We brought our lab here, he was not eating and lab tests from my original vet said kidneys readings had spiked in the 5 days between the 2 tests they did. Our dog needed to be put on IV & have an ultrasound to help determine possible cause. When I arrived the people were very nice and the DR that did the ultrasound was very professional. After this and blood work it was determined my lab had a blood clot in his aorta and kidney issues. Original quote for 2 nights with IV and extra testing was aprox $1880.00 to $3100.00. Well by the 2nd afternoon it was already up to $3600.00, and still no additional answers. We were not given results of 1/2 the test they did. Just wanted to do more tests and more money. I sent the first lab results I did received both to my Vet in Washington and here in Arizona. They both agreed kidneys were failing and with the blood clot nothing more could be really done to secure he would walk away in good or even stable health. Both my husband and I wanted a straight answer - "Are the kidneys failing". The wet noodle of a DR would not give straight answer when my other 2 doctors did and both said we did the right thing be stopping further tests that were not going to solve anything. This place runs on your emotions to PAY as much as they can get from you. They have no compassion for the qualify of life vs age of your dog all about the $$$. Not to mention they did not tell us what could happen if the clot burst! No, my friend who is a nurse and the other 2 vets described what could happen which is not a picture you want to see of your beloved pet to go through.

This team is noting short of amazing.  We were of course beside ourselves watching our beloved dog having these non-stop seizures.  They rushed him in and had him on monitors and medicated very quickly.  We were then brought back to be with him and had a long and open discussion with the Vet.  They could have easily taken our money (and we would have paid) to run more tests but the team explained that it would probably not be fruitful or in the dogs best interest.  They treated us like family.  We stayed with our dog while he was put to sleep and they let us stay and cry afterwards.  the entire team was kind, calm and caring.  It was a horrible moment in our lives made much easier by some great people who cared!

My vet had diagnosed my dog with bladder stones, but sent us elsewhere for surgery. He referred us to VetMed. After reading the last review, I was very excited that less-invasive methods were available for removal of the stones.
When we arrived, we were impressed by the comfortable and spacious waiting room. The whole facility smelled and looked clean without being sterile-seeming. The front desk staff were very helpful and efficient.
We soon saw Dr. Aguirre, who took our dog and did an ultrasound on him. He already had the x-rays from our previous vet. He came back and told us that while the bladder stones could cause issues, most likely the little blood we saw in our dog's urine was from polyps that he found on the ultrasound. My other vet didn't know this as the office doesn't have the technology. He patiently described the different options, and no option was very invasive--the surgery involved would only involve small incisions. Since he know people come from a distance for the consultation, he already had a detailed estimate printed out for the treatment, and to our surprise, said he could do it right away, that day. We decided to go ahead with it.
A few hours later, after we were home, we were told our dog came through the operation ok and was starting to wake up. They wanted to keep him overnight to make sure he was ok and to give him some pain meds. They didn't even charge extra for the overnight stay. I picked him up the next morning and Dr. Aguirre showed me what he took out and went over the meds to give him for the next few days.
I was very impressed with the professionalism and the compassion of the vet, techs, and front desk staff. While this procedure may have cost more than at a local vet, you have special surgeons and internal medicine vets here, so your pet is actually getting a higher level of care and perhaps the latest technology.
I would highly recommend this place for specialty care and surgery, and emergency care if you're in the area (they're open 24/7).

After some digging on internet found VetMed. VetMed had latest equipment to perform ultra-sound, where they identified all the stones that existed in her bladder and kidneys. They also had non surgery / scope and laser option, which Dr. Ale Aguirre fully explained and stepped us through - making us feel much more confident about how to treat her in the least invasive way with someone that had clearly done this many times prior. The day of her procedure, they were able to perform the stone removal with the scope/laser, no incisions, and she was fully recovered in 24 hours without any complications. The care, facilities, and staff are top knotch! Thank you Dr. Aguirre - recommend you and VetMed to all pet lovers out there - Pepper is doing great!!!!

Our little dog was very sick and getting sicker by the day. Our regular vet was at wit's end and recommended we see a specialist at Vetmed.

Vetmed got us in the next morning and we saw Dr. Aguirre, their internal medicine specialist. He immediately knew what was wrong based on blood work information transferred from our regular vet. We verified his diagnosis with an ultrasound and examined the overall damage with an endoscopy the next morning. The diagnosis was inflammatory bowel disease.

Dr. Aguirre recommended a regimen diet and medication which has turned around the course of the disease and our girl is much, much better. We're not far enough into this yet to see complete healing but there doesn't appear to be any reason why that won't happen.

Vetmed can be expensive but you certainly get what you pay for. Dr. Aguirre immediately knew the problem which our regular vet couldn't diagnose with weeks of visits and tests. The information was already there, it just needed someone with Dr. Aguirre's experience to see it.

We found Vetmed to be highly competent, responsive, caring, very easy to work with and very friendly.

Dr. Ale Aguirre, D.V.M., DACVIM is outstanding. He studied all the previous tests on our Cat and worked with our Veterinarian. They reviewed everything that had been done, looked at all the symptoms in conjunction with test results, and determined a course of action. Dr. Aguirre conducted tests for a suspected highly unusual illness which aligned with the clinical observation and found the answer.
