonable. She is an expert on thin and fine hair. I plan on using her in the future, and if she moves, I will move!

It's a small salon and they do a great job and it is always clean and everything is up to date and it's American.
