I was told the cost would be Time and Material.

I STUPIDLY, I DID NOT ASK WHAT THE HOURLY RATE WAS. I had assumed approximately $50-$70 for service call.

The installer, A**m, was a master of ultra slow work

The installer wouldn't use the relatively new (8-month old)  flex hose for the installation. Saying the company insisted on charging me for their own material (cost + mark-up)

When the new part I bought from Home Depot appeared flawed !!! the installer didn't have a replacement part on the truck, even though I described in detail the scope of the job.

The installer then drove to a nearby plumbing supply store for a new shower installation kit.

I PAID $80/HOUR FOR THAT TRIP.

All told, I was charged for 6 hours labor @ $80/hr=$480

I thought the job by an experienced plumber would be 1 hour , maybe 2 hours

1. Last November this plumber came to the house and replaced the hose under the utility sink in the laundry room with a new hose; connecting the faucet to the water supply. I was with him all the time. He also replaced other similar hoses throughout the house.  He was efficient, courteous and seemed to do his job. So when I needed a new water heater I had him bid the job; one of 4 estimates. His price was right in the middle and he was available so I gave him the job. When they came I was out of town but a friend was staying in the house. She emailed me that after they'd begun working she found 4 or 5 gallons of water on the floor, coming from under the utility sink . She called the plumber in from the garage where he was working with his assistant. His assistant found that the hose had blown off or come loose from the faucet, she felt it was probably when they restarted the water to the house. The assistant told my friend that the wall had gotten wet and might be a problem. He helped my friend mop up the water and went back to the garage. Steve, the plumber, never said a word to me when I returned. I began to smell a musty smell in the laundry room a week or ten days later, it got worse. I had a handyman pull out the utility tray/cabinet and the bottom of the wall had two patches of mold, one was about 10" x 28". I took pictures and emailed to the plumber, suggesting that he pay for the repairs. He emailed back that it was not his problem, he denied (at first) knowing anything about a water leak. Later he wrote that he knew about it but it wasn't his fault. When I looked up the earlier November bill and sent him the dates that he had replaced the hose he replied that it must have been leaking a long time, nothing to do with him or his work. I had cleaned out the utility tray cabinet four days before he came in March and knew it was dry then. He sent me a check for $50. but denied doing anything to cause the mold.
2. When I got home from my trip the water in the kitchen took 6 minutes to get to warm (not hot, warm.) I called Steve and he came promptly to look at it. He said I needed an additional, small tankless water heater under the sink. After he left I got out the brochure and saw that this water heater model had a recirculating pump inside. I called the manufacturer and they said that it should be recirculating the water all the time and he should call them. Steve came to the house, called them and they talked him thru the correct set up for the recirculating pump. I now get warm, then hot, water in 3 seconds! Had I gone with the plumber's recommendation I would be out several hundred more dollars unnecessarily! I WILL NEVER USE THIS PLUMBER AGAIN, HE IS NOT CONSCIENTIOUS and not up to date.

The Green Plumber replaced a 2-tank gas water heater with new 50 gal gas water heater.  He was pleasant to talk with and did the job efficiently and quickly.  It is now six months later and we have had no problems with the water heater at all.  Job well done.
We also asked about a duct work inspection and he referred us to Arrowseal who came out promptly, did an inspection of our duct work - he said he found no problems that needed sealed and thanked us for the opportunity to do the inspection.
