He identified the problem right away and changed the capacitor. For parts and labor, I was charge $271.00. I was troubled by the high cost of this.
Then he tried to sell me a 5- year guarantee on my heat pump for $1000. He said that Jungle Cat would apply the $271. toward the payment of the guarantee. I said that I would think about it. (I don't know that I would own the unit for 5 years)
The cost of the service call kept bothering me. I looked on the internet and saw that capacitors cost around $30. I thought, well maybe I am not getting a price on THIS capacitor.
It still kept bothering me, so, in September, I called a local company that I had used before. I described my unit and asked them if they knew what capacitor I needed. They did, and told me that they would charge $65 - $70 for the capacitor and their service call charge is $89 + $5 trip charge. hmmm. $70 + $94 = $164.
Seems to me that I was overcharged at least $100.
I won't be calling Jungle Cat again.
The furnace ran well during the cold weather. The personnel doing the installation did a good job.
This spring we called the number for the company (928-227-3228) three times and left a message to return our call for a check up on the cooling maintenance program. No one from Jungle Cat returned those calls although in their website they tout their 24/7 availability and outstanding service. On a call to Mr Puett;s cell phone he said he would get back to his office and have something scheduled in ten minutes; no response was every forthcoming. On the fourth call I got a party at the above number and I told them about their poor response on phone call. The person at Jungle Cat scheduled to have someone at our home on Thursday, July 3, 2014 between the hours of 9 and 11AM. I agreed to that block of time.
I waited until 5PM for someone to show from Jungle Cat, but no one came. I intentionally waited for that period of time to see if Jungle Cat would call because of problems, etc., but no one called.
When Matt Puett, the owner, met with us in December, 2013, to tell us about the products and services he provided I was impressed with how he explained the operation of his business. Having taught Quality Management and Control at Cardinal Stritch University I knew what to look for and he did a good job of verbalizing quality measures.
However, walking the talk is another matter. In my opinion the administrative and logistics part of his business is a total failure. He runs his business in a reactive manner instead of a proactive one. Call his cell number, for instance (928-227-3228) to leave a message and you get an automatic response that his answering service is full. It's been that way for well over two weeks when I tried to leave a message about checking the air conditioning system. I tried again today (7/7/2014) to talk with Mr Puett on his cell phone (928-642-2005) and got the same message about his phone answering service being full.
In my opinion this business is a good example of the American free enterprise system (caveat emptor; customer beware!). Would I recommend his service? Not until he can walk his talk.
"I do apologize for your experience, although Jungle Cat Heating and Cooling did not buy out any pervious company and is not affiliated with any other company. I suggested that you contact the company in which you purchased your services from. If I can be of further assistance please contact our office. Jungle Cat Heating and Cooling 928-227-3228"
He checked out both my furnace & AC systems and did the maintenance needed to keep, them in good repair. Matt arrived earlier then expected which was a delight as I like service people to be on time. I will most certainly use Jungle Cat in the future'
Matt's company should be given the top rating on Angie's list so other people can obtain honest, reliable & professional service.
